What’s nice about the multiplayer mode is that there is no split screen – although that means you need to stay close together within the game screen to see what is happening. Unlike other games, there wasn’t a split of duties/abilities, each player still had to complete everything, but at least you could share the task of collecting coins and defeating enemies. You see, each world grants you a pet that the levels are designed around you using. The second world is a pet that can make a platform, a really fun idea! However, when you are carrying the pet, your jump basically completely disappears. This didn’t happen with the first pet so having this change come in so suddenly is pretty jarring and it takes quite a while to get used to the way your ability to move changes so often. You’re not using these pets just once in a while, it’s constant. Additionally, the pet is on a short leash, so there’s no letting go of them to get through a platform section and then call them to you, you’ve got to be changing your jump up all the time.
