About this deal

I sleep quite warm so I personally stayed warm enough using this sleeping bag with just long underwear, although I was far from toasty. The outer layer of the blanket is made from Micro Diamond ripstop polyester fabric. Naturally, this fabric is water resistant, but it is by no means water proof. There`s a lot to love about the Snugpak Jungle Bag. But there are also a handful of negatives that are important to consider. What I Like About the Snugpak Jungle Bag Choosing the best survival sleeping bag all comes down to assessing your long-term survival needs, most notably the type of shelter you`ll construct and the expected weather conditions. What`s the Verdict? If you expect temperatures lower than 45°F or so, the Jungle Bag pairs very well with the Snugpak Jungle Blanket.

Built-In Bug Net A roll-away bug net keeps spiders, snakes, and other critters out of your bag at night.

Snugpak Jungle Blanket Review – The Details

Lastly, the Jungle Bag is seriously durable. It will hold up to all the wear and tear of heavy wilderness use. This is one of those survival products you buy once and have for life. Alternatives to Snugpak Jungle Bag Add in the fact that the Travelsoft insulation retains heat even when wet and you not only have a great camping blanket but a real survival blanket that can come in handy in emergency situations. Versatility In addition to personal preferences, note that the “œaverage woman” is generally slightly colder than the “œaverage man” in the same sleeping bag. Durable Every inch of this Snugpak sleeping bag is made with durability in mind. The craftsmanship is top-notch as are the materials. The bag performs well and, honestly, just feels high quality.

Versatile Use as a sleeping bag, unzip and use as a blanket, or zip together with another Jungle Bag.The ripstop outer shell provides peace of mind that even if I do get a tear, the blanket is not going to be useless. I personally think a polyester blanket such as the Jungle Blanket is a great choice if you are looking for something that has water resistance and can still perform when wet. Comfort The Jungle Blanket isn’t going to keep you warm winter camping if it is your only source of heat retention, but it is a perfect companion to a quality sleeping bag. It’s great to wrap up with around the campfire on a cold evening, add on top of your sleeping on a cold night, or even keep you dry and warm when bad weather hits. Snugpak has mastered the comfort factor with the Jungle Blanket while making it water resistant and warm. The Jungle Blanket has a soft comfortable feel that literally surprised everyone who’s had a chance to use it when I’ve taken it on camping trips.

The Snugpak Jungle Blanket hits all of the needs and wants I have in a survival and general camping blanket. I plan to use the bag extensively this summer. My goal is to try to use it for a month straight to better understand how it holds up to long-term use in warm weather. I recommend looking at other options for day-to-day use, long-term expeditions, or semi-permanent survival, but this sleeping bag is a fantastic addition to your emergency kit.

Quick Thoughts

It’s hard to describe how many camping blankets feel. If they are waterproof, they tend to be rough and crinkly, almost like a rain poncho. Or if you have a wool camping blanket (I do love wool for camping), you know that while it is great for warmth and can still keep you warm when wet, wool isn’t comfortable, it’s scratchy. That said, this Snugpak sleeping bag isn`t waterproof, just water resistant. You can`t truly use it outside without shelter, except in dry weather. It`s much more practical to use the Jungle Bag with a tarp shelter (like the Snugpak Stasha G2) or inside of a tent. Well, as all experienced preppers know, there is no one best survival sleeping bag. The best option for you depends on your personal needs and preferences. My bug-out bag is something to get me by for a few weeks at most in a survival situation rather than provide long-term support.

It would have been nice for me if the blanket was perhaps 79″ to 81″ tall. But it’s really not an issue, and here is why: When it’s cold outside I wrap and curl up in it to conserve body heat (like in the picture further above), and I stay plenty warm and cozy. It’s plenty big enough for me when I curl up…so it’s not really an issue. When its warm outside I just use it as a cover and don’t worry about covering my head. If I get warm I just uncover a little. Cutting right to the chase, this survival bag is made for tropical conditions (Snugpak`s recommend lowest temperature range is 45°F), so it`s really only ideal in mild to warm locales. These blankets do come in some fun colors and patterns compared to Snugpak’s standard greens and tans. And I honestly love REI’s camp blanket. I can`t say that this is my favorite survival sleeping bag on the market, but it`s certainly a great option especially for those on a budget.Camping blankets range in usage from luxurious extravagance to necessary bedding, and their spread of prices shares similar breadth. While many types of gear often correlate a higher price with better performance, we found no such relationship in these camping blankets. Some of our favorite blankets are among the least expensive and most expensive options we tested, and several fall right in the middle. You can rest assured that their Jungle Bag is made with the same keen eye for detail and incredibly durable materials as all of their other offerings, including the Snugpak Ionosphere Tent (my favorite one-person survival tent). The blanket may feel thin at first, but the Travelsoft insulation is highly efficient insulation and keeps you surprisingly warm when combined with the Micro Diamond Ripstop exterior shell which is wind and water-resistant.
