About this deal

On the other hand, the focus ring is pretty negligible. It’s just as slim as the focusing ring on the X100V, so it’s kind of hard to use comfortably with manual focus, but it turns smoothly and is nicely dampened. I would have liked to see a tab or lever or something that protrudes from the focus ring to help with manual focus, but most people are probably not utilizing manual focus with this lens unless absolutely necessary. (Side note: you can actually buy an external focusing tab attachment on Etsy that might make this more comfortable if you deem manual focus a necessity with this lens, or just want a more rangefinder-style experience.)

Shooting wide open, the XF 27mm has solid sharpness through about 80 percent of the frame. The corners and edges are slightly softer. Corners sharpen up around f4.5. While sharpness is relatively good through the image, it pales in comparison to the corner-to-corner sharpness that I’ve seen from high-priced Sony GM and Nikkor Z lenses lately. However, in real-world shooting, I thought the lens had a good balance between sharp subjects and being so sharp that you see every pore and imperfection. Lens Character The sweet spot is at F5.6, where the level of sharpness peaks. For this reason, I use the zone focusing at this aperture in the manual.

Summary

No, because personally, I am already covered with two very fine lenses in this focal length range, the XF 23mm f/1.4 R and XF 35mm f/1.4 R. This lens is made much better than expected for a tiny, weightless and relatively inexpensive lens, with lots of metal. I am not comparing the optical formula. The optical design is not relevant in this case. It is how they present it. They are stealing an industrial design again, again and again and use it for their marketing. They jump on the marketing train of other companies.

What more? This lens gives a qualitative impression. It is very well made, with the WR special attention given to its strength.

FAQs:

As I was getting ready to write this article, I was looking around my gear cabinet for this lens and I couldn’t locate it. When I did find it, the lens was attached to my wife’s X-T4! It turns out that the Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR is her favorite lens. It seems that whenever I want to use it, the lens is attached to her camera. This is the only lens that we fight over. There is no aperture ring. You have to use a dial on the camera to set it, or to set it to Auto aperture control for A and P modes

Indeed, one of the essential reasons to acquire this lens, beyond the focal length, which can be interesting (we will see it later), is its small size and weight. Mounted on any camera in the Fujifilm range, it allows you to have a lens right in the so-called “standard” focal range with unequalled portability. This is where things get a bit dull … hard to update the autofocus on such a compact lens. They, therefore, left the exact mechanism as in the previous version. Is it noisy? The Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR is my favorite lens for Fujifilm cameras. The problem is that it’s also my wife’s favorite lens, and between the two of us we only have one copy. When she’s using it, I typically go with the Fujinon 35mm f/2 instead, which is a really good lens, too, but I like the 27mm just a bit better. The other problem is that the 35mm lens, while small, is bigger than my 27mm pancake, and it doesn’t fit into my travel camera bag (I have it set up where my Fujifilm X100V and Fujifilm X-E4 with the 27mm fit really nicely into a little camera bag—the 35mm lens is just a tad too big). When TTArtisan recently announced their inexpensive 27mm f/2.8 autofocus pancake lens, I thought maybe this could be a good solution to my problem. is also a pancake lens, but at 18mm it’s much more of a wide angle lens than the 27mm. On the upside,As you can see, this lens is, in my opinion, a MUST-HAVE for all Fujifilm photographers as it is compact and versatile. It replaced my X100V, even if I lost a light stop, which is not a game-changer (F2.8 is sufficient for low lights with a good increase in iso). When sunlight hits this lens just right, you’ll get a bit of a white edge to the image, almost as if you applied a white gradient to the image in Photoshop. This flare offers plenty of chances for adding character if you can get the light to hit just right. Color Rendering owing this lens, plus the content you’re actually here for: sample photos! Photo taken with Fujifilm XF 27mm f2.8 Great things about the Fujifilm 27mm pancake lens

In the last four years, in addition to other techniques, I have been shooting in IR and, in the end, I have created a book about this technique that has just been published in spanish, and I am proud that it has been the first in history in published in my language, spanish. In case you didn’t know, I am Spanish and I live in Spain. Fujifilm XF 27mm FAQs: What kinds of content is the Fujifilm XF 27mm F2.8 R WR lens best suited to capture? On the X-S10 I get a real-world improvement of five stops. I get 100% tripod-equivalent sharpness handheld 86% of the time at a quarter of a second! If the focal length fits your style and traveling lightweight is appealing to you it would be easy to make a strong argument for the XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR. Optical excellence, lots of metal parts in the same size as a lens cap for not much money? Everyone should have one of these! In my opinion, the main selling point for the 27mm lens is that it is both an ultra-compact pancake-style lens Bokeh, the feel, character or quality of out-of-focus areas as opposed to how far out of focus they are, isn't that great, but nothing every gets that far out of focus, so don't worry about it. This is linked to the perfection of its image quality but also to its focal length. 40mm is very close to the viewing angle of the human eye. I use a clear (UV) protective filter instead of a cap ( exactly like an iPhone) so I'm always ready to shoot instantly. I only use a cap when I throw this in a bag with other gear without padding — which is never. The UV filter never gets in the way, and never gets lost, either. Alas, the 40mm pancake re-invented for digital, again. Fuji has done a nice job in having a 3rd party build a compact lens and f2.8 is nice. Besides being purpose-built for digital, the good thing about this lens is the same as every other pancake lens ever invented. Its a small lens that is good enough in most other aspects. Its a compromise, that is all.
