About this deal

The V7 Trigger provides powerful suction for a handheld vacuum cleaner. It can’t match the V8, V10, and V11 when it comes to raw power, but we found that it does a brilliant job of most cleaning tasks for a lower price. Let’s take a closer look at how the Trigger performs when faced with common handheld vacuum tasks. Around the Home Dyson vacuum cleaners have become some of the most highly sought-after items in the home thanks to their excellent build quality, suction power, and eye-catching design. So where are the cheapest Dyson sales happening right now? On the upside, we like how easy it is to access the V7’s Trigger. There’s no need to dismantle the vacuum to wash it, as the filter pulls out from the top of the main cylinder. Emptying & Cleaning There’s an increase in the suction, naturally, with this new vacuum’s stated suction power upgraded to 240 air watts, compared with 185 air watts in the equivalent V11. However, the headline innovations in this model are located in its motorised heads. The mini motorised head has more than 3,900 stiff bristles to maximise the amount of dirt that’s lifted from the carpet, making it ideal for cleaning furniture, upholstery and stair carpets. The two-in-one combination tool is helpful when vacuuming multiple surfaces, and the crevice tool aids extracting dirt from corners and tighter gaps. The attachments clip in easily, too, provided you keep the couplings clean.

The V7 Trigger weighs just 1.38kg, so it’s considerably lighter than corded vacuums. It’s also lighter than most cordless vacuums, largely because it doesn’t have a wand or full-size floorhead. If you need a lightweight vacuum cleaner for convenient cleaning, then the Trigger is a great choice. Replacing the Dyson button is not a difficult job, but it does consist of many actions that require careful attention. Although replacement does not require technical knowledge, you do need to keep your head up and use the right tools. In this guide I will help you step by step. When should you replace the Dyson Trigger button?Slide the housing of the upright vacuum cleaner and unscrew the white hood of the vacuum cleaner with a Torx T8. Then unclip it on the sides (with a flat screwdriver) One of the things we love about the V7 Trigger is the mini motorised tool, which is a small attachment consisting of a powered brush bar and stiff bristles. During our tests, using this tool made the vacuum much more effective at removing stubborn dirt, as the vacuum can agitate debris rather than relying on suction power alone. Unscrew the filter of the Dyson vacuum cleaner and remove the dust container from the vacuum cleaner (with the red clip) Obviously, there's no floor performance stats to discuss, as it doesn't really matter here. But whatever other surface you're working on, the V7 Trigger will clean it. For basic tasks, the standard suction mode provides enough power to remove loose dirt and debris. But we did need to switch to “Max” mode for stubborn dirt or hair, which reduces battery run-time to around 6-minutes. This is still enough for spot cleaning, but not much more than that.

Although it’s no shorter than the V15, the collection bin is smaller at 350ml, and it doesn’t contain as many of Dyson’s cyclones, reducing the overall suction power to 150AW. Don’t let that put you off, though, because there’s still enough power here to perform a fantastic cleaning job, albeit in a smaller unit that doesn’t take up as much room, so is easier to store. It’s also a good deal cheaper than the V15.The next job on the list was removing fine pet hair and hay from the living room rug. Again, the V7 Trigger rose to the challenge at the regular setting, clearing the area in little more than ten seconds. The MAX mode proved helpful for deeply entwined clusters of hair at the edges, leaving the rug looking brighter than I remembered. The V7 Trigger wasn’t alone in this challenge. As a point of comparison, I also tested the area with a Dyson V8. Both vacuums had a tough time but the V8 on MAX power cleaned the area while the V7 at the same setting struggled. Weight isn’t everything when it comes to ease of use though. We’ve tested several handheld vacuums that are technically lightweight but feel bulky or heavy to hold, often due to poor design choices. Fortunately, we didn’t feel this was the case when testing the V7 Trigger, as it always feels balanced and easy to manoeuvre around the home.

The V7 Trigger comes with a 21.6V battery that can provide a maximum of 30-minutes suction power. This is much longer than many handheld vacs (some models last less than 10 minutes), making the Trigger a great choice for longer cleaning sessions. The standard V8 is ideal if you have a relatively small living space that’s mostly carpeted. If you have mostly hard floors, it’s worth seeking out the V8 Absolute, which comes with an additional fluffy roller. In practice, we found that this works most of the time, but clumps of hair and dirt can still get caught. When this happened, the only option was to pull it out be hand. We still think it’s more hygienic than most handheld vacuums we’ve reviewed though.green laser light that helps you spot where your hard floor is dirty; and the anti-tangle brush bar floor head for carpet, which guides hair off the roller and into the collection bin before it can wrap itself around the roller and become a problem.
