About this deal

This impressive circular walk is located close to the East Devon Way, another one of the West Country’s lovely and long national paths. The trail originates at a village car park in the village of Newton Poppleford’s which is famous for the King Alfred daffodil which has been produced there since the end of the 19th century. The village is also known to horticulturalists and garden fanatics for its market gardens, some of which survive to this day. By joining one of the great heritage trails or guided walks available you can ensure you see the best of what we have to offer as well as learning about the history and landscape you see all around you. Walking is more popular with visitors to South Devon than ever, but don’t worry about crowds. With more miles of footpaths and roads than almost any other county in England there’s plenty of room for everyone. South West Coast Path Whether you take on this entire challenge or just enjoy a leisurely stroll around Colaton Raleigh Circular, there’s no shortage of beautiful scenery to explore in East Devon. 11. This 35-mile walk was created by the Rambler's Association and named in memory of a former chairman and walk leader. It's split into four sections taking in coast, creeks, castles and countryside and can be walked over a series of days or, if you're feeling energetic, completed in one go.

With almost 900m of ascent, this coastal walk between two National Trust bothies is about as dramatic as they come. But it is well worth the effort – just don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag. The path starts off with a gradual incline, giving you a chance to take in the views across the Jurassic Coastline and out to sea. The best thing about Mutters Moor is that it offers a variety of different walking routes to suit all abilities. You’ll pass through quaint villages, such as Countisbury, and a variety of wildlife, including birds, rabbits, and deer. The City Centre Wildlife Trail is one of the easiest ways to walk round Plymouth and discover nature right on your doorstep. Described as "the loveliest place in the world", Greenway in Brixham was the beloved holiday home of Agatha Christie and her family. This one-mile circular walk leads you through some of the more secluded areas of the garden, including the North Walled Garden and the Bird Pond. From the Coypool Park and Ride you'll head up to Plym Bridge via the Route 27 cycle path. Watch out for cyclists as this is a shared path. Wandering through the woods at your own pace you can see traces of mines and railways, long since abandoned, that nature has reclaimed. Bolberry Down is managed by the National Trust, so this lovely area has a network of well-maintained, easily accessible paths from which to admire the sea views and rare coastal grassland.

It’s a great place for a leisurely stroll, as the estate has plenty of trails that feature a variety of terrains, from rolling hills to lush river valleys. Explore the beautiful Arlington Court estate, a National Trust property located just a few miles north of Croyde. Kingswear to Brownstone Battery

It’s the perfect spot for a picnic and a chance to soak up some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of life below. Most of the route is level with good footpaths along the way leading to a Napoleonic Fort, a visitors' centre and the Guardhouse Cafe. 13) The John Musgrave Heritage Trail There are a number of routes that you can take, but if you want a nice easy stroll take the loop route that heads east along the coast. You’ll pass the Port Light Hotel, then head along the coast, passing a number of viewpoints and benches. When you reach the return point you’ll be able to see along the coast as far as Rame Head in Cornwall, and on a clear day you should be able to see the Eddystone Lighthouse guarding a dangerous reef 8 miles out from Rame Head. To really enjoy your experience here, don’t forget to bring a picnic and admire the views from the top of the hill! Whether you’re looking for a relaxing walk with the family or a challenging trek with friends, there’s something here for everyone.

The walk continues along lanes and through woodland, where you’ll see a mill with a working waterwheel before returning to Totnes. The trail starts on the top of the cliff in Lynton and takes you along the majestic valley of the East Lyn River, as it winds down the steep slope towards Lynmouth. Saltram House is one of Plymouth's most beautiful estates and, with its gentle paths, rolling countryside and grand views, it's a fascinating spot for a ramble. The path features a mix of woodland and Tarmac paths and is a favourite with dog walkers, families and casual walkers alike. Devised by a keen Dartmoor walker and founder member of the Dartmoor Rescue Group, this walk was planned as an easy introduction to the area’s attractions.
