About this deal

The launch of the DALI SUB E-9 F marks a new stage of what is possible at this level of subwoofers! The SUB E-9 features a 9” woofer, capable of moving lots of air with power and precision. The cone is made from pure aluminum for maximum stiffness and a becoming exterior. The launch of the DALI SUB E-9 F marks a new stage of what is possible at this level of subwoofers! I have read that the Dali's tend to be bright so a warm recevier Marantz (6013/6014?)would be a a better fit, but dont know how the Maratnz would be compared to the 3600 (there is a good deal at the momnet on the 3600s). Would you recommend swapping out the recevier?

With a stereo amp that has home threatre by-pass you connect the front pre-outs of the receiver, let's say for argument sake the 3600, into the direct RCA ports of a Rega Elicit-R. The Rega is now acting as a power amp for the 3600 and the front speakers are only connected to the Rega. However in HT by-pass the volume is controlled by the 3600 and the speakers are still EQ'd by Audyssey onboard the 3600. SUB E-9F fås med finish i hvid højglans, sort ask eller lys valnød. Stoffront kan købes som ekstraudstyr. The Sony manual says to crank up the crossover to it's highest setting on the subwoofer and set the volume to half way then do a calibration to allow the AVR to set the correct crossover frequency for it. The AVR set the speakers crossover to 140hz.I guess from what I have read I perhaps would need both an AV reciever and a stereo amp for the R3 (AV receivers don’t have enough power to drive them?) ,do I have to worry about matching which amp with wich receiver? Would you guys still recommend Maratantz over Denon if I go with a stereo amp? And because of the amp can I go for a lower range receiver, for example on Denons, pair a 1600H/2600h with the stereo amp rather than 3600H? (assuming both have same features sets on room correction, etc.) Now, some explanation on my selection....my wife says she is not that interested and happy for me to decide but at the same time asking for a discreet speaker size!! Hence the compact Dali Menuets which review really well and look stunning. The KEFs also review well and I'm keen to compare it to the Dalis. I originally started looking at lower priced active speakers and, not being able to afford the KEF LS50 Wireless, I tested the KEF LSX against the Dali Oberon C. The Dali won hands down - clear, beautiful sound compared to a more dull, almost muffled, sound from the LSX. But I want to compare the bigger brothers for each. For film and TV you have the 3600 and the Elicit fired up, all you do on the Elicit is to engage HT by-pass by a simple press of a button on the fascia or the remote.

With Denon/Marantz av-receiver you also get the room correction (XT32) for speakers/sub, bass management, lot of cool features which may come handy. You can start with 2.1 and then add center channel later. Some people will go in-ceiling surrounds if not possible other way. Av-receiver would keep things open for future. You can still add 2ch integrated amp later if needed. The entire cabinet is effectively decoupled from the floor by means of four polymer based oversized spikes. Appearing to hover above the floor the distance of 30 mm eliminates any potential turbulence from the space between the cabinet and the floor itself. Still, the proximity to the floor ensures that the benefit of having a down-firing vent is maintained; a higher efficiency and more freedom in positioning. The 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter is bigger than the standard 1-inch tweeter found on most speakers and is designed to provide a larger sweet spot for listening and blend better with the mid-range driver. In fact, these are the first speakers I have auditioned that sound better when not toed in or out. The recommended placement should be with the speakers pointing straight out into the listening room. I’ll speak more about this in my listening section of this review. I placed the Oberon 3s on speaker stands with the tweeters at ear height from my couch and roughly two feet from the front wall. Wow, what a difference! In the much smaller space, each sub reproduced deeper bass response that I could feel in my sternum; it shook the house." XXLS400 wouldn`t be that big upgrade performance wise. Going from 12" sealed to another, though BK is still the better one. But as you have bigger budget i would look;Spendor A1 (which I've also had) are IMO a better all-rounder and less fussy about placement due to their sealed box/infinite baffle design. They're not speakers with big personality, rather they major on even response across the frequency range, clarity and tonal accuracy. HT by-pass is now finding it's way into lower tier amps making such connections a lot easier. It was once the domain if higher tier stereo amps. Neither the Brio or Cyrus ONE HD have in-built streaming functionality. I have both here, and they are both very capable amplifiers. The Cyrus is not bright - it's very nicely balanced and it also usefully adapts to the impedance of the speakers being used. The aptX Bluetooth is very well implemented on the Cyrus and sounds superb, so that could be an alternative to in-built streaming. There is, of course, also the option of the Cyrus ONE Chromecast. The Brio has no digital functionality whatsoever. How big your room is isn’t so much of an issue if you’re sitting fairly close to the speakers - the most important thing is the direct sound from the speakers and how far that has to travel.
