About this deal

The AD400ProAC Adapter enables you to run your AD400ProFlash units using mains power when you are in the studio. Powering the AD400PRO using this accessory will also shorten your recycling times. I was pretty close to it, but to be fair, it’s a 4ft octabox. With a smaller box, an aperture of, say f/4, I could’ve gotten quite a bit more distance and possibly been able to lower the ISO. ISO800 isn’t unreasonable for video, though. Also, the .rar format has changed in recent updates so you may simply need to update your archiving application (e.g., update Winzip to the latest version). Or you can use the latest version of the open source 7Zip. Disable driver signing [Windows 10, G1] G2 looks like it uses a separate DFU driver(?) that apparently is properly signed for Windows 10. G3 does not use an installer and does not add a driver to the system. Taking out the batteries

Right from the outset, it’s clear that Godox has put some thought into making the AD400Pro flash even more transportable and convenient by providing a carry case with the unit itself – an accessory that the AD600Pro does not come with. The Stroboscopic Flash feature causes your AD400Pro to fire multiple low-powered flashes in rapid succession it can be set to between 2 and 100 flashes at a frequency between 1 and 100Hz (flashes per second). Combined with a slow shutter speed, you can capture a sequence of images of a moving subject in one exposure such as the one in the photo below. The main differences are that the AD600Pro does not have the option for interchangeable adapter rings for Bowens, Profoto and Elinchrom, and obviously there’s the 200-watt power output difference between the two flash heads. The USB-A port is only for attaching an FTR16 receiver if you want to use Godox's older 433 MHz triggering system. Always use the USB C (newer lights) or micro USB (older lights) port for firmware updates. File names

Godox AD400Pro Overview

At 400Ws of power, the AD400Pro TTL Studio Flash can be powered down to 1/256 of its full power in 1/10 stop increments. This is perfect when you want to use a wide aperture for shallow depth-of-field in your photographs. This means shooting small or large subjects is easy and gives flexibility to your lighting. Offering 100Ws of power in a compact body (sizing in at just 120x76x76 mm, of the size of a can for scale!), as well as 390 full-power flashes from a single charge of its rechargeable battery! This makes the AD100 Pro perfect for traveling photographers, event photographers, as well as any on-location shoots, due to its wireless, portable and lightweight nature. Supports Accessories with Adapter Ring: With the specially designed new Godox mount to install lighter and more portable accessories which can be used in combination.

The AD400PROfeatures a Hight Speed Sync Mode which allows your flash to sync at higher shutter speeds than normal (with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 of a second) and will allow you to overpower the sun with HSS to make shooting outdoors not an issue, reducing ambient light and getting the shot you want. The LCD dot matrix control panel, including the on-off button, is located on the side of the AD400Pro, which is much more user-friendly than the AD600Pro, where the on-off button is located on the bottom, frustratingly underneath the handle. The flash boasts a Colour Priority Mode where white balance fluctuations will not exceed +/-75K and in standard mode the white balance is rated at 5600+/-200K. Ok, so maybe Paul asked me to add that last one. I’m curious to see what will happen, actually, with 3rd party flash support with Sigma’s new Panasonic/Leica alliance. Whilst the AD600 Pro is a wireless flash, powered by rechargeable Li-ion Batteries, an AC adapter is available to create a mains-powered flash head. This AC adapter is great for studio work as it means that neither you nor your work is restricted by battery power on longer shoots. By offering the choice between mains or battery-powered, the AD600 Pro becomes an even more versatile, lighting option for all shoots! This kit also includes a Bowens mount adapter making it compatible with an even greater range of light modifiers and accessories. FluidKnowledge on dpreview mentions that you may also need to disable driver signing in Windows 10 to get the G1 updater and driver to work properly, as it's not signed (being written for Windows 7).

The AD600 Pro also offers a very powerful modeling lamp, meaning that this light can also be used as a video light alongside its flash capabilities! Offering a 38w light, as well as a 4-hour battery life from a single charge, the AD600 Pro is a great tool for both videography and flash photography. Both units feature a handle for positioning and adjusting while shooting. These handles are also removable, which is ideal if you need to save space while traveling.

The GODOX AD400PRO TTL Studio Flash is a simple, easy-to-use battery-powered unit that offers many features suitable for both amateur and professional photographers. Due to the battery power and TTL feature, it is the perfect light to give crisp sharp images whilst boasting super-fast recycle times and flash duration to capture motion for use in the studio or on location. This compact and lightweight flash is perfect for people who shoot Weddings, Portraits, Events, Fashion, Sports, and Advertising. It is especially good for shooting on location due to the flash being easily portable with automatic TTL metering. What's In The Box? The AD400 Pro sizes in at 220mm and weighs only 2.1kg! This makes the AD400 Pro, whilst much more powerful, only slightly bigger and heavier than the extremely compact AD200 Pro. With this flash, you are getting a very powerful lighting solution in a compact and lightweight body! Many thanks to Paul and Lex for helping me out with this bit. There’s no video for it yet, though. That’ll be coming with the review for the Godox XPro-P trigger for Pentax. The video for this is now live over on the Godox XPro-P review.

The AD400Profeatures a USB Type-C port, which enables you to update the firmware as new technologies become available. This ability to overpower the sun comes from the massive 600Ws of power that this light can produce. This light has a power range of 1/256-1/1 in 10 increments, a recycling time of 0.01-0.9s, as well as sporting TTL and HSS capabilities. Photographers nowadays need everything to be portable, lightweight and easy to set up and take down, which is exactly what the AD400Pro provides.Once you’ve attached the bulb, you’ve got a bulb-shaped hole that you can’t really do anything with (unless you want to carry a spare), but at least you can fit a couple of XPro triggers in the slot that held the Bowens adapter. No 1/3 stop power adjustment option on the strobe itself (but you can still do 1/3 stop increments from the trigger) Whilst these two flashes are very similar, the AD200 Pro has the edge on the AD200, meaning that of the two, it is the AD200 Pro that you will struggle to find a Godox user without! The AD200 Pro is the most popular of this entire range for its versatility, and portable nature. The GODOX AD400Pro TTL Studio Flash supports the Front and Rear Curtain Sync, which allows you to achieve interesting motion trail effects such as the ones shown in the above photos. The AD400Prohas Super Short recycle times ranging from 0.01-0.9s you will not need to worry about a long wait between shots making sure that those important shots are not missed and reducing overall production time.
