About this deal

At 67x78mm and weighing 375g, the new 23 1.4 is longer but a little narrower than the original model and a little heavier too, but the difference in heft isn’t anywhere near like the new 33 1.4 versus the old 35 1.4. Fuji cameras use APS-C size sensors with a 1.53X crop factor. To get a 35mm field of view (essentially the width and height of the frame) you need to use a 23mm lens. Up until now the only option was the excellent Fuji 23mm f1.4 lens but this thing is gargantuan. Seriously, it’s about the size of a coffee cup sitting on the front of the camera and not at all something I’d want to lug around for a day of shooting. This prime wide-angle lens is a 35mm equivalent focal length and is designed for APS-C format FUJIFILM X mount mirrorless cameras. It’s a bit wider. This means you can fit more in, such as buildings or street photography scenes when you travel. It can also be used for landscapes in a pinch. You need to get closer to your subject. As with every wide-angle lens, you usually need to get closer to get the framing that you want.

This means that it will provide a wide field of view, making it ideal for landscape and architectural photography. Additionally, the xf 23mm f2 has a minimum focal length of 2mm. This is good news for close-up photographers, as it means that they will be able to get close to their subject while still being able to capture a wide scene. XF 23mm f2 Review Lens Construction I have found these two 23mm options to be similar in performance quality. It is not an apples-to-apples comparison as the X100V is a fixed lens option and the XF 23mm f/2 is a stand-alone lens option that can be used on a variety of Fujifilm X Series cameras. Almost at the end of our journey, in May 2019, we were in Hoi An, Vietnam. This town is well known for its tailoring and the lampshades which hang everywhere. My wife wanted to visit a class, where she can make her own lampshade. I decided to go on a walk through the town to do street photography intentionally.

Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 Specifications

This lens has moderate spherochromatism, which comes along with the large amount of ordinary spherical aberration seen at close distances:

As with all things in life, “it depends”. There is no one perfect focal length (after all, if that were the case, how would digital camera companies make any money?). So far, besides the 23mm F2 lens, I also own the 55-200mm lens. I bought this lens because I wanted to have the flexibility in upcoming vacation trips and also for some street photos, even though I don’t like the compression of a street photo with a zoom lens too much. But without this lens, my most favorite shot of 2020 wouldn’t have been possible or I had to crop the image crazily. The f2 offers simple yet pleasing bokeh. While it’s not as smooth as the bokeh you’ll get from other lenses in the Fuji range, it works perfectly for street photography and travel photography. F2 maximum aperture The reality is, each of these lenses are a great way to get into the Fuji system and start creating beautiful photos. Where to buy Fuji lenses I use a clear (UV) protective filter instead of a cap. I only use a cap when I throw this in my bag with other gear, otherwise I leave a clear protective filter on my lens at all times so I'm ready to shoot instantly.Even though I’ll still reach for an f1.4 lens when I really need that look, the reality is that it’s not necessary every day. If I’m out and about, the 23mm lens is the one I’ll put in my bag.

For a second example, I photographed London’s Tower Bridge, again with both lenses from the same distance and closed to f16. Here’s the full view, followed again by crops of the best-defined spikes.Scroll down for a deeper comparison between Fuji’s two 23mm lenses: Bavaria, Germany with the Fujifilm 23mm f2 Fujifilm 23mm f2 vs. Fujifilm 23mm f1.4 Sometimes I need an even wider angle for some good reflection photos in puddles. And in other situations, I need a zoom lens to get good shots. I am very happy to have the possibility to change my lenses, even though I have the 23mm F2 99% of the time mounted on my X-T3.
