About this deal
The secrets, the brutality? Delicious. The plot was so hot and heavy, twists and turns at every corner and more. I fell head over heels for Scout. What can I say? I like them crazy. Ruined: ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐ #1 โข Ronan Byrne (Caroline Constantineโs personal assassin) & Poppy Waverly Maywell *previously titled Stolen Hearts
Oh goodness I laughed so hard with their antics. They gave me so much delight. They also have the story some lightheartedness. Sparrow, Scout and Sully are tasked with getting information for their "Uncle" and their mission is to deceive Landry into thinking they are one person and to get her family secrets. This took me a little while to get into but eventually I did and I enjoyed the story. The tyrant triple threat strikes again. It was so freaking good. I canโt believe Iโm rooting for them. And love them. Before we just knew the triplets as a unit- a conniving, envious, cutthroat trio. But Triple Threat helps us see them as individuals. Sully, Scout, and Sparrow- each with their own traits and nuances, each with their own moral compass and needs. Each uniquely interesting, with their own baggage. We met them again in the aftermath of their disastrous attempt to harm their stepsister- not only are they disgraced and reviled, but theyโve also found themselves indentured to the megalomaniac Bryant Morelli. Their arrangement is constricting but has itโs perks- he keeps them in their lavish environment while the triplets serve him in the never ending vendetta with the Constantines. But their latest task is quite unique- to prey upon the innocent princess in the tower, Landy Croft- the billionaireโs daughter. I really enjoyed this book and the way the brothers each dove into Landryโs life in different ways. It was very original and I liked them despite the fact that they are not good guys. They make very likable villains. I also liked the fact that they were still villains or anti-heroโs since they were so bad in Skyscraper Cinderella it wouldn๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝt have been believable for them to just change into Heroโs in this book. The cliffhanger is a good one and I canโt wait to read more. One year after Winston destroyed the triplets' life, Bryant Morelli took the triplets, Scout, Sparrow and Sully under is wing and turn them into his "dogs".
Iโll admit this story started a bit slowly for me- in part because we needed to take times to get to know the triplets, and in part because I wasnโt yet sure I could invest in them. But the Midnight Dynasty world is full of anti-heroes whoโve all done horrible things to teach other, and somehow despite my love for Ash and Winston, I was able to find the beating hearts of these messed up kids. A theme that has played out brilliantly in this entire series is the tension of nature and nurture- how the treachery of their parents and the violence of their familial feuds and the associated traumas all of the MD characters have faced have caused characters to bury their goodness. Time and again, we see it dawn in the wake of new connections- and the terror triplets are such a beautiful articulation of these theme. Shaped, and still being shaped, by their environment, but when confronted with their connection with the unexpected Landry, the buried parts of themselves emerged- some swoony, and some quite dangerous. Welcome to Shh... [Smut, Heroes & HEAs], a reader group dedicated to contemporary Romance & Erotica. Anyway, a solid first part of the duet. Can't tell what's my final thought is as I barely got anything to comment on so far. Each triplet is different. You've got Sparrow, the easy going type, Sully the softy and Scout, the psychopat. Together they make a very hot, well balanced yet sarcastic criminal, who is great in bed. I liked their sarcasm a lot though... sarcasm is important in this type of stories for me. Landry Croft is held hostage in her gilded cage by a toxically dangerous father. At eighteen years old she has been raising her little sister since birth. She is the only mother the child knows. And Della is unlike any six year old Iโve ever known. Sheโs brave, intelligent beyond her years, bratty, and endearing. I donโt know how you canโt like her.The build up, the suspense and the outcome of this journey, made this story irresistibly delicious! Although itโs revealed relatively early on, I donโt want to say anything that will give away the twists. What I will say is, I absolutely loved the storyline and every character, save Alex Croft! It was a slow burn to be sure and, while thatโs not always something I love, it totally worked here - far better than a faster pace would have. Beyond that, the humor and banter was unexpected and brilliant!
I love that she put both halves into one omnibus, where you can just continue reading without having to pause to pull the second book out. The transition between the two books is seamless and flows like honey. I think the omnibus gives the book what itโs really needed. Now fast forward a year past the kneecapping that happens in Prince Charming and we have the Triplets in their new life. A life that gets revealed in The Glass Slipper. The story is told from all 4 MCs POVs and I have to admit that I was a bit confused about who is which triplet in the beginning. They've reigned as the Terror Triplets, using cruelty and intimidation to rule New York City society. Now they face a bigger challenge: the reclusive heiress Laundry Croft. It is their job to work their way into her life. They need to make her trust them. Even while they keep their own secrets. Each man uses her in his own way. They seduce her and manipulate her....but will they fall in love?
