About this deal

Ken's descent into Ghoul-hood was both fascinating and horrifying to watch. There's just something about a character fighting against their nature and pursuing the "right" path above all else that fascinates me. Ken Kaneki is an average college student - albeit a bit bookish and quiet. His best friend, Hide, is the closest person he has to family. To say that the characters had a character development would be an understatement. If you look at the stories of Hinami, Amon, Juzou/Suzuya, Touka, Tsukiyama, or even Hide, you will have some character development to analyse. But when I say that Kaneki had character development I mean that he had a whole metamorphosis. I also loved the amount of organizations this book had, and how some were pro inferiority, some were pro superiority and some were neutral, for humans and ghouls, because it all reflected the different opinions of humanity in the face of a great issue and I found it very enlightening. The character relationships were all also a delight, whether it was family, friends, lovers or enemies. I found the relationship part in this book very unique and honestly enjoyed it wholeheartedly. There were a lot of trigger warnings about death, torture, PTSD, cannibalism and abuse in this book but the portrayal in some of them was not too graphic so it's up to the reader and what they can handle. The aspects of the limits of science, curiosity and necessity were also explored and I truly loved the insight in these matters.

I watched the anime and loved the first season, although the second took a bit of a dip and ended in a very anti climactic way. Glad to say that the manga plays out a lot more satisfying than that. The biggest difference being that Kaneki doesn't go to the bad side like in the anime, something that never really felt believable. I don't know if I've ever noticed this about the art before, but it's extremely unique. I've never seen anything quite like it. That being said, I don't necessarily actually like it. I like how Touka and Kaneki look, but everyone else looks a bit off.

In the sequel series to Tokyo Ghoul, Haise Sasaki has been tasked with teaching his special squad of half-ghouls how to be outstanding Investigators, but this is complicated by the troublesome personalities of his subordinates and his own uncertain grasp of his Ghoul powers. Will he and the members of his squad become heroes or monsters, taken out by the other squads in the Commission of Counter Ghoul...?! There were times that it felt like the plot depended on characters not using any common sense, which can be frustrating. Finally, I feel like Sui Ishida didn't put any effort into building or concluding the storyline. None of my questions were ever answered - instead, the ending left me with even more unanswered questions than ever before. reunited and it feels so good~~ omg i love seeing the three of them together (Hide, Akira and Amon) Chapter 150 → ◙ This chapter... my heart is so warm... Finally, all the people I like fighting on the same side. (except for Furuta. But if I remember correctly, I decided to stop liking him a while ago. I didn't.)

What happened to Hide? Is he pro-ghoul or anti-ghoul? Was he eaten? Did he survive the battle? Was he even at the battle or was Kaneki hallucinating? If he was there, why the hell was he there? From the beginning till the end "the world is cruel" is stated many times and there are several incidents which proved this. The story in itself started out simple and as it grew so does it complexity, and coming to the artwork, i was flabbergasted, it is just pure pleasure to the eyes, although sometimes it becomes too abstract to understand what is going on, but one could clearly see how Sui Ishida became better and better with each volume, with the final volume containing some of the best pieces of art i have ever seen in any manga, i'm a hardcore fan of Berserk and Vagabond, so i generally don't expect much in terms of art, but Tokyo Ghoul proved me wrong. A book of illustrations of Tokyo Ghoul wallpaper. It contains, among other things, the Tokyo Ghoul tankōbon cover art.I wasn't crazy about the ending, it felt very odd for what we had learned about many of the characters up to that point. At the end of the day, I did enjoy this one. It was really neat to read and the art is great. It is a mature manga (if the cannibalism didn't clue you in), so just be warned about that.

I actually really like Kaneki's development as a character, although I wished he had lost more of his naivety. It was an interesting portrayal of someone struggling with being caught between two worlds, as well as what trauma can do to someone. Unbeknownst to Ken, he has several of his internal organs replaced with those of a Ghoul...which makes him half-Ghoul. Overall I enjoyed this series a lot, with some small-ish gripes. I thought going into the series that it was more aimed to a younger audience, and although it kinda is... It gets pretty effin' dark at points, even for my horror fan sensibilities. Fine by me! Just not eat-over-breakfast material. I took a small break in binging through the box set after the whole "Jason" torture bit... It was a long time ago when I started reading Tokyo Ghoul, but since then, I lived an experience of multiple emotions, and lost myself into a world that was like a dice, with so many different sides and possibilities. The fight scenes are still pretty confusing... Which is annoying. It's also annoying that more often than not speech bubbles don't have any spoke indicating who they belong to, so I can't tell who's talking. These two points basically meaning: Reading this series is a very confusing experience. That being said, it is still a super fast read. I was expecting to take a lot longer to read it than I did. Tokyo Ghoul:re, the sequel to Tokyo Ghoul, was serialised in Weekly Young Jump from October 16, 2014 to July 5, 2018, and has been released from December 2014 to July 2018 in 16 tankōbon volumes. [11] [12] Viz released the first English volume on October 17, 2017. [13] Tokyo Ghoul [ edit ] No. Elsewhere, Shuu, Banjo and Uta take on Noro and discover that he can heal himself once his head has been removed!!

Really cool fight scenes. Like really, really cool. I would love to see how they animated the Kagune fights. I met so many great characters, with layers upon layers of personality and complexions, unique in writing and so well spun that I couldn't comprehend even after I sat for a long time to think about them. I found myself in a crazy but careful world building, where ghouls, the monsters of this story, didn't just exist, but also were fully explained anatomically, had their own organized society and rules. Chapter 148 → I always thought Hide was dead (although I've seen spoilers of him being alive) I guess I just never thought he'd be the 'scarecrow ghoul'. Plus, how the hell did Akira and Amon already know about him? So as a manga reader for over 20 years, and anime watcher, you hear a lot of "the manga is so much better" as much as people go "the book is so much better than the movie". So with Tokyo Ghoul I took it with a grain of salt. Now there are times the Manga is better than the anime but it's almost always over exaggerated. However, Tokyo Ghoul would be the major exception. La lezione di anatomia che Kaneki impartisce ad Ayato è indimenticabile... e quindi, Ayato (che voleva solo difendere la sorella) si sbaglia? The portrayal of the canonically LBGTQIA+ characters is not great. The two characters that I can think of off the top of my head are portrayed as very predatory. It's not great when your only LGBTQIA+ characters are all bad guys. Kaneki has no choice but to adapt to the ways of the ghouls if he wants to survive, all while keeping his identity a secret and trying to live a normal human life. Thus begins a tragic horror story where a psychologically tortured boy is constantly exposed to the worst aspects of human nature and the savagery of ghoul society. Is Kaneki the first ever outcast that doesn’t belong to human or ghoul society, or is he the first and only person that has the potential to bring the two clashing societies together? Kaneki begins to realize that there’s more to the incident with Rize and the surgery that changed him forever, and he slowly unravels the secrets of the nastiest ghouls and the most corrupt humans working in mysterious ways behind the scenes. After a while, you’ll begin to question who the real monsters are. My favorite character: Kaneki Ken. Shy, bookworm, kind, considerate, brave, lonely, tragic hero. The best part of this story was the difficulties Kaneki went through and him slowly being crazy and sometimes cruel. The best character change I have seen.
