About this deal

The fourth was The Three Little Bops (1957), featuring the pigs as a jazz band, who refused to let the inept trumpet-playing wolf join until after he died and went to Hell, whereupon his playing markedly improved, directed by Friz Freleng. The first of them was The Big Bad Wolf, also directed by Burt Gillett and first released on April 14, 1934. [10] The Three Little Pigs are often parodied or referenced in Monica and Friends comics, usually in Smudge-related stories due to his strong interest in pigs. The phrases used in the story, and the various morals drawn from it, have become embedded in Western culture. Many versions of The Three Little Pigs have been recreated and modified over the years, sometimes making the wolf a kind character. What can we do when we have two versions of an event? How can we figure out which one, if either, is true?

So he huffed and he puffed, and he blew his house in. Alas! because the house had not been very well made, it fell down, and the wolf was able to eat the little Pig up in an instant. My class: The experience I gave my students for this particular book was a courtroom case. You have a prosecutor, a defense attorney, a judge, the wolf, the pigs as witnesses, and a jury of his peers. Students played their parts. And the jury could make a decision however, they chose. It really was up to the students how to play their parts. The farmer agreed and the first little pig began to build his house from straw. In no time at all, the little pig built his house. Then he sat down to eat his lunch of bread, tomato soup, and salad. Browny was living happily in his little home but one night, a big bad wolf, who dearly loved to eat fat little piggies, came walking along the road.

So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down! The wolf was greedy and he tried to catch both pigs at once, but he was too greedy and got neither! His big jaws clamped down on nothing but air and the two little pigs scrambled away as fast as their little hooves would carry them. He went to the little Pig’s house, and told him how frightened he had been by a great round thing which came down the hill past him. Imagine that you are a pig in this society. How would you feel when you heard about what happened to the Three Little Pigs? Have you ever disagreed with somebody about something that happened? Did you figure out what really happened? So the Wolf came, as he did to the other little Pigs, and said, “Little Pig, little Pig, let me come in.”

Curriculum

My style was to provide interactive classroom activities with the students that would be self-teaching lessons. They were typically done in group/teams with opportunities for reporting before the end of class. With simple class discussion afterwards to share what we gained from the experience. The Wolf's verse goes: "If you'll open the door and let me in, I'll warm my hands and go home again." Does your answer change if, like the first and second little Pigs, you do your jobs earlier, but not as well? Do you think that the police and reporters were fair to Al? Do they have a reason to be unfair? Explain. In the PBS Kids series Super Why, Pig (Littlest Pig) is one of the main characters of the show. In the episode “The Three Little Pigs: Return of The Wolf,” it is revealed that he is the youngest of the three little pigs. He transforms into Alpha Pig with Alphabet Power.

But as the winter drew to a close, they realized that now it was the time to prepare their homes for the chilly season so that they can keep them safe and warm through the winter. The three little pigs got busy gathering materials for their houses. The next day the Wolf came again, and said to the little Pig, “Little Pig, there is a Fair in the Town this afternoon: will you go?”In 1942 there was a Walter Lantz musical version, The Hams That Couldn't Be Cured. [14] The wolf (claiming he is a musical instructor) explains to the court how the three little pigs harassed him through their instrument playing which ends up destroying the wolf's house. If Al were a pig, do you think anybody would have believed his story? Why or why not? What do you think would have happened?
