About this deal

Salami aeras are a salami type sausages primarily from the island of Lefkada, air dried [hence the name, aeras]. The consistency is solid, intended for slicing very thinly. They make a very good starter. Eaten as they are bought, no cooking required. A/B supermarkets and local butchers sell sausages under this name.

Some will be unknown to most, one or two may be more commonly recognised, but all have a unique tale to tell. A string of sausages is used to describe a group of sausages that are connected together, usually when they are being cooked. Mr Hotchkiss added: 'Many species are on the brink of UK extinction, like the knothole yoke moss and hazel pot beetle.William Hague says the prospect of The Telegraph being owned by a UAE-based company is 'disturbing and should be prevented' Mark Day has been to Turkmenistan this year as part of an international group of scientists invited by the Turkmenistan government to take part in expeditions and an international science conference to explore the Koytendag Nature Reserve. The Koytendag Nature Reserve (formerly known as the Kugitang Nature Reserve, established in 1986) is located in the Lebap province. The globally endangered markhor, a large wild mountain goat, is found in the reserve. The hope is that by exploring the area and its wildlife and through international co-operation, the area will gain worldwide recognition and protection for its unique landscapes, and the wealth of rare plants and animals found in Koytendag as well as bringing benefits to local communities through tourism. Amongst the high peaks, deep canyons and gorges Mark enjoys the sight of different species of vultures wheeling overhead and discovers important botanical sources of mulberry, wild almonds and pistachios. This also showed up in the second act of the Mr. Bogus episode " Beach Blanket Bogus", when Bogus notices his younger cousin Brattus having a tug-of-war with a dog over some sausage links. Bogus goes over to help Brattus, but the two cousins wind up only getting one sausage while the dog eats the rest of them. For the sausages cut pieces the right length and shave the ends with a pair of scissors to round them off. Put one piece in a leg of pantyhose, pull tight, twist, and tie with thread. Repeat until you run out of leg. We painted ours with regular house latex paint in various shades of brown and rust and they looked great. He added: 'These ten species are just the tip of the iceberg – or the mushroom poking up from the soil's vast mycelial web – of secrets that our woodland habitats hold. Goldberg: What do you think? You want me to stand by idle while he pinches a pound of my best chipolatas while I've got a good customer waiting for them?

In one episode of Jonathan Creek, a stage magician pulls a seemingly endless string of sausages from his trousers as part of his act. Adam Klaus is not amused. A very unusual lichen features in this week's programme. Brett Westwood travels to the Brecon Beacons to see the string of sausages lichen. While it is very noticeable in the countryside as it hangs from tree branches as long thin strands like uncombed and sparse straggly hair, its name comes from swellings that occur along the strands at intervals which give the appearance of sausages. Having declined due to industrial pollution, this lichen is now being spotted more regularly in locations in south Wales and there are hopes its fortunes are improving as it spreads east. A batch of sausages is used to describe a group of sausages that are cooked together in a single batch. As the name suggests, this lichen resembles a miniature string of sausages, although their glaucous colour is less appetising. Despite its silly name, it tells a tale of a serious problem; like many lichens, the string of sausages is extremely sensitive to air quality and is mainly restricted to places well away from the worst of industrial pollution. These ‘fairy butcher shops’ are draped over branches in the cleaner air of places like Dartmoor in Devon and south-west Wales. Recent evidence has revealed that Usnea lichens have anti-cancer properties, effective against human breast and lung cancer cells. 4. Beefsteak fungus ( Fistulina hepatica) The lichen is also sensitive to air pollution, from acidic sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides to excessive enrichment from ammonia.Usnea articulata, commonly known as the string-of-sausage lichen, [1] is a pale greenish-grey, densely branched lichen with a prostrate or pendant growth form. It grows on bark, on branches and twigs, and is often unattached to a branch and merely draped over it. It grows up to 100cm (40in) in length. [1] Description [ edit ] In the The Loud House episode, " Cereal Offender", when Lincoln chases after a kid dressed in an outfit identical to his who took his box of Zombie Bran cereal, the kid tries to slow him down by spilling coffee beans on the floor. To get across them, Lincoln takes some linked sausages from the nearby deli and uses them like a rope to swing over the coffee beans. The Simpsons episode "Homer the Vigilante" starts with the Springfield Cat Burglar sneaking into the Simpsons' home and being growled at by Santa's Little Helper. Being Genre Savvy enough to know this trope, he pulls out a chain of sausages to distract the animal. It gets Played for Laughs moments later when Homer sleep-walks in, and is also stopped by being given sausages. The wasp-banded comb horn is a harmless species of cranefly, but mimics something more like a wasp that could bring a nasty sting. The birds first nested in Scotland in 1970, and since then have been attracted to specially designed boxes put up on trees close to water as they are scarce breeders.

Südtirol – Das Kochbuch Gebundene Ausgabe. Köln: Naumann Und Goebel; (30 August 2011), p. 15, ISBN 978-3625130277 This lichen is very sensitive to air pollution, especially from sulphur dioxide; it has a widespread but sparse distribution in mainland Europe, but has become extinct in many areas, surviving best in Brittany. [1] It occurs on various Mediterranean and Atlantic islands and is present in Saudi Arabia, and the mountainous regions of East Africa and North Africa. In the British Isles, it used to be widespread but disappeared from many areas during the Industrial Revolution. It is reasonably common in southwestern England, from the New Forest westwards, and is known from scattered locations in Wales, particularly Pembrokeshire. It is rare in southern and western Ireland. This is reminiscent of the opening scene of the 1995 James Bond film 'GoldenEye', where the iconic spy bungee dives off the dam at the Soviet Arkhangelsk. The genus name Phallus is a reference to its penis-like appearance and impudicus is Latin for 'shameless'.
