[ 151, 152 ] Thus, graphene comprising of SW defects in its structure will have exceptional electrical properties that may be useful for applications in electronic devices. 6.2 Optoelectrical Applications Graphene with the SW defects have shown to be an exceptional anode material that is useful in energy manifestation. Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene (HBC), a type of recently synthesized nanographene containing the SW defect, has the capability to act as anode in sodium (Na +)-ion batteries (NIBs). Nanographene containing Na + ion and the SW defect causes the sheet to be strong. But the cell voltage of the NIBs was decreased even though the SW defect in the HBC enhances the cell mobility, hence making it useful as anode materials. [ 179 ] In another study conducted by Pavlov etal., interaction of graphene having the SW defects with redox couples of Ru(NH 3) 6 3+/2+, O 2 0/−, and IrCl 6 2−/3− showed enormous catalytic effect, creating a framework for the fabrications of electrode for the production and conversion of electrochemical energy.
