About this deal

There's a notch at the top of the display that houses a 20MP selfie shooter. On the rear of the phone is a quad camera that includes a 48MP main sensor alongside an 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP depth and 5MP macro. S Pen Pro and S Pen Fold Edition sold separately. Only use the Samsung S Pen Pro or the S Pen Fold Edition designed exclusively for Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. All other S Pens or stylus pens not designed for Galaxy Z Fold3 5G (including those by other manufacturers) may damage the screen. Rear camera: Wide (main): 48 MP, f/2.0, 26mm, 1/2.0", 0.8µm, PDAF; Ultra wide angle: 8 MP, f/2.2, 123°, 1/4.0", 1.12µm; Macro: 5 MP, f/2.4, (macro); Depth: 5 MP, f/2.4; LED flash, panorama, HDR. Unfortunately, the earphones provided in the box are from Samsung's bargain bins, so they aren't much better. At maximum volume, the in-box earphones sound quite shrill and can cause discomfort, so third-party earphones are recommended. You can get excellent wired earphones at cheap prices these days, and combined with Dolby Atmos support on the phone, you can easily upgrade to better sound quality if you buy the Galaxy A31.

a b c SamMobile (19 June 2020). "Samsung Galaxy A31 review: A good phone for the non-gamers out there". SamMobile . Retrieved 2020-08-29. inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Display (1080 x 2400 Pixels, 441 ppi) with 20:9 Aspect Ratio and Infinity-U Notch Confusion seems to be the most appropriate response to all this. To be fair, not all of the Galaxy A and Galaxy M models are universally available across all markets, even if there is often a big overlap. This helps when trying to navigate the sea of choices. The slightly older, but still excellent Realme X comes to mind, though. You will be sacrificing on an ultrawide camera and some battery life. However, the Snapdragon 710 is a nice step up in performance, 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging is a nice little bonus and so is the motorized selfies camera, leaving the gorgeous 6.53-inch AMOLED undisturbed edge to edge. The absence of a dedicated Night mode is particularly felt when you use the ultra-wide camera, which can't take photos as bright as the main camera in low-light conditions because of its considerably narrower aperture. Ultra-wide pictures taken outdoors during the day are serviceable just as long as you don't try to zoom in, because the 8-megapixel resolution isn't enough to resolve any meaningful detail. This is, however, a limitation on all of Samsung's mid-range phones with ultra-wide cameras. We've been spending a lot of time deep-diving into Samsung's newly-refresh Galaxy A lineup lately. Between all the new models joining it and the Korean giant's sprawling Galaxy M family, we honestly think some devices, like the A31 have ended-up on the bad side of market segmentation. In isolation, the A31 can stand on its own as a decent, if not perfect budget to mid-range offer. If you are after an AMOLED panel on a budget, Samsung is kind of the place to look. Doubly so, after the A31's panel managed solid performance all around in our tests. Furthermore, it has excellent battery life and its camera setup is both versatile enough and competent enough to recommend for stills.

Samsung and Microsoft Expand Strategic Partnership to Deliver Unified Experiences Across Mobile Devices". Samsung US Newsroom. 2019-08-07 . Retrieved 2020-08-29. The Super AMOLED panel on the Galaxy A31 also allows Samsung to include an in-display fingerprint scanner on the device, which is again something of a rarity in budget devices. The scanner is a bit on the slower side but I still found it better than the ultrasonic sensor that Samsung uses on its flagship Galaxy S and Note devices. Camera Estimated against the usage profile of an average/typical user. Independently assessed by Strategy Analytics between 2021.12.08–12.20 in USA and UK with pre-release versions of SM-S901, SM-S906, SM-S908 under default setting using 5G Sub6 networks (NOT tested under 5G mmWave network). Actual battery life varies by network environment, features and apps used, frequency of calls and messages, number of times charged, and many other factors.

This includes a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, a design language that’s similar to the Galaxy S20 series, a quad-camera system, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a massive 5,000mAh battery. So, is the Galaxy A31 worth the money? Or does it fizzle out when compared to offerings from Realme, Xiaomi, and other OEMs? Specs CPU One of the highlights of the Galaxy A31 is its software experience. The device runs on Android 10 with One UI 2. The experience is largely the same as what you will get on more premium devices from Samsung including the Galaxy S20 series. Samsung’s skin has come a long way from the Touchwiz era and One UI is easily among the best OEM skins out there. The UI/UX seems well thought out and there are plenty of customization options and features to play around with as well. Some notable features of One UI 2.1 include Dark mode, Digital Wellbeing, themes support, non-intrusive incoming call UI, one-handed mode, and more.

Display Size: Measured diagonally, the screen size is 6.4" in the full rectangle and 6.2" with accounting for the rounded corners. Actual viewable area is less due to the rounded corners and the camera cutout. Overall, the One UI 2.1 experience on the Galaxy A31 helps ensure that the device offers a level of experience that is higher than what its price tag and internals would indicate. Conclusion We don't know when the Galaxy A31 will be released, or where you'll be able to buy it. We've asked Samsung for further details, and we'll be sure to update this article when we learn more.

I had no issues when making calls on the A31. I could hear the person on the other side clearly and so could they, though that's only true in quiet places, like inside the house. Since the speaker isn't loud enough, you might want to use earphones when you're making calls outdoors. Network performance is excellent, for those wondering, with both of my SIM cards having zero issues getting a strong signal. User Available Memory: User memory is less than the total memory due to storage of the operating system and software used to operate the device features. Actual user memory will vary depending on the operator and may change after software upgrades are performed Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Filp3 5G is rated as IPX8. IPX8 is based on test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Not advised for beach or pool use. Not dust resistant. The A31 has got the Android 11 update with One UI 3.1 at May, but it may vary at other regions around the world.

Superb portraits, better than average closeups, generally good daylight image quality from all cameras.

Plan Benefits

The Galaxy A31 has a number of attractive features in its spec sheet: A 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, 128GB of storage as standard in many countries, four rear cameras, and a 5,000 mAh battery. What's not so attractive is the processor powering the phone. The A31, along with the Galaxy A41, uses the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, which isn't great for gaming, as I've already given away in the review's title. You'll have 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending on what version of the phone you opt for. The smaller RAM comes with 64GB of storage while the larger comes with 128GB, plus there's a microSD up to 512GB if you want to expand that.
