About this deal

Quench yourself in a delightful rum with complex notes of vanilla, sandalwood, coconut, and ginger much like intricate strokes of flavor.

Only select brands can showcase the wisdom and knowledge acquired over nearly a century of expertise in the field. It’s during these moments that they excel, creating unique experiences to delight connoisseur's palates, such as Ron Barceló’s Rare Blends Collection. Accompanied by graceful toasted oak scents, this rum is concocted in Mizunara Japanese barrels. Upon nosing, the woody and mellow sensations induce memories perceived in the palate with a long, spicy, and dry aftertaste, reminiscent of the nuances in a beautifully painted scenery. Thanks to the careful preparation of each product, adapting to the consumers’ tastes around the world, and to an international marketing strategy, Ron Barceló now reaches countries on five continents. These include competitive markets such as Russia, the United States, Spain, Germany, Czechia, China, Chile, Colombia or Peru. The optimum product was obtained by experimenting with different brands on the local market, and in 1950, the Ron Barceló brand was launched with the products Barceló Blanco and Dorado (white and gold rums respectively), which were an immediate success. Some 20 years later, Ron Barceló Añejo (a mature rum), was added to the portfolio. [3] Ron Barceló, which recently ranked as number six in The Spirits Business’ top 10 biggest selling rum brands of 2022, is the only rum produced with 100% sugarcane juice from its own plantations in the Dominican Republic and was first created by Julián Barceló in 1929.

years later, in 2001, it partnered with a group of Spanish entrepreneurs to create a strategic alliance with the aim of selling products all over the world, with the exception of the Dominican Republic. In 2002, Barceló & Co separated itself of its global operations and the Barceló Díaz and García families created a new company, called Añejos Barceló, now Ron Barceló S.R.L.. In 2006, this company acquired the Barceló rum rights in its country. From that moment, the brand set its new precedent in sales volume, portfolio expansion, positioning, innovation and internationalisation. The Dominicans’ rum Ron Barceló was certified by the independent body, the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) as the first rum to gain carbon neutral certification for the company and all its products. Long before sustainability became a talking point, Ron Barceló minimised its dependence on fossil fuels, ensuring that nearly 90% of the electricity it consumes comes from renewable or green sources, such as solar or biomass energy. It also continues to recapture all of the carbon dioxide from fermentation, transforming it into food grade carbon dioxide for use in fizzy drinks. This determination to innovate constantly has helped Barceló reach its sustainability goals. In 2016, it became the first rum in the world to receive the Carbon Neutral certification, by quantifying, reducing and compensating emissions during the entire life cycle of its products. By doing so, the brand strives to follow the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2030. That same year the bottles for Ron Barceló Imperial, Gran Añejo and Añejo were redesigned and a new era began.

For almost 100 years, Ron Barceló has maintained its status as the Dominicans’ rum, bringing flavours and textures from its country to foreign consumers. Ron Barceló and its Rare Blends Collection dare spirits connoisseurs to live beyond the ordinary. The brand’s portfolio includes the Barceló Porto Cask, Maple Cask, and Mizunara Cask These rums, crafted from nectar from the finest selection of Dominican sugar cane juice, invite consumers to discover the world in every sip with their extraordinary profiles and enveloping flavours. The series is a fine collection of reserves aged for an extended time in barrels from different latitudes, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to continue innovating, and offering consumers new and fascinating sensory experiences. The portfolio includes the new Barceló Organic Rum, Barceló Gran Añejo Dark Rum, and Barceló Imperial Onyx Rum. According to Galíndez, Barceló Imperial Porto Cask is the first of these rums to be made available, with a light, silky and slightly sweet style. Launched earlier this year as part of Ron Barceló’s Rare Blends Collection, this rum is a nod to the producer’s unwavering commitment creating distinctive and unique spirits.

Ron Barceló’s rum origins date to 1929 when Julián Barceló arrived in the Dominican Republic from Spain with the aim of creating the best rum in the world. The next year, Barceló & Co was founded, and production and commercialisation began. However, it was not before 1950, after years of experimentation, that the brand really positioned itself on its local market with two products: Barceló Blanco and Dorado.
