About this deal

Red Panda Husbandry for Reproductive Management / Angela Glatston, Katherine Whitehouse-Tedd, Mark Farnworth and Sarah Spooner

Red pandas are endangered. Their forest homes are being cut down, and poachers hunt them for their fur. And their adorableness might put them in more danger, since they’re ideal targets for the illegal pet trade. The red panda encounter is an amazing one-to-one experience lasting between 30 and 40 minutes which will leave you grinning from ear to ear (we also have an option for two participants).

And the ending was just wonderful, it made me very happy to see that Red managed to change their world and make it more inclusive. In my classroom I could see doing an activity where the kids write books about themselves or "kids like me" or maybe even other things that they just can't find books about. I also think there could be lots of great conversations about own voices books and how authors can tell stories and share their own perspectives, like Red was able to do with her book. The Status, Distribution and Conservation of Red Panda Ailurus fulgens in Bhutan / Letro Letro, Tandin Tandin, Sonam Wangdi, Thinley Wangdi, Pema Dendup and Joanne Millar Led by one of the world’s leading authorities and advocates for red panda conservation, this new edition includes data from the Population and Habitat Viability (PHVA) workshops conducted in three of the species’ range states, Nepal, China, and India; these workshops utilized firsthand information on the decrease of red panda populations due to factors including deforestation, illegal pet trade, human population growth, and climate change. This book also includes updated information from the first edition on reproduction, anatomy, veterinary care, zoo management, and fossil history. I was so proud of Red and how she kept going and I loved that Gee was there to motivate her and be emotional support. So sweet!

Tilly’s adventure is filled with awe and wonder at being in a new place and having a truly unique experience. Like all exciting adventures, there are challenges and bumps along the way and friendships are made alongside memories that will last a lifetime. Tilly’s excitement at spotting rare animals in the wild and riding a yak are lovely and her heartbreak at witnessing a red panda caught in a trap is a sad and all to real occurrence. This edition provides an in-depth look at the scientific and conservation-based issues urgently facing today's red panda. This is a vital resource for conservationists, zoologists, and biologists, whether focused specifically on red panda research or general species conservation. Thankyou to Netgalley and Jess Butterworth for allowing me early access to this wonderful little book.
