About this deal

The plates must conform to legal specifications and must be clearly visible to others from in front of the vehicle and from behind. Plates should be removed or covered when not being driven by a restricted driver. Direction signs in the Republic are in blue for major routes (motorways), green for national roads, and white for local roads.

There are also restrictions on speed for R plate holders if you’re using an R plate for a motor car or category A1 motorcycle: new drivers can go a maximum of 45mph (72km/h). This applies to anyone driving with R plates, so make sure they are removed when a fully qualified driver is in the driving seat. You can apply to remove expired endorsements by obtaining a replacement licence. Expired endorsements are automatically removed when you apply to renew or update your licence for other reasons.

The new measures were introduced in an effort to improve road safety, and will be followed by the introduction of 'tiered licensing', with harsher rules applying to those holding a full licence for less than two years. However, the changes were not retroactive. In Japan, new drivers must display a Shoshinsha mark ( 初心者マーク) (or Wakaba mark ( 若葉マーク)) on the front and rear of their vehicle for their first year, although drivers who consider themselves to be beginners are allowed to continue to display the mark after the year has passed. Although not related to driving experience, the Koreisha mark ( 高齢者マーク) is optional for drivers 70 years old or over and mandatory for 75 years or more. It would theoretically be possible to simultaneously display both a shoshinsha mark and a koreisha mark, for example if a 70-year-old were to be newly licensed. two drink and driving offences (or being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink) within 10 years For each DVA licensing local office [14] (administrative county before 1974) the two-letter sequences are shown first, followed by the reversed two-letter sequences, then the three-letter sequences. Example: date of conviction is 28 May 2013 - the endorsement must stay on the licence until 27 May 2017.You must be able to produce your driving licence and counterpart, a valid insurance certificate and (if appropriate) a valid MOT certificate, when requested by a police officer. The speed limit for vehicles displaying L plates is 45 mph (72km/h), except goods vehicles, buses and coaches on a motorway. Course costs will vary on location. The virtual course lasts about two and a half hours and is delivered and managed by appointed contractors.
