About this deal

Where you get a sizable visible light on many Oral-B brushes, you don’t on the 3100. Technically the BrushSync replacement reminder LED also flashes amber. Given its position and size, it is not the easiest to see.

I have no complaints about the cleaning results achievable with this brush. They are more than satisfactory. Brush heads are interchangeable – choose the style your prefer There are several ProtectiveClean brushes, but all have similar specifications. Unlike the DiamondClean, toothbrushes in the ProtectiveClean range have a pressure sensor, and will warn you if you're applying too much force when you brush. This is great for anyone who tends to be a bit heavy-handed, and has been warned that they're at risk of damaging their enamel. One advantage of a limited set of features is that you can keep things really simple. The DailyClean has just the one button to turn it on and off along with a battery indicator, and that’s it. Put some toothpaste on the head, turn it on, brush your teeth and then switch it off. Job done. Using them for more than 3 months can result in less effective and more abrasive brushing. This is because the bristles will have worn. It stands upright on a countertop and strategically placed nodules on the rear of the handle help prevent it rolling when laid flat.

Yesterday’s battery technology, but good physical design and excellent cleaning save the day

Either way, the clean from the DailyClean is impressive. I’ve been using the Easyclean for months as my regular toothbrush, and the DailyClean doesn’t really feel any different. Gums are massaged nicely, with good cleaning between the teeth, and your gnashers are left feeling smooth and really clean, thanks to the high-speed vibrations of the head. All Sonicare DailyClean brushes are supplied with one brush head and last up to two weeks on a single charge, but only the DailyClean 3100 has a light to indicate the current battery status, which is a very useful feature. The 1100 and 1200 may be cheaper, but we think it's worth paying a little extra for the battery indicator so your brush doesn't run flat.

The supplied C1 ProResults head should have the chip built in, but might not. Philips has altered the box contents since launch. The 3100’s handle is slimmer and lighter than previous Sonicare models with similar features and price point. Comfortable to hold thanks to the slim rounded profile Durable and quality feeling in the handKeeping things simple is the 2 minute timer that turns the brush off automatically when the dentist recommended 2 minutes of brushing time has passed. If you turn the brush off yourself, you haven’t brushed for long enough. There is no whitening or gum care mode. Despite the common misconception that additional modes bring extra benefits, they rarely do. Minimal and clean design looks good and makes the brush easy to clean The 2 minute timer and pacer encourage even brushing of your teeth A rechargeable Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery is sealed inside the 3100 Series brush handle. 2 weeks is the claimed usage time. I achieved an average of 17 days on a full charge.

The Sonicare DiamondClean 9000, 9300, 9500 and 9750 are Philips's top-end electric toothbrushes with Bluetooth connectivity so you can link the handle to the Philips app on your phone. That might sound like overkill, but it's actually a very handy feature if you want to improve your brushing technique, giving you guidance to help you clean your mouth more thoroughly. With the 3100 you don’t have to remember or diarise when to replace the head. It can alert you providing you are using a Sonicare head with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip built into the base. The DailyClean line is the most affordable range of Sonicare toothbrushes. Whether you choose the DailyClean 1100, 2100, or 3100, you'll get a single brushing mode and a timer to help you spend 30 seconds brushing each quadrant of your month. Although rounded, the handle isn’t a perfect cylinder and there is a slightly squared design to the handle which works well. This clever system is otherwise known as BrushSync technology. Our guide to BrushSync explains the things you need to know. A new style of charging stand is included. Compared to previous stands with a 2 pin power adapter, this has a USB type A male connector. The cable is hardwired into it and measures 43 inches (110cm) long. The footprint of the stand is smaller too with a more rounded shape.

weeks of use is now common for an electric brush. Whilst Philips doesn’t advertise such usage times, premium models achieve this.If you haven’t used an electric toothbrush before, the 3100 will still feel intense. But, existing electric brush users may notice the difference. The clean isn’t quite as invigorating. There's also a pressure sensor to warn you if you're pressing too hard with the brush, plus three brushing intensity levels and four modes. Low is a welcome option and ideal for when your teeth and gums feel a bit tender or inflamed. It’s good for helping first-time electric toothbrush owners get used to their new brush.
