About this deal

Making tapenade from scratch is easier if you use pitted olives. They are ready to blitz with capers, anchovies, olive oil and red wine vinegar While using a pot or pan to split open multiple olives in one go might seem like a fast option, note that hitting olives with the heavy pot or frying pan could lead to them being launched across your kitchen with their pits still intact. Therefore, squeezing olives one by one is better to avoid accidents. We appreciated the straightforward operation, and level of control this manual pitter afforded. Across 10 large cherries, we appreciated that the pitter was lightweight, caused no hand fatigue, and produced pristine cherries each time. We did note that our hands became quite messy during the process as we had to hold each cherry while digging out the pit—processing over a sink is paramount. We also found equal success when pitting larger olives, except we did have to work harder to separate the pit from the skin, but again, the olives were unmarred when complete. Of course, cherry pits can pose a choking hazard, so avoiding swallowing them is probably a good idea. Young children have smaller bodies, so they are more susceptible to cyanide poisoning. So definitely teach your kids to spit out the cherry pits as well as other stone fruit seeds. Or just use a cherry pitter to serve them pit-free cherries.

Another important feature to keep an eye out for is a removable base that catches the pits as they are released from the cherry pitter. For example, there are options that have a large container attached to the pitter. After you’ve finished removing the pits from your cherries, you can release the container and empty it into a trash can. An OXO customer service representative explained that the company does not offer a warranty for any of their kitchen gadgets. What We Love: Small and easy to store, allows you to remove pit while leaving stem on, nothing to break or wearout

FAQ

Typically, a sharp blade or point will then puncture the olive and dig deeper into the pit. Once the user releases their grip on the pitter, the ends move apart and release the olive pit. You should be able to slide the pit off the device and discard it safely. As for the complaints, some customers were disappointed that the devices did not always extract every single pit, and multiple tries were required.

What We Love: Latches shut for easy storage, extended front lip allows you to roll cherries into place easily It is available in two different color combinations: either a white lid with a clear white base and tray, or a white lid with a clear red base and tray. Pitting olives with a knife can be time-consuming, especially if you are pitting a large number of olives. What We Love: Pits 6 cherries at a time, large nonslip grip top reduces hand and arm fatigue, removable pit tray for easy disposal
