About this deal

The Warhammer 40,000 Starter Set is great for getting into the game – it includes all the miniatures from the Introductory Set, and adds a Captain in Terminator Armour and five Terminators on the Space Marine side, facing off against a Winged Tyranid Prime , Psychophage , three Von Ryan’s Leapers , and 10 more Termagants and a Ripper Swarm. The base layer for the bone was a 2:1 mixture of Rakarth Flesh and Naggaroth Night, which would give a slight purple tint to the bone color but not enough to be noticed. In the pictures, perhaps due to just mixing at different times, you can see Vorkmortian is a bit more ‘purple’ than the others, but it is easy to fix or balance with layers, of which you’ll end up doing quite a lot here. The Night Lords scheme has probably changed the least from the originals, since the “dark blue with lightning bolts” motif is an instant classic. Temple Guard Blue: 329B8D ● - Kabalite Green: 028D66 ● - Sybarite Green: 30A66C ● - Warpstone Glow: 1E7332

Painting Biel-Tan well means not only mastering painting white, but also being able to freehand the thorny vines that wind over their armor. It’s a daunting paint job particularly for new players, but the results can look spectacular. Silks’ Method Credit: Silks Pink Horror: 91305D ● - Emperor’s Children: B94278 ● - Ironbreaker: 94999D ● - Runefang Steel: C6CBD0 Finally, the Necropolis Stalker is an interesting model because while huge, it actually doesn’t have a lot of detail, and the swords draw the eye quite a bit at the same level as the face it has. For that reason I wanted to make the guards stand out a bit, and applied some Seraphim Sepia to them to give the bone on the handles a more aged look, as if they were crafted from something different than the Bonereapers themselves. Otherwise, he follows the same scheme as the others, layering various levels of the colors into one another over successive coats. edition flame weapons were frequently brightly colored and yellow or orange, so I go for that look here. The nozzle is Averland Sunset highlighted with Yriel Yellow and shaded with Fuegan Orange before being highlighted again with Yriel Yellow and Flash Gitz Yellow. The Hazard Stripes are freehand Averland Sunset with a highlight of Yriel. I shaded the horns with several layers of Carroburg Crimson before giving them a final tip of Nuln Oil. The gloves are edge highlighted with Mechanicus Standard Grey and the skulls are Rakarth Flesh washed with Seraphim Sepia. Finally the cables are highlighted with The Fang. This hefty set includes a bounty of Warhammer miniatures to get your first battles going. The Space Marines deploy an elite force of five Terminators, five Infernus Marines, a Librarian in Terminator Armour, and a Captain in Terminator Armour, while the Tyranids descend on them with 20 Termagants, two Ripper Swarms, three Von Ryan’s Leapers, five Barbgaunts, a Psychophage, and a wily Winged Tyranid Prime.

Step 3 (Left)- Using Ushabti Bone, create a wide highlight area. This will cover all the upward facing areas where light would hit, leaving the Zandri Dust showing at the downward facing angles and next to the Mahogany. Battletome: Ossiarch Bonereapers covers skeletons in Age of Sigmar, though they’ve gotten SIGNIFICNATLY BUFFER than skeletons normally are, adding tons of mass. Speaking of which… The 2 color scheme works even with extra details, with some slight cheating and effort. Credit: Kenji I wanted a colour scheme that captured the regal majesty of the Stormcast, but didn’t particularly fancy trying to get a good blue down, so ended up choosing a different shade of gold as my primary colour, and then using purple and red as accents. The recipe was as follows:

Kraken laid waste to Craftworld Iyanden, forcing its Farseers to rouse a massive number of Wraithguard and Wraithlords in its defence. It took the intervention of Prince Yriel – arriving suddenly from exile to cripple the Tyranid fleet – to turn the tide, and the narrow victory left the craftworld as a gaunt shadow of its former self. The armor plates get edge highligting with Sotek Green, completing the classic Drukhari look, albeit with a more blue tint.

Blending time! I mix Sotek with Ultramarines Blue Contrast in different proportions and paint that over the intermediate areas to get some smoother blends from blue to turquoise. You can see this most prominently on the greaves. I also use it for some shading. Prefer to have your Warhammer 40,000 rules at hand, but don’t want to lug around your full-sized rulebook all day? Warhammer 40,000: The Rules is for you – a smaller, lighter edition of the essential rules found within the Warhammer 40,000 Core Book .The joins between the sections of the cloak are the hardest to line up, and I’d want to pre-prepare them with a thin line of plastic glue.

This is where this concept came in: how about a chart that has all the new GW colors in it with their corresponding Hex Codes for the colors! For these and the Thousand Sons I matched the paint schemes in the How to Paint Citadel Miniatures book. Famed for the 4 step paint process, these were fun. The steel is a new recipe for me using Scale 75 Eclipse Grey > Scale 75 Anthracite Grey > Scale 75 Behring Blue > GW Fenrisian Grey > Scale 75 White Fire Dragon Bright: F58651 ● - Evil Sunz Scarlet: C21920 ● - Wild Rider Red: EB2E28 ● - Wazdakka Red: 8C0A0C Finally, just as I did with the Terminator, I’ll apply some Technical paint to create a textured base and start work on the next batch while the paint is drying.Jain Zar by Gav Thorpe also features the Drukhari in significant fashion and gives them some real show-stealing scenes. The last step is adding aTechnical paint of your choice to the base. Because this can take around an hour or so to dry, this is the perfect time to start working on other models from the box! The Naggaroth Night paint from Citadel Colours is a deep, rich blue color that evokes the dark, mysterious depths of the night sky.
