The Seventh Sign (1988) Demi Moore stars as a pregnant woman who isn’t a believer until she meets a man who might be Jesus. This sets off an accelerated pregnancy giving Sandy exceptional strength and leading her to eventually develop psychosis. Next, she turns into a raving maniac and brutally starts to slaughter her colleagues one after the other. She even goes to the extent of eating their flesh. Mother! (2017) is a painful Darren Aronofsky film about a pregnant woman married to a narcissistic husband that neglects her experience and their child for the sake of his “art.”
There are a surprising number of pregnancy related horror movies given that the nine-month period is generally thought to be uniquely wholesome and happy. But there are several inherently terrifying aspects of pregnancy that have naturally been discussed through the medium of horror. To start with, pregnancy makes a person more vulnerable. While becoming physically weaker, pregnant people also have an additional life to protect as the pregnancy develops and the parent/s are closer to meeting their offspring face to face. It’s simply much harder to run or hide from a villain when you have a large baby bump or a crying infant to consider. Alice Lowe wrote and directed Prevenge (2016) which was shot in two weeks with the visibly pregnant Lowe as the star. Inside takes place on Christmas Eve where Sarah, an overdue expectant mother, prepares to give birth the following day. A strange visitor shows up with a very sharp pair of scissors and all hell breaks loose. Inside is a gruesome and bloody example of French new wave horror. The subtitles are worth watching the French version for, the film was remade in English in 2016 but viewers tend to agree it retains the violence while losing the magic of the original. House of the Devil (2009) While babysitting, Samantha watches George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968) both because it is creepy and because its in the public domain so the filmmakers didn’t have to pay anyone to use it. Okay, that is a touch overstated, but you can not dispute that pregnancy is a theme that seems to find its way into a horror film with relative ease. Pregnant women, particularly in horror films, are frequently depicted as easy targets, or to be more accurate vulnerable prey, and a pregnant woman is clearly not safe in a horror film. To top things, they also have a bunch of very odd-looking people watching them from a distance. However, it gets a tad too late when the couple finally unearths the threatening truth about their unborn child.They have started dating and there haven’t been any signs of Freddy off late. All seems to go well for a brief period until Freddy decides to be reborn into the real world. The taunting demonic killer makes use of a pregnant Alice, more specifically her unborn child’s dreams to strike again and claim new victims.
Boasting a well-written script by Lindsay Devlin, the film has Zach Gilford and Allison Miller in the leading roles, giving solid performances respectively. Devil’s Due happens to be yet another movie, one where the camera does the talking. One of the high points of the film is the way the story unfolds where things only get worse.

After all, pregnant ladies and horror films are practically synonymous, and they make such a charming couple!
