About this deal

My oldest said up until the last chapter it was a 5 star read. After the to-be-continued, it dropped to a 2 star. He didn't like that he'd been excited 'for nothing'. Since I am a librarian at an elementary school, I know firsthand how popular Dork Diaries are, and how both girls and boys love them. We agreed to book one in this new series as our nightly read, as the kids liked the cover, and it 'sounded fun'. I really enjoyed the book. I thought it was very funny, interesting and creative. One thing that I did not really like about the book was that Max’s family was never really involved. I don’t think I would change anything in the book besides involving the family a little more. Besides that, the book was awesome.

Op o.a. scholen wordt hiernaar kritisch gekeken. Mogelijk kan er een minder letterlijke vertaling uit het Amerikaansengels worden gehanteerd. Oh and of course he doesn't want to call the police, and why? Well easy reason: his parents. *rolls eyes* The bullying stuff was a bit meh (especially since it happened because of a small, unfortunate, accident), and I kept hoping that Max would find the guts to just tell someone about it (and no not Erin), but instead he keeps it to himself, and why? Because he is afraid his parents will pull him from school. Really? Ever heard of talking, maybe even with a counsellor of school present to help out? But I guess talking is for old people. Bestselling Dork Diaries author Rachel Renée Russell has done it again – her brand-new series is amazing!’ SPLAT magazine

Then the entire world will learn the truth about the night I MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared and NEVER returned to South Ridge Middle School! If you like Tom Gates, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and, of course, Dork Diaries you’ll love this very funny new book series’ The Sun Dork Diaries, written in a diary format, uses doodles, drawings, and comic strips to chronicle the daily life of the main character, Nikki Maxwell, as she struggles to fit in and survive middle school. The series is based on Russell's middle school experiences. Her daughter, Nikki, is the illustrator of the series. The main character, Nikki Maxwell, is named after her daughter. [1] Cleverly ending on a cliffhanger, full of brilliant illustrations and easy to follow text, this series is bound to be a hit with readers of all abilities!’ Hot Brands Cool Places My youngest, was a little more generous, and gave it a 3.5 star review, but added he too hated the way it ended.

MEATHEADS” is probably a better description. Even though they had the combined IQ of a red crayon, they were mean, ruthless, and very dangerous!Okay, that FUNK-TASTIC stench I’m smelling is actually the Dumpster, not my life. But STILL . . . ! Maxwell "Max" Crumbly: The main protagonist of the series. He was first homeschooled by his grandmother until his parents agreed to send him to a public school nearby, South Ridge Middle School. Max is a kind person who is loyal to his friends but he is often a coward when it comes to Doug bullying him. His father is a comic book addict and auto repairman, and has comics worth a lot of money. His mother is a nurse and coddles her children heavily. He also has a secret crush on Erin, but in the books, he tries to deny it. But they didn't. Nothing got resolved. NOTHING. My kids, who were on a high wondering how Max would solve the problem, crashed when it ended with a 'to be continued'. They were very upset. We'd been reading this book for nearly a month, and there was no resolution. No end to the story. One of them even said they'd felt 'ripped off'. Het zou prettig zijn geweest dat Max minder vaak ‘dood’ of ‘grote god’ in de mond zou nemen of iemand bijv. ‘zijn kop eraf zal rukken’. Het taalgebruik kan minder grof en genuanceerder. On the one hand, the writing is great. My kids laughed out loud, cheered, and gasped at all the right spots. They were hooked, begging for 'one more chapter' each time I'd go to close the book for the night. At the end of each chapter we'd make our guesses on what could happen next, and see if we were right when we did read it.
