About this deal

The No. 5909 is only 32Ω, so it will mesh with any source for power needs. You don’t really need an amp, but I have found the extra power in some portable amps will drive the wired connection even more smoothly than without.

So these headphones are made from a combination of memory-foam covered in leather (which looks, feels and even smells expensive), anodised aluminium and quite the priciest-feeling plastics ever deployed on a pair of wireless over-ear headphones costing less than a thousand pounds.

“Additionally, the available Mark Levinson audio system with 25 speakers will turn your ultra-luxe Lexus SUV into a concert hall if desired.” – On the Lexus LX 600

The fully discrete, direct-coupled, class AB amplifier channels get their power from an oversized (500+ VA) toroidal transformer with individual secondary windings for the left and right channels. The voltage gain stage employs a topology directly descended from the acclaimed Nº 534 amplifier, which is mated to an output stage comprising two high-speed driver transistors operating in class A and six 260V, 15A output transistors. Two Thermal-Trak devices in a unique configuration guarantee stable output bias regardless of load or temperature. Four 10,000-microfarad capacitors per channel, located directly on the output stage circuit board, easily provide enough current for a conservative 125W/channel at 8 ohms, nearly 250W/channel at 4 ohms, and stable operation down to 2 ohms. Variable line-level RCA outputs allow system expansion and flexibility.

As if out of the blue, their first venture into modern headphone craft has yielded this!? Yep. That sounds about right to me, they know what they are doing and it is vividly clear what the intent was with this No. 5909 model release. Archived from the original on 2007-04-21 . Retrieved 2007-05-06.In 1984, Levinson parted ways with MLAS and founded another audio equipment company; Cello Ltd. But, due to the grounds that he was a working trade name, MLAS launched a lawsuit attempting to prevent Levinson from working in the audio industry. Ultimately, Levinson lost the right to use his name as a trade name on an audio product in the future. Since this incident, Mark Levinson products have no relationship to the original owner and are now owned by Harman International. Mark Levinson's second new flagship separate within the 5000 series is the No. 5302 power amplifier (above), with custom-designed external heat sinks and front panel handles.

Mark Levinson (born December 11, 1946) is an American audio equipment designer, recording and mastering engineer, multi-instrumentalist musician, and serial entrepreneur. He was formerly married to the actress Kim Cattrall. The air factor is natural and enjoyable to the point I can listen for hours and not feel like I need more. Not many headphones opt for this type of sound, and I am glad they ended up sounding this way. You also get three adapters: a USB-A to USB-C in case your charger or PC uses the larger port, a 3.5mm to ¼-inch headphone adapter, and a two-prong airplane adapter for aircraft that still use this outdated design. With the exception of the 13-foot cable, all of these extras are stowed in a central zippered storage section. It hardly holds a candle to the exemplary battery life of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless at 60 hours of ANC-enabled play time, but it’ll get you through a full day (or flight) with ease, and for most folks, that’s enough.a b Bley, Paul (1999). Everything is fitted and finished with obvious care and precision, and the clamping force of the headband is nicely judged. By prevailing standards the No. 5909 are quite a compact design, and as a consequence they won’t swamp smaller-headed wearers like quite a few alternative designs do. The Mark Levinson No. 5101 was first teased just over a year ago (above) and is billed as a sleek 3-in-1 companion source for either the No. 5805 or No. 5802 stereo amps in the series. It's essentially a slot-loading SACD player and premium network streamer, with the company's PrecisionLink II DAC inbuilt. The active noise cancelation on this model is excellent. I simply do not have any other headphones that compare, nor have I owned any that can compare. The headphone is very smooth and easy to listen to. If you want a lower end, you can achieve it with the dedicated Mark Levinson App. If you want a more neutral tone, seek out a very neutral source and you can alter the tone a bit to lean that way instead of being highly musical and warmer than usual.
