About this deal

You know the scene; you stumble across a song on YouTube and settle for your laptop, tablet or smartphone's awful-sounding speaker system. That won’t happen with the Jam Heavy Metal – pairing is always worth the effort. The Jam Rhythm’s wireless reliability wasn’t perfect during testing either, but seemingly only because it didn’t get on too well with our Netgear Nighthawk X4S router, which has caused problems with other smaller-brand wireless speakers in the past. This speaker’s standard setup procedure is simple and clearly explained – and if you have any issues, the speaker also supports WPS pairing. The Jam Rhythm is a dinky wireless speaker. There’s no shortage of rivals in this class; top alternatives include the Sonos and the less impressive Bose SoundTouch 10. Jam Audio is fast becoming one of the most interesting lower-cost speaker companies on the market. The Jam Rhythm is a great speaker for those who just can’t justify the expense of a Sonos Play:1.

Crank the volume and you’ll eventually get a touch of hardness out of the Jam – those handclaps get a little too snappy – but the reach of the overall sound means you’re less inclined (metaphorically at least) to twist that dial. Destroy” from a distance means just that, keep your distance and keep to the law. How Do Speakers Work? It cuts out all the superficial fancy elements while retaining plenty of useful features and support for streaming services. Crucially, sound quality is strong too. Bass is impressive with the volume raised and balance is solid, making this speaker very easy to recommend to those on a tight budget. If there’s one thing the Jam Symphony forgoes to pay for that relatively low price, it’s the build quality. This speaker doesn’t feel flimsy and it isn’t unattractive, but neither does it offer the glamour or solidity of most speakers of this size. More useful, you can also set four favourites. These are accessed using the “favourite” button on the top panel. They might be radio stations, Tidal albums or Tidal playlists. You can’t use them for Spotify albums or playlists, though, because Spotify isn’t fully integrated into the app.

How do I assign presets?

We had a few router-specific issues with our Netgear test router during setup. It was a minor nightmare, but it worked just about perfectly once we’d switched to an Asus router. Jam Audio told us it is working on the Netgear issue. A mid-test firmware update has hugely increased reliability, but there are still sync issues with our Netgear router. Wait for your neighbours to play some music. Wait until they are truly enjoying the loud tunes coming from their speakers. This is the right time to set up your noise cancellation device. Getting wirelessly stereo-paired speakers to play together without perceptible delay is one of the main multiroom technical challenges. The Jam Rhythm does handle this, but you can actually hear it stumbling over the sync at the start of every streaming session. For the first second or so it’s as if the speakers are wildly out-of-sync before eventually lining up in what is the sound equivalent of the speaker tripping up on its laces. I'd love to see a revised version of the zero chills so I can connect all 4 or more together (you can only have 2 paired natively, but I can connect to both pairs on my phone just with audio sync issues at times also I could just connect them all via aux) with Bluetooth 5's higher bandwidth, better efficiency and longer range it is certainly possible and I would love for them to be louder (they are loud but I like having it over the top). Only a synthetic edge to the mid-range betrays the perhaps humble quality of the hardware, but I’ve heard far more expensive speakers suffer from similar issues.

This is what you’re going to do: Go to your neighbour’s house and kindly ask them to lower their volume or not to play their music for an excessive amount of time. Always consider all the possibly harmless and friendly solutions before heading to violence. The multiroom side of the Jam Symphony is all about groups. You can pair up multiple Jam Audio speakers, and choose whether they play the left or right channels, or both. Jam Symphony – Sound QualityCurrently, you can use it to access Spotify and Tidal on the traditional streaming services front, as well as the TuneIn and iHeart Radio internet radio services, plus any locally stored music.

The first step is to locate the exact position of your neighbour’s speakers in their house. Place the antenna and amplifier near that location but on the outside of their house. The optimal location will result in the effective destruction of the speakers. You’re all set up and ready for the destruction. It’s hard to complain too much at the price, though, especially when the sound is otherwise generous, smooth and clear. This is a great party speaker. Side-by-side with the Rhythm, I think most will prefer the Symphony’s fun tone – although personally I have a little more affection for the smaller speaker’s unusual tonal balance. Should you buy the Jam Symphony?Don’t rule out the similarly priced and smaller Sonos Play:1, though. While the Symphony sounds a lot larger and has more powerful bass, it isn’t as full-bodied in the mid-range and the accompanying software is less impressive. There are some quirks in the software, too. However, for a brand-new budget multiroom speaker family, the Rhythm works well. After confirming that your mobile device is connected to your home WiFi network, open the JAM WiFi App. If your speakers still cannot be found, please continue to the next steps.
