About this deal

The Horns of Hashut are an interesting warband. The first fact we should mention immediately is that they are a nice provocation to all Chaos Dwarves players who venerated Hashut during Warhammer Fantasy and that have been waiting for a relaunch of their favourite army since they were first mentioned in the many lore bits.

Setting this aside, this warband came out with the Warcry Starter Set and immediately draws comparison with the Rotmire Creed. They have a ranged unit, that can make the difference in some contexts, although not extremely damaging (1/5) and not that great of a range either (6″), but it is a flamethrower so you can’t expect much more. Addáiòs • Aesha • Anath • Athaerti • Drakira • Erek • Estreuth • Isha • Khaine • Kurnoth • Ladriella • Lileath • Mathlann • Morai-Heg • Néthu • ThialAs with most things in Warhammer, we can tell that the Witherlord is the warband leader because they have the biggest hat. Unlike their less important followers, they wear stilts to keep their feet out of the foul swamp waters, and they’ve made friends with a lumptoad, which will be harvested for its paralysing saliva. Centaurion Marshal - Chaos Lord - Chaos Sorcerer Lord - Darkoath Chieftain - Darkoath Warqueen - Exalted Hero of Chaos - Ogroid Myrmidon While most of his followers are duardin (dwarves) corrupted by the forces of Chaos, any race can be enrolled in Hashut quest to transform everything in ashen wasteland. In particular all those that choose survival instead of uttermost destruction as Hashut’s armies leave nothing standing on their trail. Horns of Hashut warbands are led by the Ruinator Alpha – the most ruthless and tyrannical of the followers of the Father of Darkness. In battle, they wield a mighty twin-pronged spear or a devastating flail.

Just for fun here we present few thematic warbands, meant more for fun or narrative context than for competitive play. Note that in narrative play you need to complete a quest that allows you to recruit a Hero before being able to add him to your roster. The Horns of Hashut were previously available only in the Heart of Ghur launch set, but they now have their own stand-alone box that allows to build: Hashut is worshipped as a god of fire and tyranny that demands eternal subjugation in return for providing the strength to survive and prosper. He is fond of combining dark sorcery with forge-craft, secrets of which are granted to his followers to produce nightmarish daemon engines and weapons of mass destruction. His followers have conquered many territories of the Mortal Realms and transformed them into ashen wastelands upon which daemon-forges and mustering grounds are erected. [7] Worshippers The exact nature of the Father of Darkness is only to his most loyal prophets. Others have provided many theories on the origins of deity such as a demonic abomination, an ancient daemon prince to some other foul entity. For the first time facing the prospect of failure, that in Hashut terms means a punishment worse than death, hope was rekindled by the discovery of the existence of the ruins of Talaxis in the core of the Gnarlwood that is rumoured to be able to change reality itself. And so the Horns march forward destroying everything in their path, in the search of these ruins. The Demolishers come in 3 different versions, but the one with Flamehurler distinguishes himself from the group. He is the only fighter of this warband, apart from the leaders, to have his own ability: Engulfing Flames of Dark Artifice. For a Triple you can select a fighter within 6″ and roll as many dice as the ability’s value, for each 4+ allocate 3 damage. Then select all enemy fighters within 2″ of your target and roll half of those dice for the same outcome. The Bloated Ones have been most blessed by their god, Lord Leech. While they might not realise it yet, they’re already a long way down the same path as the Putrid Blightkings . The Horns of Hashut have been tasked with laying waste to the entire Gnarlwood . They know if they can find the crashed Seraphon void-ship known as the Eye of Chotec, they will be able to use its terraforming engines to transform the lush forest into a volcanic, ashen desert – Hashut prefers a beach holiday to a jungle cruise. The new boxed set features both of these warbands alongside the stunning Gnarlwood scenery , and it’s just the beginning of a dramatic new season of Warcry. Heart of Ghur will be followed up with major quarterly releases featuring brand new miniatures, and more terrain to expand your corner of the Gnarlwood.

Stampede of Iron (Double, Everyone except Shatterer): A chance to do up to 6 damage at the end of a move action after engaging an enemy. The reaction Breath of Cinder and Smokes, allows to subtract 1 from Strength used in melee and allocate 3 damage on a fighter ending a move within 3″ of a fighter with this ability, if the roll of the dice is equal or grater than their Toughness. Considering it costs an action, it can be useful to further weaken an enemy that is engaging you, hoping to get to the 5 wounds that would enable Merciless Cruelty. However, since you can’t do more than 3 damage, your best chance is to reduce Strength taking advantage of the average Toughness 4 of the warband. Ruinator Alphas in general would to more damage on their action and rather not use this reaction. Though their ranks consist almost entirely of humans, the Horns of Hashut worship the evil duardin deity of the same name, a shadowy deity with an unquenchable lust for domination and cruelty. In exchange for their continued existence, these masked war-thralls have sworn themselves utterly to the worship of this dark entity and the service of his tyrannical followers. [1a] Role So these are definitely the human forces of Hashut but from the sound of things there will be even more of them on the way. The next question I have is if these forces are going to play nice with the other chaos forces or not? And will they be able to borrow some Hobgrots in their army. The new Horns of Hashut warband certainly opens up a lot of interesting options for the future and could be the introduction for a new/revamp chaos duardin army. Horns of Hashut And Thonida Having lived in foetid swamplands for their entire lives, the Rotmire Creed have made the most of their surroundings. Their clothing and weaponry are all organic in nature, and they carry very few items with a smooth, manufactured finish. In many places, they are covered in moss and lichen – you can take the Creed out of the swamp, but you can’t take the swamp out of the Creed.

Well, aside from the fact that Hashut has shown some interest, they are also after the same artifact as the Rotmire Creed. They want the Eye of Chotec. But unlike the Rotmire Creed they don’t want to turn Thondia into a plague-filled swamp. They want to make Thonida a volcanic, ashen desert.

What: A chance, depending on the enemy Toughness, to do 3 damage and reduce Strength on melee by 1. They have been tasked to destroy the Gnarlwood as a starting point for Hashut conquest of Thondia, an alpha continent in the Realm of Beasts. But this task proved too difficult for them as every tree they felt, every stratagem they adopted to wound the land, was rebuked by Ghur. The warband reaction is also available to all except the Shatterer, and is an interesting one as it’s a trade-off. On one side you have a chance to do 3 damage and reduce the enemy’s Strength, on the other that action could be used to do much more damage. Also the chance depends on comparing a dice roll with the enemy Toughness. Toughness that could have been reduced with an Ash Bomb earlier but that can otherwise be quite high, risking to have a 50/50 chance to not do anything on a single die roll and lose the action. The Warhammer Studio: Throughout the entire Warcry project we have tried to describe cultures and societies that sit somewhere alongside or even outside of our main miniatures ranges. It allows us to worldbuild in interesting ways, and affords us the use of varying aesthetics and methods of warfare that perhaps our main miniatures ranges don’t accommodate. It also fits with the ‘Path to Glory’ theme you get with a game like Warcry – a societal view looking from the bottom to the top, rather than our usual top-down perspective.
