But nothing. Nothing. Infuriates me more than strangers shoving their noses into someone's family business. Karina wants Viktor. She demanded Kirill hand him over to her and Kirill despite it all says he wouldn’t want anyone else for his sister though Viktor is hesitating and doesn’t show any interest (but we can assume it’s end game). My heart officially belongs to Kirill and Sasha. This was the perfect ending for these two. I am head over heels in love with this trilogy. I have anxiously been waiting for this book, because book 2 had me in tears. I always trust in the process when it comes to Rina Kent books, and she has proven yet again that you need to just trust her. This book exceeded my expectations, it was more than I could have hoped for, and yet again had me in tears.

So after reaching about the halfway mark, something profound has occurred to me. I looked up to the sky and thought....... why am I doing this to myself? And that's the story of the first time I put my mental health first😌 Yea she threw something alright😭😭🤣🤣🤣 did no one tell her that saving the gun is useless when you throw the body it's meant to protect in the first place. THE TWISTS. I can’t even- no spoilers, but even when I thought I’d had it all figured out, Rina threw me through more loops. We have plenty of action, but I also love how intimate and introspective this story is too. We’re set up for an epic battle of families, past clashing with the present, but the best part was watching Sasha and Kirill reinvent themselves, finding their new normal, being open in ways we’ve not yet gotten to explore. Their relationship really deepens in this now that so many barriers are removed, and I love how they find a genuine partnership and true trust. We get to see how steady they make each other and how they complete each other, the story more heart focused and character focused, and I loved that. the only things i trult liked in this book were anton/maksim, wish there were more moments of them because i would have happily read about them.Adrian was mentioned and made quite a few appearances and I can assume this is before Lia existed in his life but still made me super happy! We know this timeline is YEARS before Rai finds out Sasha is a woman after they were kidnapped....I wonder how Kirill and her both keep working together if her uncle reveals Kirill was the reason her family died? This book takes place first in the army. A few months over goes by and they end up in the failed mission. As for Sasha, she is strong, fierce, loyal and a complete spitfire. She absolutely complements Kirill and is his equal in every way that matters. I love how she is able to bring out the soft side of him. These two are the perfect pair and I absolutely loved reading their story. I read the deception trilogy and knew about Kirill and his bodyguard Sasha since then, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read an entire trilogy or even a book about them. However, I love everything Rina Kent puts out there, so I started this one with a grain of salt and ended loving it from the start. The story started with a bang and I loved the first few meetings between these two. They are both strong characters, though both suffer from nightmares about their respective pasts.

IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when I realized that RK included at least one character with two functioning brain cells in this book and that character, blessed be his soul, turned out to be our Russian mafia prince hero — Kirill. He immediately discovers what a big fat terrible secret Sasha has up her sleeve so no "wtf, am I gay" hysterical revelations for us from this guy. ❤️ Thank god for small mercies, love me some originality (but in strictly small doses). Overall, this is really a very solid trilogy. I did not feel that the 3 books is unnecessary, the story is worth it. Was Sasha's attempt to protect Kirill during the kidnapping and take his place instead her way of showing him she loves him, and she hopes he will forgive her? Because she does say ''forgive me'' right before she runs to get captured. I don’t like constant groveling. Half the book is Sasha fighting her feelings and I find that boring. This also means less intimate scenes which should be the best in a trilogy but not so many in this book. Sasha always regrets not telling Kirill stuff in the end and fighting her feelings. Yes he manipulated but he was also there for her. he didn’t even seem to like his own kid either. but all of it was written like i should find it funny. the humour was incredibly forced, the try-hard energy made me wince the whole time. The Story: It is always hard to write a review of a second or third book in a trilogy without giving things away, especially ones like Rina Kent writes since there is always a killer cliffhanger at the end of the previous book. This one is no exception. Though I don’t think it is giving anything away to let you know that things are no longer copasetic between Sasha and Kirill. She no longer believes the shady lies he has been feeding her. I love how Kirill cares about Karina and still hugs her even when she threatens him and curses him. I can't wait for Karina to forgive her brother. Also, I'm dying because I know Karina has a crush on Sasha! 💀 Kirill would surely lose it if he found out his sister's feelings! Sasha, this cutie 😭 Sasha, disguised as a boy named Aleksander, is in the military to get closer to higher-ups and gather information about her family's massacre, to seek revenge on those responsible. Her sole purpose is revenge! I personally loved her character, and while she had some characteristics similar to Rina's fmcs, she was unique. She had a great childhood with her best brothers and cousins... until they were all killed when she was 16. I admired how she aimed to become stronger every day, pursuing her goals regardless of others' opinions! 💗

I didn't mention the side characters since they didn't make much of an impact on me, but they weren't boring, that's for sure. Do you see what I mean about being unserious? You can't even make one good logical decision, who's heart are you going to crush. Idiot. It's confirmed to him completely when they are forced to hide during a mission gone wrong. She explains she is a woman but is forced to live as a man for safety and who knew we needed a one bed trope for these two? And we got it! They both find each other attractive and obviously want one another.Does Kirill escape with the help of Sasha and plot to destroy her uncle when the real truth is revealed? It was boring and bland in parts, and I'm not a fan of drama and action relying on characters' stupidity. It detracts from the thrill and unpredictability of the plot per se. The journey for Sasha and Kirill has not been an easy one. Both broken and jaded, secrets, betrayal, anger and tensions have these two at a crossroads, both with their own agendas, but their love for one another is something that cant be denied or fought any longer. Pls don't mind me trying to make sense of the inner workings of the "female in disguise" trope in particular and RK's book universe in general. I know it's not that deep, and everyone who's familiar with RK understands how absolutely crucial it's to practice suspension of disbelief before even thinking of delving into her books. All that planning and instead of marrying her, Konsta married her that day instead and Kirill was named Pakhan. Everything was working out the way he wanted it, and instead of having Sasha be away for the original 6 months planned, he said 3 months would be enough now and he could have HIS WIFE finally at his side.
