About this deal

While the Leaky Cauldron was a favourite hangout for the magical community, its patronage took a turn for the worse in the summer of 1996, during the beginning of the Second Wizarding War. With Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters moving in the open, many witches and wizards avoided public places as much as possible, including the Leaky Cauldron. When Harry Potter, Rubeus Hagrid, and the Weasley family passed through the Leaky Cauldron that summer on his way to Diagon Alley, they noticed that the bar was empty with the exception of Tom. [15] While the pub was, from the first, a place for witches and wizards to congregate — whether Londoners or out-of-towners up for the day to shop for the latest magical ingredients or devicesn— Muggles were not turned away or made to feel unwelcome, even though some of the conversations, not to mention pets, caused many an unwary Muggle to leave without finishing his or her mead. [1] For centuries, it was a noisy place that was a hive of activity and the stalls were often a little unruly. So, the decision was made to redesign the market in 1881. In the summer of 1993, as well as stopping there for drinks, Harry Potter stayed at the inn for a time, having accidentally blown up his Aunt Marge. He also met Cornelius Fudge in a private room for the first time. [13] [14] Obviously I was incredibly excited as I descended the stairs, newly-acquired wand in hand into the potions room where all of the fun happens.

I’d heard rumours about The Cauldron, London’s answer to Professor Snape’s potion room popping up around town. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (video game) (Console versions) - "There's more than Butterbeer down in the cellar, y'know, Mr Potter." Experience a molecular Potions Class that brings magic to life. But don't delay, Wizard, because our menu changes with the seasons. Here's what we're brewing at the moment... The Reaping

The market is a little hidden away from the main road but it can be accessed via Leadenhall Street, Fenchurch Street, and Gracechurch Street. After you visit, you may want to head over to the Millennium Bridge that’s nearby along with the London City Hall and Borough Market that both feature as filming locations.

The decor is fantastic, very atmospheric and lots of attention to detail taken in regards to all things magical - we took a lot of photos! Charing Cross Road (where the Leaky Cauldron is located) is actually several centuries younger than the Leaky Cauldron itself. Charing Cross Road was created in mid 18th century by rebuilding and merging two elder streets. This also means that Leaky Cauldron cannot be located in the middle part of the road (between the intersections with Carnbour Street and Shaftesbury Avenue) because this is the part that was most transformed and reshaped by the creation of Charing Cross Road. The Leaky Cauldron can be located in its southern third (formerly known as Castle Street) or in its northern third (formerly known as Crown Street or Hog Lane). The exact location is unknown, there is only a brief mention in the first book that it is located between a bookshop and a record store that were in Charing Cross Road in the early 1990s.Before the Diagon Alley expansion at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, one could find Potage's Cauldron Shop (actually just a fake storefront) in Hogsmeade. Following the expansion, it was replaced by Ceridwen's Cauldrons. In Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4/ LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, The Leaky Cauldron is a shop in Diagon Alley, not the entrance. Immerse yourself in the dark enchantment of The Reaping, a haunting celebration of the harvest, hearth, and the thinning of the veil between worlds. The experience was spot on, very friendly staff. The make-yourself-drinks were very well organised with lots of lovely magical kit and potion bottles etc. We had lots of fun making these together. Is Leadenhall Market open? YES! The structure of Leadenhall Market is always open to the public 24 hours a day as a tourist attraction in London.

When was Leadenhall Market built? It’s one of the oldest markets halls in London and was originally built in the 14th-century. But, the market you see today was designed in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones which is why it’s so popular!

Cauldrons have had a magical association for centuries. They appear in hundreds of years' worth of pictures of witches, and are also supposed to be where leprechauns keep treasure. Many folk and fairy tales make mention of cauldrons with special powers, but in the Harry Potter books they are a fairly mundane tool. I did consider making Helga Hufflepuff's hallow a cauldron, but there was something slightly comical and incongruous about having such a large and heavy Horcrux; I wanted the objects Harry had to find to be smaller and more portable. However, a cauldron appears both in the four mythical jewels of Ireland (its magical power was that nobody ever went away from it unsatisfied) and in the legend of The Thirteen Treasures of Britain (the cauldron of Dyrnwch the giant would cook meat for brave men, but not for cowards)." Tom lived on until the ripe old age of 37 and eventually died of natural causes – which is pretty impressive for a Gander goose at a poultry market! We were enthusiastically greeted by Lewi and Kira before we’d even made it to the bottom of the stairs! Lewi went over all the details with us and his positivity was brilliant. This was the first wizarding location, aside from the Leaky Cauldron, to be introduced in the series. The shop's name is not revealed in the books. It is only given in a tour of Diagon Alley included on the DVD of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and in the Game Boy Color version of
