Patrón tequila is made at the Hacienda Patrón, a colonial mansion located in the Jalisco Highlands in Mexico.

After three days of fermentation, the liquid—or mosto—is distilled in copper pot stills before being aged in oak barrels. Most tequilas are simply aged in American White Oak barrels, but Patrón uses a variety of different woods to create more flavor complexity. Additionally, they have numerous other special releases, each strictly limited and often sheer impossible to get. Together with freelance distilling consultant Francisco Alcaraz, they created their first batches in the historic Siete Leguas distillery. It was a wild and adventurous journey with many bold moves that cemented Patrón's leading position in the Tequila and spirits industry. Not only does the brand produce excellent spirits they also have some tasty liqueurs. Their coffee liqueur called XO Cafeand Citrónge Orangeare the most popular. Tequila may have a wild and crazy reputation, but this unique spirit is created according to strict guidelines, guaranteeing authenticity and consistency. It’s distilled from the fermented juice of the Weber blue agave plant, and comes only from a specified region of Mexico, centered around the western state of Jalisco. The fermentation length, temperature and yeast affect the development of flavor compounds or congeners that produce a specific tequila style. Some producers add piña fibers called bagasse to the fermentation vessel to enhance the complexity of the spirit. Regulations demand that tequila be double-distilled in pot stills, or produced with a continuous still that has at least two columns. Patrón's reposado and añejo tequilas are best enjoyed neat at room temperature. Yet, the standard silver expression performs best in mixed drinks. Use it in a classic Margarita recipe or in a fruity variation. Especially in combination with berries or grapefruit, the spirit shines.
