Awesome book with lots to love! If you’re a fan of horror and/or you like a strange story you should definitely go for this! I highly recommend this one and can’t wait for the next volume! His relationship between Gideon and Stan is similar to relationships between Plankton and Mr. Krabs in SpongeBob SquarePants. There’s a lot to admire about this series beyond the artwork as well. Lemire once again creates a twisted, somewhat fantastical, nightmarish reality in Gideon Falls. Something is always off putting, and nothing is ever quite as it seems. Sharp writing with good characters + a super unique & mystifying mystery at the beginning of the series.

I know Lemire and Sorrentino work together a lot and you can tell they just get each other. This was easily the darkest and best I’ve seen Sorrentino, the art couldn’t have been more perfect. Issue #5 - pretty cool artwork. I especially like the different styles between Norton‘s and Father Fred‘s story.

The art is fantastic! Sorrentino’s gritty style suits this book perfectly! It sorta reminds me of a mix of Azaceta and Sean Phillips which is something I say with the highest compliments. An amazing artist! One of the characters wears a dust mask and this probably seemed weird in 2018 but reading this post-Covid I almost didn’t notice. The creative team behind Old Man Logan, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino, reunite for their first Image series, Gideon Falls. And it’s not very good! Nun Too Holy: Downplayed with Father Fred. He has drinking and assault and adultery under his belt, but he's genuinely penintent for his sins and wants to leave them in the past. The second volume flows smoothly on from there, with people getting involved with each other and with the case. Here, the matching up of the two worlds to tie everything together is still great fun. And that was as far as the reviewing gods allowed me to get, only a third of the way through this mind-boggling drama.

Artists

This is so much better when read in a bigger trade. I'm always a fan of Jeff Lemire, the illustrations by Sorrentino just happen to add to the surrealism of this situation. All by building off of a concept from Lemire in regards to obsessions. Because really, when hasn't anybody heard that everything in a person's life built up to a specific moment.

En este caso, y teniendo en cuenta la temática y el tono, puede recordar mucho al gran Stephen King que siempre recurre a este tipo de entornos en sus novelas. Los dos tomos anteriores se han centrado en presentar personajes y empezar a colocar las primeras piezas de la trama de forma deliberadamente confusa para que no comprendamos del todo lo que está ocurriendo. Sin embargo, en este tercer volumen Lemire ya nos da muchas pistas de por donde van los tiros.Gideon Falls is a masterfully crafted ‘southern gothic’ horror story, punctuated by richly textured and surreal art. The panels meld together in mind-melting fashion without losing the flow of the narrative – the work is utterly stunning. Furthermore, the story is consistently unsettling and has a pervasive sense of dark mystery that draws the reader deep into its twisted confines.
