About this deal

Another normal option would be a different paint brand that's a similar colour, but a higher pigment content, but it's a hard colour to match. Instar blue steel is a very close one according to my paint app (it's intended to be a direct swap for fenrisian, so that makes sense!), but I've found instar standard paints to be roughly equivalent to layer paint coverage, so that doesn't help you any I'm afraid. None of the high-pigment ranges I know of have anything particularly close alas. Only the Space Wolves have the superhuman constitution to hunt these fearsome creatures that haunt the perpetually ice-ridden storms that could flay the skin from a lesser creature. This is an extreme version of the ritual Fenrisian hunt known as the "Lone Hunt." It is believed that this is an initiation ritual to the upper echelons of the Wolf Guard. Legend has it that those that have joined with a Thunderwolf, do so on a spiritual and sometimes even mental level. By force of will or mutual respect, lesser Fenrisian wolfkin will obey Thunderwolves' snarled commands. Mephiston Red: This is a bright, cool red that can be used as a highlight color on the armor and weapons of figures painted with Fenrisian Grey. It can also be used to create a complementary color scheme. At this point, you’ll probably find paint from the drybrushing has gotten onto the armour. Simply neaten everything up with Russ Grey before continuing. Step 5 – Apply Armour Shading

The Horus Heresy Book Seven - Inferno (Forge World Series) by Alan Bligh, pp. 76-77, 79 (Fenrisian Speculation) I first airbrushed the tank solid VMC Khaki, the same color as the fatigues of my guardsmen. I then varnished over it.Shade all the Eshin Grey joint areas of the armour with NuIn Oil. Take care to keep it off the Russ Grey coloured armour. Again, if you make a mistake, just let it dry fully and tidy up with some Russ Grey. Step 6 – Highlight the Armour Fenrisian Grey – Air Paint is an acrylic paint with a matte finish, which is made from a combination of pigments and binders. This paint is a versatile grey color that can be used as a foundation for many different miniature painting projects, providing a smooth and even coverage. This paint can be used as a basecoat to provide a neutral tone to your miniatures, making it perfect for beginners and those who want to create a foundation for more advanced techniques. The color of this paint can be compared to a stormy sky, which is a perfect metaphor for the harsh and unforgiving environment of the Warhammer 40k universe. What armies to paint with Fenrisian Grey – Air Paint This means you just want to run the shade into the grooves and edges of the armour and not all over the model. If you make a mistake, simply let it dry and tidy up with some Russ Grey. Pre-covering with a similar base colour (or mix) as suggested so the layer paint has to do less work is the easiest option, or use an airbrush to make laying down multiple thin layers more tolerable. Fangir - Fangir is the monstrous Thunderwolf ridden by Canis Wolfborn. It is said that he is strong as a mastodon and as tall at the shoulder as a Fenrisian Ice Troll.

BUT, if you really want to match it exactly, unless someone has specfically tried a certain paint and KNOWS it to match (which is often the case with the old GW line, not so much the new line), my suggestion would be save yourself the time and money of buying half a dozen different paints only to find they are all subtly different Don’t worry if you make any mistakes. Just let it dry and tidy up with Russ Grey. Step 7 – Apply Edge HighlightsNow here is the area you can put a little flair and extra colors. For my specialists, I wanted them to feel like part of my army, so I kept largely the same color palette, just adding dashes of other colors into the mix, and changing the locations to make them look special without making them look like they don’t belong. I applied sponge chipping. I hit the decals and colored areas with a little bit of VMC khaki to simulate chipping down to the base paint layer. Then I went over the entire model with Skavenblight Dinge sponge chipping. I then sponge chipped with leadbelcher very sparingly. it’s easy to go overboard witht he metallics. You can, however, decide to go on and add some battle damage to your mini by following these steps.

Starting from the left in the front, the commissar uses the same color palette as my guardsmen. The only additional colors involved are the brass frogging, epaulettes and other details. (VMC Hammered Copper), and the grey greatcoat and fatigues, are a slightly different shade of grey to the armor. Highlight the eyes and wrist screens with Warpstone Glow (Optional: Add a final highlight of Moot Green). As for the paints ruining brushes thats something I've not heard before - how are you cleaing them after use and do you ever use brush soap on them after use (you could try a little bit of human hair conditioner on them as a replacement for soap)? How far up the tip are you allowing paint? I try not to let it go more than around halfway up myself and I NEVER let it get to the metal banding (the ferulle I think its called) as thats almsoa guaranteed death sentence for a brush.

The Ymyr Conglomerate was the natural fit for me, because it’s the red one. I approached this very similarly to how I approach my Blood Angels and Sisters of Battle, by starting from a Mephiston Red prime – if most of the model is going to be red, it may as well start that way! Coats: I started by painting the entire model (save the weapons) in Steel Legion Drab. I layered up the coat with Tallarn Sand, leaving Steel Legion Drab in the recesses. Finally, I highlighted the edges with Karak Stone. I then applied the transfers, spraying varnish over them. (This is the last bit of varnish until the end, I swear). Drybrush the dirt with Steel Legion Drab followed by a lighter drybrush of Gorthor Brown (optional: do a final light drybrush of Ushabti Bone)

Face & Beard – Paint the whole face Cadian Fleshtone. Layer with Kislev Flesh. Highlight with Flayed One Flesh. Steel Legion Drab, Tallarn Sand, Agrax Earthshade wash. Leather straps the same as the boots and straps on the infantry – Rhinox Hide, Agrax Earthshade, and Doombull Brown. Answer is… run real light on infantry, convert lots of monsters and vehicles and Rough Riders and Ogryns, and lose plenty of games! At least that’s my technique. Closest thing to ‘real’ advice would be “paint in squads of ten, break them up with fun centerpiece models.” Averland Sunset: This is a warm, yellow paint that can be used to create a sense of balance and harmony with Fenrisian Grey. It can also be used to create a split-complementary color scheme. The hexadecimal color code #719bb7 is a shade of cyan-blue. In the RGB color model #719bb7 is comprised of 44.31% red, 60.78% green and 71.76% blue. In the HSL color space #719bb7 has a hue of 204° (degrees), 33% saturation and 58% lightness. This color has an approximate wavelength of 481.75 nm.
