About this deal

I liked the choice of colours, metal brass fittings, and I got the feeling that it was well-made and would hold up well if dragged around a lot.

Best alternative: The FitLife Expandable Garden Hose Pipe or the ANSIO Garden Hose Pipe Expandable Water Hose These happen to have the best 100ft hoses in my opinion too. [tested and proven personally] This is as heavy duty and close to commercial quality as you’ll get here. Another point in favour of this spray head is that it connects to the hose using brass fittings. Many expandable hoses connect to the spray head with a plastic fitting, which can prove to be a weak point over time. Some features to look for in a nozzle include an ergonomic design that helps with ease of use, durability, and several spray patterns. Although it costs a little more to buy a hose and nozzle separately, it may be worth finding the corresponding model for each one. Color

Then run the water out of the hose and wind it up on the hanger or coil it up if you don’t have a stand for it. It’s light, weighing only 2.3 kg, and you don’t feel like you’re partaking in resistance-training as you move it around your garden. Even so, it’s still made of sturdy stuff. Despite the extra weight, the high quality, brass tap connectors did a great job of keeping the hose connected to the water supply with no leakage, even from a kitchen sink tap. There is also a reducer included so even if you have smaller than standard taps, you shouldn’t have problems connecting this ANSIO hose. Accessories are a must when it comes to hoses. There are brands that do not offer accessories and that is a shame because you just want to use the hose right out the box. Brands that do offer accessories come in handy as the accessories elevate the user experience. Some of the common accessories include adapters, storage bags, hose hangers and couplers among others. These accessories allow you to use and store your hose with no problems. You would be surprised that a bit of peace of mind goes a long way. I also really like that its one of the only expandable hoses that comes with a two way tap splitter;

Layers of latex – the more layers of latex that a hose has, the more durable it is. Most expandable hoses have 2 – 3 layers of latex. That said, the Fitlife Garden Hose featured on the above list has 13.

My Top Recommended Expandable Garden Hoses

Bathing pets: The gentle water flow from an expandable hose makes it a good tool for bathing your dog or cat. Connect a suitable attachment or use a handheld sprayer to give your furry friends a comfortable and thorough cleaning. Question: I need an expandable hose for watering my allotment. The distance from the tap to plot is 100ft . Ideally I need a hose that extends to 150ft. Can one join two expandable hoses together? The exterior of your hose will likely feature a durable fabric cover. However, the hose core can be made of one of two materials: The Ailuze expandable hose is built with 4 outer layers for increased durability with a natural latex core. The level of power provided by this hose is excellent, especially compared to other expandable models, and it comes with an 8-setting spray head – it’s just as useful for washing the car as it is for watering the plants.

The materials used in the construction of expandable hoses is lightweight. Along with the short length of the at-rest hose, this makes the hose light and easy to move around. They also don’t kink and tangle. What are the advantages of using an expandable hose over a regular garden hose? Smaller at-rest state In general, the number of feet or metres in the name or title of an expandable hose is the expanded length. I found expandable hoses of lengths 7.5m, 15m, 20m, 30m and 40m. I’m sure that there are other lengths as well. The outer layer of the pipe also felt like it would wear off or deteriorate if abused and dragged on hard surfaces (compared to two of the other hoses I tested). Some expandable hoses have nozzles that allow you to change the spray pattern. Pay close attention to the product description of your hose to ensure you know whether a nozzle is included.Expandable hoses are available in different lengths. Remember that they expand out to three times their at-rest length. For example, a hose that’s 5m long without water in it expands out to 15m when you use it to water your plants. But getting to the crux of the test – the hose flexibility. I have to say when these first arrived in the UK they were pretty spindly. Since testing and R & D has happened they are now three layers of flexi PVC – this is a long way forward from where they were right at the beginning. Some hoses also state a maximum pressure that they can withstand in the instructions. Failure to keep to this pressure may result in leaks or even in the hose bursting.

TheFitLife hose also has a 180 day risk free service so you can buy, knowing you will be able to test it out and make sure you’re happy without losing money. The first thing you’re going to notice is just how nice the hose feels in your hand. You could be mistaken for thinking it’s a cloth like material! And it get’s better. When you compare it directly to it’s main competitors the Ansio and the FIT, this is definitely equal in quality; the brass hose connectors, quality kink free hose, and all the accessories you need to get going such as half inch reducers for smaller garden taps. Note, most taps are 3/4 these days but again it’s a nice touch. There are a few issues though, but before we get going let’s have a look at my short video setting this up and getting it going / using it: The elasticated fabric casing that surrounds the expandable hose is hardwearing; however, you do still need to take care dragging it across very rough terrain. That said, it will stand up well to regular usage, and can handle sharp corners too. The other real benefit is that they are very lightweight compared to regular hoses. They do not need a reel or to be wall mounted either. I connected this hose to my tap and allowed the hose to expand fully, I then sprayed my flowerbeds with the water. I repeated this over several days and I also:

If you want to use it for sprinklers or anything that requires a constant flow of water, it won’t stay expanded at its full length and will shrink unless you can control the flow rate, so look for hoses that allow you to do this. There are two major materials used when creating the core of the expandable hose and they all have their advantages. Thermoplastic polyester (TCP) expands well and it also happens to be heat-resistant. The heat resistant abilities are convenient when making hoses that can be used for hot water cleaning procedures. Used in many industries, TCP costs more than its latex counterparts. Upon connecting the replacement to the tap, it leaked at the point where the hose entered the fitting. Cleaning windows and outdoor furniture: Attach a soft bristle brush or sponge to the end of the hose to clean windows, outdoor furniture, and other delicate surfaces. The adjustable spray settings will help you achieve the proper water pressure for each task. This expandable hose has brass fittings, thank goodness that manufacturers seem to have stopped using plastic ones now as they were just never up to job.
