About this deal

Ei146E features a brand new updated aesthetic, with cleaner, more modern styling alongside a new, slimmer construction than its predecessor the Ei146RC. Features of Aico EI146E Interruptions of the mains power can be due to several reasons, including incorrect wiring (e.g. if the power supply comes from the lighting system and the alarm is incorrectly wired to the switched part of the circuit or when neutral/earth wiring are reversed), tripped fuses/circuit breakers, loose wires and general power failure. Electrical spikes can also cause false alarms or damage the smoke alarms. Smoke detector is off the ceiling and the battery has been removed but the beeping continues

The most common source of false alarms in smoke detectors is contamination (such as dust and small insects) within the sensor chamber. Cleaning the unit by either vacuuming around the central detection chamber or blowing it out with the cold setting on a hair dryer normally resolves this issue. A new Ei161 alarm has been installed but is randomly emitting short (1-2 seconds) alarm beeping sounds. Solution It is possible to interconnect the EI146E alarm with other accessories and alarms via a hard-wired connection or, to minimise disruption and mess, by a wireless RadioLINK interconnection. The EI146E optical smoke alarm is also compatible via wireless interconnection with the RadioLINK Ei168RC Base. Installation is made fast and easy thanks to the easi-fit base (supplied), combined with simple detector head removal and replacement. The Ei146E Optical Smoke Alarm may operate as a standalone alarm or may be interconnected to other alarms via a wired or wireless system and when interconnected all alarms in the system will sound if a fire is detected.

Key Product Features

If a smoke detector is removed from the base and the battery is also removed, the alarm might still hold some residual charge and beep for up to a minute. Pressing the test button for about 10 seconds will discharge the circuitry.

In an interlinked system when one unit detects smoke, all alarms sound. To silence the alarms in case of a false alarm, press the hush button on the unit that has detected the smoke. This will silence all interlinked alarms. The Aico EI146E smoke alarm provides a sealed mesh to guard against insects as well as automatic compensation for dust. It also boasts an optical proven smoke chamber that ensures advanced fire detection while reducing any unwanted tripping. As this smoke chamber will automatically self-test every forty seconds, it gives warning in advance about any unit degradation. Mains powered Ei Electronics smoke and heat alarms require a 230V AC power supply and up to 12 alarms can be hardwire interlinked in one system. One of the Ei168 radio bases flashes amber light every 10 seconds. All other bases in the group are fine. SolutionThe amber light may flash for one of two reasons; firstly it may be indicating the base is in House Code mode (used while setting up new networks of radio-interlinked alarms). House Code mode is automatically exited after 30 minutes or can be manually exited by inserting a screwdriver in the House Code slot and holding the House Code switch until the amber light turns on. Once a solid amber light appears release the switch and the amber light should stop flashing. It would appear that the system has been house coded incorrectly or something is disturbing the signal. If the units have not yet been house coded, the instructions supplied with the unit should be followed to do this. In most situations this will resolve the problem. Make sure you look after your smoke alarms by changing batteries and testing the unit on a regular basis. We offer free reminder services to ensure you remember to do your alarm test and to change the battery. The alarm is fitted with a Test/ Hush button to facilitate frequent testing of the alarm and system and The silence function allows the alarm/ system to be silenced in the case of a false or nuisance alarm, e.g. cooking fumes. The Ei146E Optical Smoke Alarm is fitted with a mains power on™ green LED indicator and an alarm™ red LED indicator. Ei Electronics and Aico products have usually a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty during which they will be repaired or replaced free of charge if suffering from faults or defects caused by manufacturing issues. Aico’s telephone number is 01691 664100. They deal with warranty cases for the mains powered ranges. Smoke alarm starts to beep in the middle of the night
