About this deal

How difficult is it to apply and remove the wax ? I apply entire car and then remove, for my 845. Can we do at least one panel at a time with 915, in our Indian weather ? c)Any opinions on the usage of Proklear Waterless Wash Shampoo on a Car coated with Collinite 845? Will it be a good choice? Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is one of the finest heavy duty liquid wax's you can buy. Collinite 845 insulator wax was originally developed over 75 years ago to help protect electrical power companies against electrical issues, fires and explosions - If it stands up to these conditions, Imagine what protection it offers your paint... Why should I use it? To protect your car's paint with a durable carnauba/polymer blended wax while also creating and maintaining a high gloss finish. From the manufacturer A user-friendlier version of the No. 476s paste, No. 845 stands as Collinite's most legendary product to date. Famous for its versatility, durability and DIY ease of use, "IW" is ideal for both small and large surface area jobs where lasting protection and timely job completion are desired, but hard buffing and frequent reapplication are not practical. Leaves behind carnauba shine and durable polymer coating that preserves finish and shields against the elements; UV, rain, snow, salt, dust, dirt, grime, bugs, staining and more.. Review I've never used this wax before. In the year 2021, when I tell people this and they know how long I've been detailing cars, they are surprised because this product has a loyal and strong following. And the reason it has a loyal and strong following is real simple, it's a really nice wax. I say this from the application, wipe-off and end-results point-of-view. This car I applied it to has left the building and went home with the owner so I can't talk about longevity and protection. Much like we’ve discussed the importance of adding a layer of protection to the bodywork of the car, it’s also important to protect the wheels.

Hard waxes are used at a slower rate than liquid treatments. We took this into account when factoring in cost, although this played a relatively small role in the verdict. None of the prices here includes delivery costs. Verdict I've found that Pinnacle's Paintwork Cleansing Lotion is one of the best non-abrasive polishes available to deeply cleanse the paint and prep it for a wax or sealant. It's easy to apply by hand or machine, and wipes off with ease. With hand application I've found that a microfiber applicator works best for this product as it enables the polish to clean the paint best. This is because the microfiber applicator tends to have more "bite" per se, which enables the polish to cleanse the paint of any old wax or sealant that was previously applied. To achieve even greater results with the polish, I would highly recommend a dual action polisher along with a polishing pad. I’m very careful not to contaminate plastic and rubber trim with wax – so much that I often apply masking tape to the trim to help keep wax off. However, you always have an accident or two. I noticed the Collinite 845 did not make the trim chalky and cloudy where I screwed up and touched the plastic. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t recommend you carelessly spread it over everything. It’s not sun tan lotion. When do I use it? After first washing and drying paint in new condition or after first doing any claying and paint correction to older cars. Helpful Tip: Collinite's No. 845 Liquid Insulator wax goes on thin, thin, thin! It doesn't take a lot of product and the more you apply, the more difficult it is going to be to wipe off. The amount you see below was enough wax to completely cover the entire quarter panel on my car. If you're going to apply the wax by hand, I've found that a poly foam wax applicator works best. As a personal preference of mine, I avoid microfiber applicators when applying a pure wax or sealant. I leave microfiber applicators for abrasive or chemical polishes. For best results, I find that you need to apply this by hand on to clean (ideally corrected) paint. Layer the wax with 2 to 3 coats, leaving a couple of hours between each coat to allow it cure. Once again, keep it thin layers. Overapplying is one of the biggest mistakes when it comes to applying wax to your car.

You can see the product has separated out with what I'm guessing is the carrying agent settled to the top while the solids have settled below it.

FAQ

Autoglym Rapid Ceramic Spray is a great, efficient and easy to apply spray product. When applied to the alloys, I’ve been able to get 2 months out of the coating. What I really like about it is that it can be used in tandem with Autoglym Super Resin Polish. The SRP can fill in any light scratches on the wheel, and the RSC is able to seal this in, as well as making the wheel super hydrophobic. When applying this to the wheel, I like to use a microfibre applicator pad to spread it onto the wheel and them remove it using a microfibre cloth. Liquid Insulator Wax provides tough protection against adverse weather conditions. It makes a great “winter wax” when you want tough paint protection against road salt, snow and ice, without sacrificing shine. Collinite’s headquarters are in New York where harsh winters are the norm. They know a thing or two about durable paint protection. Collinite make their second contribution to this list with their 845 Insulator Wax voted as my best liquid wax. This is a product that I’ve been using for several years now and could easily be one of the contenders for the best value for money. It gives a deep, glossy finish to the paint and this is why it’s a game-changer for me. The looks are pretty much unrivalled and the closest link that I’ve tested is the Swissvax Best of Show, which is about 10x the price. One of the most impressive features of Collinite 845 is its longevity. You can easily get 3 to 4 months of use out of one application, with around 7 to 8 washes in that period.

Now that you're familiar with Collinite's No. 845 Liquid Insulator Wax, let's dive into the basic products necessary to ensure you get the best performance and durability out of the wax. My first experience with Collinite 845 would be layering it over an already cured layer of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0. The plan was to layer it on following the instructions on the bottle and after removing the residue, let it cure for 12 hours before layering again. Yes, it was an ambitious detailing project. With respect to all of the coatings on this list, C5 is the longest lasting. With an average advertised shelf life of 2 years, it stands head and shoulders above the other options listed here. No car wax test would be complete without taking into account the final looks. It’s no different with this Collinite 845 review. Having said that, keep in mind I’m applying the wax on perfectly plain white paint – no mica, flakes or pearl white. It’s kind of hard to get good depth with white like you can with darker, deeper colors. Nonetheless, Collinite Insulator Wax 845 did help achieve more luster and shimmer than the Wolfgang paint sealer alone could. Polymer sealers are notorious for protection and durability but usually don’t look as good as carnauba wax. Collinite’s carnuaba definitely added depth. This wax however is not a strict show car type carnauba where the ultimate goal is looks. Collinite 845 is aimed to strike a balance between good looks and protection. Now I want to try Collinite 915 for the alleged shine it gives. However, it being priced at ₹4000 in India has kept me on the fence. Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax was originally developed for power companies to protect against high voltage power failure, electrical fires, and explosions. If it stands up to these conditions, imagine how well it will protect your vehicle’s paint. The 476s is the most durable product offered by Collinite, which is why it requires a little more rubbing and elbow grease.
