About this deal

Leave to dry thoroughly for at least a week before continuing, you want any sand in the joints to be dry before you continue. However, with that said, I know plenty of people that have used this to great effect on sandstone with just a couple of coats but it should be made very very clear, you will lose a bit of the lovely vibrant colour you have.

Water-based sealers are mixed with a resin. This resin might be acrylic or polyurethane. Because they are water based, these sealers do not have as strong a smell as solvent-based sealers, making them more pleasant to use. Generally, the number of sealer coats you apply, the different type of look you’ll receive, but this will differ depending on the product.

It can be used in bathrooms and kitchens with stone or slate floors, as well as on concrete, slate, patios and other porous surfaces. The finished effect looks as though the stone is damp, which brings out richer tones and colours. Compared to some other makes, it’s markedly less expensive, especially considering that you still receive a reasonable amount in the bottle. However, we’d recommend water paving sealant last out of the three main sealant types. That’s because you do not get the same adhesion quality (as it’s not solvent-based). As a temporary measure, yes, water sealant will help fight against sand loss. However, you’ll generally need to reapply sealer every year. Essential limestone sealer satin finish – Best suited to internal and external limestone surfaces. Also effective on sandstone and slate.

During application, the acrylic-based sealer shouldn’t be allowed to pool, as this can lead to white spots and marks remaining visible once it dries. If spraying on an uneven surface, it can be more difficult to ensure no puddles form, and a brush may be required as well as a sprayer. The product provides you with a matt finish and can last up to 5 years, and it’s easy to apply but like all great patio sealing, much relies on preparation. You’ll need to follow the exact same steps noted in the SmartSeal review. Personally, for the cost, I prefer SmartSeal. This isn’t to say this isn’t a great product. Not at all, I feel this is exactly and every bit as good as SmartSeal but costs significantly more. Solvent-based sealers are the best choice if you want a really tough gloss finish . They keep their shine for an extended period, which is excellent if your priority is longevity. PatioSeal creates a layer over the stones that makes them easier to clean, and it can help repel dirt, water, and oil. If you like to have BBQs on your patio during summer, but hate the messy grease stains that they leave behind, the surface should get much fewer stains after applying this sealer.

Let’s assume you’ve got lovely Indian Sandstone and the colours are vibrant and beautiful – and you don’t want to lay on a sealer that gives a glossy effect – in a sense I agree – it can detract from the look considerably. The best options is Smartseal Natural Stone Sealer – the dry finish version. May not create as long lasting a seal as solvent-based sealers and reapplication may be required more frequently
