About this deal

Procion MX dye powders and the Tulip one-step kits are formulated to work with natural fibers, such as cotton, rayon, and silk. Synthetic materials such as polyester, nylon, Spandex, etc., do not absorb these dyes very well. For this technique, you don’t have to fold the fabric – though I think it would look really awesome with some thin accordion folds! To make an ombre dip dye design: Add Salt or Vinegar ( If Dyeing Cotton, Linen, Silk, Wool, Nylon Rayon and Ramie). To enhance the color: (1) add 1 cup 240 mL of salt when dyeing fabrics containing cotton, rayon, ramie or linen; (2) add 1 cup 240 mL of vinegar when dyeing fabrics containing nylon, silk or wool. Bleach works best when it is diluted with hot water. However, keep in mind that the fabric may also react with the water temperature (cotton can shrink when washed with hot water, for example), so you will need to consider this before making your bleach mixture. Working With Bleach

It’s important to set the tie dye for several hours to get the brightest colors possible. After dying, wrap your garment in plastic (or place it in a zip-top bag) and let it sit for at least 6-8 hours. This processing time helps the dye soak into the fibers of the fabric. If you have more time, you can let the dye sit overnight or up to 24 hours. Wrap several rubber bands around the disk. The tighter you scrunch it, the more white areas there will be in the final shirt. Unfortunately for newbies, sometimes the results end up being more drab than fab. And most of these unpleasant tie-dye outcomes have everything to do with pairing colors that don’t blend well. If you are feeling confident enough to tie-dye two or more unrelated colors. then go for it! That said, not all colors work in harmony.

Another surefire multicolor tie-dye option is adjacent colors in the color wheel. They are particularly great for theme colors. You can decide to go warm with bright hot summer colors, or a cool calm ocean theme. Instead of dying the whole fabric, you can dip each knot in a different color dye. You can tie the cloth with small objects inside like small buttons, beads, shells, small stones etc. Scrunching

Another way to tie-dye without multiple colors is to use various tints or shades of one primary color. Tie-dye colors built from the same primary color always look good together. You can even dye cotton canvas sneakers. Remove the laces and liners before you start, and soak them upside down in warm water and a little bit of Synthrapol to “prewash” them. Secure the shirt with 3 or 4 rubber bands, crisscrossing them over the center of the disc. The tighter you bind the shirt, the more white areas there will be. When you dye this fabric you get beautiful overall patterns, because the area of the fabric under the binding cord and against the core object would not be dyed. As a result, beautiful patterns are formed on the fabric surface . Sometimes, if your T-shirt is too dark, the color after bleaching can be a brownish-orange color. If you are not happy with the tie-dye colors after bleaching, then you can do an extra step of applying colored dye in your desired color combination. You can adjust the intensity of the colors by changing the dye-to-water ratio. If you want more pastel colors, you can add more water to the dye mixture.
