About this deal

A wisp of smoke wafts from the other side of Yoda’s hut as the ancient Jedi master cooks a pot of rootleaf stew. The LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection takes this design aesthetic to the next level, featuring a crisp box that defines the edges, complete with a plaque on the front and what appear to be vents on the sides — almost as if this is an electronic device like a holo-projector. You spend the remainder of the build process filling in landscape and structural details within this box. Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama represents new ground for LEGO Star Wars as a theme, both in comparison with what it has been able to offer before and in terms of what it now could be capable of moving forward.

Dark tan plates and tiles surround the hut, separating it from the swamp. Again, space is fairly limited, although there is ample room for the minifigures. You can even attach Luke Skywalker upside down, using a trans-clear 1x1 round plate with bar and matching accessory holder. The same interesting technique appeared in 75208 Yoda's Hut, four years ago. Luke Skywalker's training on Dagobah is probably my favourite sequence from throughout the Star Wars saga and 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training presents the scene beautifully. The swampy environment looks marvellous and features exceptional detail, while Yoda's hut achieves superb accuracy when compared with the source material, as anticipated. Each model in the series is built on a frame that is 20 LEGO studs in depth (about 6.3 in or 16 cm). The frame serves as a foundation for the display. The sets are sized for display on a bookshelf.

Step-by-step guide – Are you a newcomer to LEGO® building sets? No problem. There are illustrated instructions in the box to help you build with the confidence of Jedi Master Yoda Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama brings a new level of authenticity to mid-range LEGO Star Wars sets in a way that is entirely new – what can come from such a creative direction is exciting to consider. The space inside is extremely cramped, barely accommodating two minifigures. Nevertheless, some details from the movies are present, including a cooking pot and Yoda's simple bed. The stove is perfectly positioned beside the chimney and features a few trans-red and trans-orange tiles, hidden behind the pot. Yoda's lightsaber, meanwhile, is stored in the rafters. Or, you could do what Ole intended all those years ago … and build your own version. Much more fun!"

Luke Skywalker's X-wing starfighter famously crashes into the Dagobah swamp, leaving only wing tips visible above the surface. The S-foil is therefore included, featuring Luke's Red Five markings on a printed 1x3 tile. The laser cannon looks good too, although the vehicle crashes with its wings together, hence another laser cannon should be mounted underneath. As we noted earlier, the third bag of parts consists entirely of trans-green 1×1 pieces (both tiles and plates), which cover the variously colored layer below to convey differences in the swamp’s depth. I’m not much of a mosaic builder, but I learned that placing about 200 1×1 pieces without paying attention to my form can result in some mild repetitive stress pain — I can’t imagine what CJ and our #MosaicsOnMonday builders must feel! Anyway, once you’ve finished laying down lots of landscaping detail, you’ll finally start building Yoda’s hut and the mangrove-like trees it sits under.

Build your collection – This set is part of a series of collectible LEGO® Star Wars™ build-to-display diorama models, each depicting a beloved Star Wars scene During the build, I felt like I was attaching a lot of random arches and curved slopes to build up Yoda’s hut and the trees. However, upon completion, they fit together rather beautifully.

It’s important to consider the creative direction that 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama represents – this is LEGO building for an older audience not interested in play, looking for detail, depth and authenticity to their LEGO creations so as to place them proudly on display, to gather only the type of dust a more sophisticated, older LEGO fan can generate. Dagobah seems to be inhabited by a rather limited number of sentient creatures. Thankfully, this LEGO set includes the maximum population of such beings — Yoda himself, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2. This version of Luke features a new torso and leg printing, while Yoda is indistinguishable to my eye from previous versions. LEGO Star Wars Diorama Sets are a series of LEGO sets recreating unforgettable scenes in the Star Wars franchise. Each set captures the details, suspense and nostalgia of beloved moments in Star Wars history. LEGO launches the new product line in late April 2022. Here’s everything you need to know about the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection. While the three designs for these characters are as expected and add that LEGO charm to the scene they sit within, would a display-based LEGO Star Wars set with a completely different design ethos not be the perfect opportunity to introduce a more accurately-sized Yoda and R2-D2? Yoda’s hut has been designed so authentically that Yoda the minifigure – who still stands way too tall next to a regular minifigure – cannot fit through the front door…

LEGO recommends the series for builders ages 18+ for a couple of reasons. One reason is due to complexity of the build. Another reason is due to LEGO’s anticipation of who will be most interested in the set. Experienced builders under 18 may still enjoy constructing the dioramas. The trench run set runs afoul of the "amount of stuff you get" test IMO because part count isn't the only factor that should be used to judge price. There are no minifigures to bolster the asking price and there are a lot of small pieces with, what, just the turret being posable? That set is also physically quite small. With awareness that this is a different idea for LEGO Star Wars, you can begin to appreciate the different ways that this LEGO set has been created, and understand that this is the only way this sort of detail for such a scene could otherwise be offered in an official LEGO Star Wars release. With acceptance of 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama’s differences, its strengths really begin to show themselves. Yoda's hut has been represented twice before at minifigure-scale. However, those two designs focused upon play value, whereas this rendition prioritises accuracy. The resultant structure is exceptionally detailed and its rounded shape looks outstanding, recreating the hardened mud construction associated with Yoda's home.
