About this deal

Renamed the categories to reflect how people are looking for 5k monitors, with the Apple Studio Display being renamed to 'Best 5k Monitor' and the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 to 'Best 5k Super Ultrawide Monitor'. Instead, you're probably going to have to resort to third party software such as MaxTo or GridMove to really maximise the amount of space you have at speed. Otherwise, you're probably going to resign yourself to doing a lot more dragging and maximising by hand to get everything just the way you want it. Renamed the LG 40WP95C-W as 'Best 5k Monitor' and the Apple Studio Display as 'Best 5k Monitor For Mac' to better align with how people are looking for 5k monitors; updated text for clarity throughout.

I use the KVM to control the middle and right monitor and the left monitor is connected to both computers and I toggle that one manually when needed. Sounds like the common ground here is that the full 5120x1440 resolution is hard or impossible to drive at full details, but with lower quality, a decent fps might be achieveable. If not, I can lower the resolution and gain a significant boost. If you find that the screen on the LG 40WP95C-W isn't wide enough for you, there's a class of 5k monitors with a 5120x1440 resolution known as super ultrawide. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9/G95NA S49AG95 has a massive 49-inch monitor and 32:9 aspect ratio, equivalent to placing two 27-inch, 1440p monitors side-by-side. It also has an aggressively curved screen that makes it easier to see the entire screen, as the curvature brings the edges closer to you. Restructured the article to reflect current market prices and availability; added the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 as the 'Best Ultrawide Monitor' and renamed the LG 38WN95C-W as the 'Best Upper Mid-Range Monitor'; removed the LG 34GP83A-B because it's hard to find, and removed the AOC CU34G2X because it went up in price; renamed the Gigabyte M34WQ as the 'Best Budget Monitor' and added the Dell S3422DWG. I can use PowerTools FancyZone to control/manage windows including a 3 column layout which mimics having 3 external monitors. The used market doesnt really provide any good 1080ti offers - but even when a new 3000 series is announced, we probably won't see the cards for a forseeable time - and is it expected that they will be cheaper or in line with current 2080 ti cards, while offering an improved performance? I could wait, but you can always wait another 6 or 9 months and get something even better I imagine we will switch to Battlefield 5 once our PCs can handle it, so that and future titles like it will be the goal to handle. Also GTA5/Far Cry5 and my son would love to play Fortnite as well.

I was also surpiced that the monitor stand is actually quite "deep". Pushed all the way up against the wall, you still have around 28 cm / 11 inches from the wall to the front of the monitor. It's a standard vesa mount, as far I can see, so you can just buy a different monitor arm if you need to get it closer to the wall / away from you. It has other features most monitors don't have, like a built-in webcam and microphone, which are great for video calls. It's available in different variants, as you can choose which stand or screen finish you want. There's one variant with a stand that only offers tilt adjustment, but you can get another variant with a height-adjustable stand. Additionally, you can get it without a stand altogether if you prefer mounting it. As for the screen finish, you can choose between glossy or matte screen coatings, and both have fantastic reflection handling. While there are some ultrawide monitors in the mid-range price category, like the LG 34GP83A-B, most of them don't offer any performance advantages over the models you can get in the lower mid-range price category, like the Dell S3422DWG, which is very good overall and performs well for different uses. It has a 34-inch screen, so it offers less space than the LG 40WP95C-W, but it's still big enough to open windows side-by-side, and it has an 1800R curve that helps bring the edges of the screen closer to you. I got tired of having two 27" monitors for work, so I treated myself a Samsung C49RG90 (49", 5120 x 1440, 120Hz AMD FreeSync 2) which is very nice - but I have now realized that finding a GPU that will be able to handle it might be a problem with an expensive solution I must admit, I've been a bit cool on HDR monitors recently, mostly because they're usually an absolute pain in the ass to get working correctly. The CRG9, on the other hand, is probably the first monitor I've tested in ages that's just sort of... worked. And it's a revelation! Assassin's Creed Odyssey looked beautiful in HDR, with white hot sun rises piercing my vision with their 1000cd/m2 brightness levels and its autumnal setting bursting with life thanks to the monitor's superb colour accuracy and rich colour palette. Final Fantasy XV impressed as well, with its blisteringly bright and vibrant Lestalum nightlife coming to full and fantastic life onscreen, all without having to tweak a single setting. If you lower the settings far enough, virtually any card will suffice. How far you want to lower the settings will determine what card you can run. You won't run at Ultra unless you get a 2080Ti, and even then, you're unlikely to hit 120hz. However, lowering settings will net significant gains, as even dropping from Ultra to High can gain you 10% - 20%. Renamed the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 to 'Best 5k Monitor' to be reflective of how people are searching for monitors, and renamed the LG 40WP95C-W to 'Best 5k Monitor For Work'.
