About this deal

The Nectar Sleep (as it’s sometimes called) mattress is the only memory foam mattress I’ve ever come across that comes with a 365-night trial. When you consider most mattresses only become truly “broken in” after the first couple of months or so, and possibly longer, that extra time is extremely valuable for finding out how your mattress will feel in the long term. My first impression was that the outside material is not of an acceptable quality especially the brown peripheral material which looks like it has been produced from recycled material, a fact that I communicated to the supplier who took notice and promptly responded to my comment. In fact I found, through correspondence exchange, the supplier to be caring to a customer's concerns and, rarely for our days, exceptionally helpful. Memory foam is a polyurethane-based material that is renowned for its ability to distribute pressure and essentially it will re-form as pressure is moved across its surface. Used as part of a mattress, it offers an excellent level of support, without the billowing and bouncing which can be all too common in inferior mattresses. Air vents and synthetic materials make it difficult for germs and bugs to thrive, maximising the chances of a hygienic sleep experience. the mattress does not have very strong edge support, having said that I have never tried the expensive mattresses version of edge support Another common complaint with regular memory foam mattress is the heat build up. This means, quite simply, that you get too hot in bed – particularly in summer.

Larger individuals may benefit from the additional support offered by a firmer mattress, while those with a smaller frame may be more comfortable on something a bit softer. You should also bear in mind that the same mattress can feel different depending on the type of base you use, which we explain in more detail below. Do all mattresses need flipping or turning? The all-foam construction also allows the 5G to excel at movement isolation, effectively dampening the vibrations produced by a restless partner, making it ideal for light sleepers. Like many memory foam mattresses, it can sleep a little warm, but we found it compared favourably against the competition, never leading to uncomfortable overheating. The type of base you choose to pair your mattress with can have a significant impact on its overall feel. A yielding foundation such as a sprung slatted bedstead is likely to result in your mattresses feeling slightly softer than it would on a solid platform such as a divan, for instance.

For instance, some mattresses, all-foam ones in particular, might feel warmer than others, which makes them a less suitable option for those who are prone to overheating at night. As well as being highly practical – it has both a removable top cover and carry handles – we found the Emma Original exceedingly comfortable to sleep on. Indeed, despite feeling relatively soft, it offers superb levels of support throughout the night and is better suited to side sleepers than some of its firmer bed-in-a-box rivals such as Eve. Three-layer (bottom layer 195mm dense support foam; middle layer 20mm memory foam; top layer 25mm open-cell foam) While hybrid mattresses can be a great choice for many people, there are certain situations where they may not be the best option, soere are some examples of when you may find hybrid mattresses unsuitable: Now it must be good quality because it’s made in the UK, or so the saying goes. Actually: a lot of mattresses are made in the UK (surprisingly) and not all of them are that good.

On balance I think that the bigger brands are edging ahead, and I really like the Nectar offering, even though it’s a memory foam. It strikes the right mix of features, comfort and price – though use a discount code if you can find one.At the risk of stating the obvious, we test our mattresses by sleeping on them. However, as we do so, there are a number of factors we aim to take into account. In addition to comfort and support, two important factors are firmness and temperature control (though we may also take factors such as edge support and motion isolation into account). Whether you opt for foam, springs or a combination of the two, the best mattresses deliver ample support and cushioning, so your choice will ultimately come down to personal preference. What is a bed-in-a-box mattress? Buy with Confidence - Umi strict tests are conducted before its products hit shelves. The foam used in this double mattress is certified by CertiPUR-US, saving you concerns about material safety and promising you a worry-free sleep. They tend to be a bit more expensive, compared with regular memory foam mattresses, but often they are worth the premium. Best mattresses: Extended buyer’s guide What other key questions do I need to ask? What is it made from?

Three-layer (bottom layer 90mm dense high resilience foam; middle layer 50mm memory foam; top layer 90mm visco-elastic foam) Cool Sleep - Multi-layered breathable foam can accelerate air circulation and let go of the sweat and moisture, keeping your body dry and comfortable when you are sleeping. The hollow design of the springs allows the mattress to breathe freely, providing you with a dry and restful sleep. This Umi mattress is exactly as described - medium firm and very very comfortable. Took a couple of sleeps to get used to as it is firmer than my previous memory foam mattress but now I am sleeping like a baby. Okay, so this isn’t a Hybrid but I just wanted to mention it, in case you’re not 100% deadset on buying a hybrid…Some manufacturers may also specify the type of base required. Many recommend that when using a slatted base, those slats are no more than 75mm apart, for example. Does it have a strong chemical smell?
