The Hula Hoop Twister is an awesome game to get people moving and having fun together. You can play with as many people as you want at the same time, which makes it perfect for parties or family gatherings. Setup
The game ideas ranged from small kids' games to word games for adults. Foley had an idea for utilizing people as game pieces as part of the game idea, "a party game". Rabens had the idea to utilize a colored mat, allowing people to interact with each other, in a game idea he had developed while a student in design school. Foley saw the idea and developed the concept for having the colored dots line up in rows, and, with a spinner, created the idea for calling out players' hands and feet to the colored dots called out from the spinner. This would create a tangled-up situation between two people, and the one that falls first would lose. Any player who falls or takes part of his body out of the circle without permission or touches the mat with his knee or elbow will be disqualified immediately. In a four-player game, if one person falls or hits the mat with his knee or elbow, that team will be eliminated, and the other team will win. The rules are simple. Each person has to stand in a circle holding hands with other players around them. Then, one person spins their hula hoop around their waist while everyone else keeps their arms up and moves around the circle without stepping on each other's feet. We’ve had our Elf on the Shelf for a few years now and love to think up fun activities for them to do. One day my daughter was playing Twister, the game where you have a plastic mat with different coloured red, yellow, blue and green circles, where a spinner dictates where you put a hand or foot. It’s a fun game which is great for keeping the kids occupied. It totally inspired our Elf activities that evening! You can play the game with a partner. Then, use a special die with numbers or dots on it, instead of regular ones (like this one). The number or colour that lands face up determines which body part you have to put down next, the higher the number, the more difficult it will be to balance on that space. An example is the “right-handed red hand”, where all players place their right hand in the red circle closest to them. Each team plays every other team in the league. Keep score of victories and defeats to see which team will triumph! The only thing you need for this game is an open area where everyone can stand on one foot while holding a spoon between their toes (see photo). The spoons should be placed in front of each person so that they're easily reachable when needed. This reduces the number of laps they can easily enter, causing them to continue stretching and possibly lose overtaking in front of their opponents.
