About this deal

A gripping, twisty psychological thriller about the destructiveness of toxic masculinity hell-bent on protecting its own. I couldn't put it down." - Miranda Beverly-Whittemore Menace and mendacity vie with the mundane in this skillfully told tale about ambition and grief and envy. A wealthy, smarmy nephew; an aging midlist writer charged with his care; two daughters; the long Vermont winter - what could go wrong? A Flaw in the Design is an impressive debut. Cue the sequel." - Alice McDermott A flawlessly plotted murder mystery. Devilishly brilliant. I loved it!’ Sarah Bonner, author of Her Perfect Twin But she is tenacious and finally gets to the bottom of everything and there is a nice twist in the final chapter. Next we have the plant-based meat of this story: the revenge murders. Again, love the concept. And obviously for a story like this, yeeting of disbelief is required. But the murders were TOO laughably solvable. Homegirl was using Tinder to set up these men and you're telling me police didn't cotton on to that? Ok. At least try to do some basic forensic countermeasures like use a burner phone. Even Finlay Donovan was tighter than this.

The side characters. Each and every one of them felt like a caricature or a parody. None of them were properly fledged out. I also disliked how a lot of them were introduced with their name and then their follower count. Yes, I get that the author was probably trying to empathize Kitty's priorities there, but I still found it dumb. Talk about you can't judge a book by its cover, I love the cover but I came in thinking this might be just a silly read like Finlay Donovan is killing it. However it is not but I do love that it isn't. It stands independently on its own. This suspenseful debut novel keeps the reader on tenterhooks in a fearful family drama. Oh, this demands a sequel!" - Christine Schutt Kitty is an influencer turned serial killer ‘a la Dexter’ and I love her! She’s such a bad ass, with a dark dark sense of humor, a lot of sarcasm in her and a little sweet edge. She’s also very psycho.. There are just so many good things I could say about this book. I absolutely tore (pun intended) through this read. Everyone needs to go read it.’ NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I discovered Katy Brent earlier in the year, but hadn't actually read her first book until recently. Her titles just scream with appeal to my twisted sense of humour, and it sounded like How to Kill Men and Get Away With It would be my perfect cup of tea. I was right! I was hoping for something along the lines of How to Kill Your Family or My Sister the Serial Killer - this was so much better! That twist at the end- talk about throwing in a grenade!! Brent knows how to leave her readers reeling in style! What happens when a (possibly murderous) sociopath takes a writing workshop? This is the premise of Nathan Oates's delicious, inexorable, fast-paced tale of obsession - a thriller that will keep you reading till the end." - Karan Mahajan

some of the ways she transported the victims to their final destinations was a bit far fetched. Does she hit the gym behind the scenes? I'm mainly referring to Joel, unless I misinterpreted how she did it. Funny, touching, horrifying and surprising almost in equal measure with a brilliantly believable heroine… loved this book' Catherine Cooper, author of The Chalet Kitty is on a mission. On a mission to avenge all the wronged women. Wronged by superficial, non committing sexist men. Or something like that. She did not mean too, she literally stumbled into killing. The brand name dropping. Does the author get commission for that? Annoying. I get it that she is rich but I don’t care for your gazillion of brand names and amount of followers. UGHHHHH!!!! I REALLY wanted to love this one, or at least slap a Honda Civic Reliable rating on there and call it a day. Women nurdering r@pists? Yes please. And doing so with tongue in cheek humor? Double yes please. Plus, cmon, that title is everything! This was shaping up to be a dark Finlay Donovan-esque book, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be for me 😢 The reason I finished this is because I was hoping and praying it was sort itself out for at least a three star but.... nah.

This is exclusive content.

What a ride! Unflinchingly realistic and raw but somehow also brilliantly funny at times, Brent's novel is a must-read' Jesse Sutanto, author of Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers
