About this deal

I will call out that the way they handled having the doors for the missile pods a separate piece rules, it means that the missiles themselves are perfectly formed and there aren’t any little fiddly door bits to deal with. *Chief Kiss* You are limited a little with them as they give you exactly three open doors and two closed doors, but you at least get to chose which model to give them to for a bit of variety. Wings: I think the challenge is a lot more pronounced in the three missions that only have four/five objectives. Bearing in mind the scoring cap, as long as player two can secure themselves 10pts in their first command phase then primary scoring is still very much live, but on the four objective missions you’ll often need to commit one of your melee units just to secure that. Ben: I love Stormboyz , so I took plenty of them. A Deff Dread meant I could take on the Brutalis directly – at least, in theory… and no self-respecting Warboss would leave home without a horde of Boyz , so I took a bunch! As has been previously discussed and revealed online, Strike Force missions in 9th have been designed around a smaller battlefield/table size than 8th edition – 60″ x 44″ instead of 72″ x 48″– this is the recommended minimum size. While you can still play on a larger table as you like, missions and gameplay in 9th edition have been balanced around this new, smaller table size and the word from tournaments is that major orgs plan to move to smaller tables, so we think it’s likely that these new sizes will become the standard. Deployment and First turn Iron Hands love their vehicles, and this boxed set can serve as a viable Patrol for anyone who wants to start or expand their force in that direction. Redemptor Dreadnoughts are one of the best options available for Space Marine players, with a pair of Dreadnoughts supported by 10 Intercessors and 2 Techmarines. Iron Father Feirros could easily be converted into a generic Master of the Forge while the Iron Hands upgrade sprue has plenty of bits that make this box set viable for any Chapter. Ravenstrike Battle Force

This shifts up some of the assumptions about how you play tournament games quite a bit. Especially in ITC missions, if you were confident in mostly bodying your opponent off the board over turns two and three, you could afford to tread water a bit early on and rely on sweeping to maxing your secondaries and a succession of high-scoring primary turns later to buffer you to a comfortable win. As an example of how tough secondaries now are, Engage on All Fronts, 9th’s equivalent of the Recon secondary from other formats, will only give you 15 VP if you end the turn with a unit wholly within each of the table’s quarters on all five turns. That definitely can be done, but there’s zero room for error – and I’d honestly flag that as one of the easiest here to score maximum points on. The only “easy” secondaries are the ones built around killing certain targets, which makes armies that allow an opponent to max this out at least something of a risky prospect. As for building them by the instructions, they went together as well as you could have expected from a modern GW kit. There aren’t many gotchas to watch out for, the most noteworthy risk is that the sensor on the shoulder pad doesn’t really index, so they might slide out of place while drying. Ben: You would say that in your power armour! My Orks had to leg it through the jungles of Kolomar to get to grips with the Ultramarines, and there was a lot of firepower coming their way! Loremasters meanwhile investigates the most degenerate of the Traitor Legions – the Emperor’s Children. As we said, we’ve seen a lot of rumors about them, so we’ll look at the rumors and compare them. These confirmed rules come from this Warhammer Community post .

Contents: Iron Father Feirros, Primaris Techmarine, 2 Redemptor Dreadnoughts, 10 Intercessors, 2 (?) Iron Hands Upgrade Sprues The Adeptus Astartes under the leadership of the Primarch Roboute Guilliman are striking out across the galaxy in the Indomitus Crusade. While Abaddon launches his assault with his Arks of Omen, and various xenos races look to destroy the fragile Imperium, the Space Marines hold firm against the terrors of the galaxy! Today, in Strike Force Agastus, we get some new reinforcements to the mighty Adeptus Astartes to expand out the options available to them. In this review and unboxing we’ll be taking a look at all of the kits and seeing how they perform in game too! Add chassis-mounted heavy bolters into the mix and you can build a Brutalis Dreadnought with respectable amounts of anti-infantry firepower. If turning vehicles to mush is more your groove, a pair of multi-meltas strapped to the front will cook whatever you don’t crush. TheChirurgeon: Maximizing your primary objectives is a lot easier if you have the first turn, I’ll say that. Even then, top-of-turn scoring encourages players to think a turn ahead than they normally might, since just reacting to an opponent’s actions isn’t good enough – you may prevent them from holding an objective and scoring, but they’ll likewise have an opportunity to respond before you can score yourself. Finally here, let’s talk about durably contesting objectives. Almost all objective-based scoring in 9th requires you to survive on one for an entire turn cycle, meaning that just pushing Infantry Squad #3 onto an exposed position is going to at best deny your opponent points, not score them for you. For that you want durable objective holders – troops in tough transports who can bail out and keep holding the position when it dies, Characters that can shelter next to tougher stuff, and units that can just tank like champions – all of these are extremely valuable in 9th, and you definitley want some of them, especially if you’re lower on fast melee threats. What I’m Going to Do About ItWhile they don’t give the profile, we expect the fist to be somewhat similar to a normal dread fist. Then, you can basically put guns everywhere on this mini. It can have chassis guns, fist guns, and a pintle-mounted gun, so basically, just guns everywhere! Brutalis Dreadnought Rumors In the 6th (Vital Intelligence), the number of objectives you need to hold for each of the first two objective criteria increases by one, i.e. you score 5 VP each for holding two objectives and holding three objectives. Secondary Objective Scoring The Lieutenant is one of the most versatile character kits to date, with a choice of cosmetic parts and plenty of wargear. He can tote a plasma pistol, heavy bolt pistol, or a bolt rifle with one of three configurations, all while swinging a power fist or a power sword… or just pointing very emphatically. Boarding Patrol: Chaos Space Marines If you’re stateside, tune in on Thursday the 26th of January at 10pm PST. In the UK, that’s 6am GMT on Friday the 27th of January. That’s early, but it’ll be worth it! If you’re at the event itself, doors for your preview open at 8:30pm. Congratulations, you get to see it all first! WarCom: It’s the first time that the Brutalis Dreadnought and Desolation Marines have been in battle – how did they fare?

Aircraft too cowardly to come into punching range? The twin-linked Icarus ironhail heavy stubber will teach them not to seek safety in the skies. You could probably figure out a way to magnetize the hull guns without too much difficulty, but given I run salamanders I can’t really see ever putting the heavy bolters on instead. It is worth mentioning that the talons and fists use different base plates for the hands, so you could magnetize those too if you are industrious. If these get any sort of point drop, all bets are off, because given changes above 30pts are usually in increments of 5 and Marine squad upgrades are mostly now free, the most likely change would be for a standard squad with the vengor to go from 185 to 150. At that point, you’re getting all that utility above, but priced to move, and you’d start seeing at least a unit of these in many Marine builds. Even just making the vengor free might honestly tip them over the line. Definitely one to add to your Marine toolbox, especially if you’re being bullied by Guard or elf players. Wrap Up Here’s the savings and value breakdown for the new Space Marines Strike Force Agastus box set that was revealed at LVO 2023.superkrak (with 3 open and 2 closed hatches), 5 superfrag (with 3 open and 2 closed hatches), and 1 Vengor launcher weapon attachments (with open and closed hatch) We sent out some copies of Strike Force Agastus to our friends in the Warhammer painting community. They responded with a cornucopia of Primaris Lieutenants, Dreadnoughts, and Space Marines. We got an overwhelming number of responses and couldn’t include them all – so a huge thank-you to everyone who contributed. Strike Force Agastus The Twin Icarus Ironhail Heavy Stubbers will get a ton of shots on the way in, and it would make sense for them to have the Heavy Bolters or Melta front mounted. Lastly, the melee weapons were pretty close to the confirmed rules, just a little bit buffed in the confirmed rules.

TheChirurgeon: The Raze objective is real interesting because of how it can reward Strategic Reserves arriving on turn 3, but it’s still a big risk to do something that can only be accomplished on turn 5, provided the units that arrive on turn 3 can move 10″ to get within range on turn 4. What’s more, the Desolation Sergeant can pair it with a vengor launcher for maximum indirect fire, wiping out whole squads before they ever come into view. And all while guiding the squad’s aim through his signum targeting system – now that’s multi-tasking! The Adeptus Astartes, commonly known as Space Marines, are the elite warriors of the Imperium of Man in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Among the various Space Marine Chapters, the Strike Force Agastus Eng stands out as a formidable force with a long history of battles and victories.

New Space Marine Primaris Lieutenant

Since we don’t know the exact retail prices yet for the separate releases, there is a little bit of guesswork here. The new models will also grab a booklet, but that should just be added value as if this comes out before the new Space Marines codex, you’ll actually need rules to use the models (sort of like they did with Shadowspear). Is the Strike Force Agastus Box Worth It? These are probably the most controversial models you’ll find in Strike Force Agastus. If you know the Intercessor or Hellblasters kit you know what to expect here. This kit has two identical copies of two medium size sprues that build five models each, and ten 32mm bases. Each set of sprues features: Finally, be a bit wary about running a list that gives up Assassinate, Bring it Down or Titan Slayers too easily – or if you’re going to, try and at least lean in to it. This isn’t hard and fast (and I’m going to immediately break it in the list I show off) but you need to be at least getting some sort of payoff from it, and if you can shuffle a list to just dodge it then it’s worth it. What I’m Going to Do About It This boxed set focuses on an elite strike force of Space Marines, including miniatures that are available here for the first time. Leading the charge is a Primaris Lieutenant, who can be customised with a choice of cosmetic parts and a variety of weapon options – his left hand grips a plasma pistol, heavy bolt pistol, or a bolt rifle with one of three configurations, while his right hand can wield a power fist or a power sword, or simply gesture to a tactical goal.
