About this deal

Soon, you will be able to take up the mantle of the Galactic Republic as the tactical fleet combat of Star Wars™: Armada enters a new era of the Star Wars saga. Fantasy Flight Games is happy to announce the first Galactic Republic expansions for Star Wars: Armada: But just because the Consular-class Cruiser wasn’t strictly built for battle doesn’t mean it can't be an effective warship. In fact, refitting the Consular-class Cruiser for combat missions has enabled it to take on wildly different capabilities and you can make use of two different versions of the ship in your fleets. The With the technological might of the Separatist Alliance at your disposal, nothing can stand between you and your conquest of the galaxy. Assemble your fleet and jump into the epic space battles of the Clone Wars! The updated Rules Reference also includes new major rules introduced with the Clone Wars expansions, bringing them fully into the game. Upgrade Cards and Token Icons Republic fleets are starved for two things: tokens and dice mitigation. These often go hand– in– hand. Build your fleet around support assets or a plan to generate the necessary tokens to get the consistency you need to stand toe-to-toe with other factions. If you don’t, you’ll be left wondering what’s wrong with your ships today.

At the game’s heart are its capital ships—massive war machines that can exceed a kilometer in length and whose crew can number in the thousands. These ships are sophisticated and complex. Their defenses, armaments, and engines all run from separate systems. You and your opponent must balance all these systems throughout your battles. Accordingly, emerging victorious will require more than just raw firepower. It requires a keen tactical mind. Meanwhile, four squadrons of brave clone troopers launch into battle in the V-19 Torrent, ready to defend the fleet from swarms of Separatist droid fighters. Ideal light escorts, two squadron cards give you the freedom field a generic squad of V-19s or use the skills of elite Blue Squadron pilot “Axe.” As powerful as it is, the Venator-class Star Destroyer is also commanded and crewed by some of the best the Republic has to offer, including two new commanders that set the tone for your entire fleet. A Jedi Master like In addition to these characters, you’ll also find a wide array of other ways to customize your Venator-class Star Destroyer among the 16 upgrade cards found in this expansion, including new weaponry and other offensive and defensive enhancements. We’ll take a look at everything in this expansion in a future preview! Read on for more information about adding the Separatist Alliance to your Star Wars: Armada collection! For an added punch, this version of the ship can also be equipped with ordnance, allowing it to slam an opponent with some As part of updating the line, we have moved to a consistent cards size for new products. We have reformatted where upgrade icons and points costs are displayed on ship cards. We have also introduced a new ship traits box on new ship cards. These traits are rules in themselves, but they can be referred to be other effects or as requirements for upgrade cards. Older ship cards remain legal for play.

Now that the Rebellion has amassed the power to sweep away the remnants of the Empire, some of its most well-known figures must step into new roles if they hope to usher in this new era. Although he’s best known for his exploits as a starfighter pilot, the legendary We’ll take a closer look at all of the ships in this expansion in a future preview! Fly for FreedomNow, you could also fit the Medical Frigate as a fighter carrier, but I advise against it. It’s a good groundwork for a carrier, but the Republic is replete with standout options. Nevoota Bee glued to an Acclamator I is the gold standard of fighter carriers. Sure, it costs a lot more, but it’s also a warship and Nevoota Bee’s unique ability is outstanding. It’s difficult for me to recommend a Pelta for commanding a fighter strike when the Nevoota Bee gives so much more value in the role. I believe that the Pelta-class Medical Frigate’s greatest strength is its ability to provide the Bomber Command Centre platform and second line carrier support. Featuring three highly-detailed, pre-painted capital ships, two commanders, and 12 starfighter squadrons between them, these expansions include everything you need to begin building your Galactic Republic fleet and play out the battles that will decide the fate of the Star Wars galaxy. Additionally, players will also find all the essential components needed for one player to learn the game, making this the perfect entry point for new players or veterans looking to experiment with new ships.

Republic ship recommendations: Venator-class Star Destroyer. It’s big, it’s magnificent. Follow up with a Pelta-class frigate (make sure to get the Republic version, or you just joined the Rebel Alliance!). You’ll find everything you need to add a Pelta-class frigate to your Republic fleets within this expansion, including a beautifully detailed, pre-painted miniature and two ship cards that invite you to fly it as a transport or as a medical frigate. Although it may be small, the Pelta-class frigate can still carry some of the Republic’s best tactical minds, includingA number of key changes have been made to long-standing rules. This section covers the most important. Pass Tokens I love the Republic (and its democracy). Episode II was my first Star Wars movie, and the sight of clone legions marching onto Acclamators was forever burned into my mind. Their fleet in Armada plays exactly as you’d want it to: a disciplined, high-tech army supported by the finest Jedi minds of its era. I typically don’t recommend Clone Wars factions to new players, since they have in-built downsides (no Ion Cannons, AI squadrons) and complex rules that throw new players off. I still haven’t figured out what Tikkes does. However, the faction is undeniably tasty in lore and models. To command Republic fleets to their potential, players must understand fleet-building with limited options, fly squadrons smartly, and learn positioning and token manipulation. Those who master it will experience an Admiral Thrawn-esque smugness of watching a complex plan come together before them. Those who don’t, go to Discord and complain about how weak the Consular is. Beyond the ship cards themselves, 14 upgrade cards invite you to make your Recusant-class Destroyer even more specialized with additional weapons, titles, and officers such as the Commerce Guild’s The Starhawk activates its Magnite Crystal Tractor Beam Array at the end of its activation, forcing the Imperial Raider to match its speed! Armada is a game of capital ship warfare. Fleets require at least one non-Flotilla ship, usually more. Start there. Follow that with a complement of squadrons to round out your budding fleet. Lastly, you’ll need to procure some basic gameplay tools. The good news is that there are starter offerings for both eras, depending on how you (and even a friend) would like to begin. These are the Star Wars: Armada Core Set, or the Fleet Starters. All of these boxes hit each of the categories we need to play Armada: ships, squadrons, and tools. Star Wars: Armada Core Set

Armada's errata and FAQ are no longer a separate document but are now sections within the RRG. As part of this process, some older rulings have been moved out of the FAQ section and into rules. The biggest of these new rules are the new upgrade card symbology representing cards that start play with command tokens or dials, and upgrade cards that require a cost to be readied. We have added these rules to provide more room in the game for new types of card effects with more concise text. They also allow for and for more options in the pacing of effects, such as a middle ground between discard cards and those that can be used every round. Some older cards that used long-form text for these types of effects (such as Grand Admiral Thrawn) have been revised in the new Upgrade Card Collection to use these icons instead. Reformatted Ship Cards Take your time and give it thought. No matter how things go, I hope to see you on the bridge – and remember to ready that Salvo token. Republic ships benefit from diverse token suites and generous access to Salvo. Without duplicate defence tokens, their ships are typically less durable than their counterparts, especially when you consider that Salvo only works if you’re being shot. They’re well-rounded ships, but are not bruisers and will need to leverage speed or defensive upgrades to stay alive. In all, the Pelta isn’t a ship that slots neatly into most Republic fleets. It’s not an ultra-niche ship, but the inclusion of a Pelta in your fleet must be thoughtful and intentional. It’s specialised. There are some things it can do that nothing else in your roster can, but it has a lot of shortcomings that keep it from working the frontline. Think before you deploy it, but deploy it in confidence. Considerations for Republic Players – “Your clones are very impressive, you must be very proud.” Balance and coordinationHello Armada fans! The wait is almost over and the Clone Wars arrive on Friday! As we've been discussing in articles and interviews throughout this year, we have updated our Rules Reference Guide to support these products and the future of the game. Fittingly, the Empire plays as a cold and implacable foe. Their ships are less manoeuvrable than many of their contemporaries, and are characterised by high hull values (HP), mediocre shields and a strong emphasis on frontal firepower. Their standard squadrons are cheap and numerous, but specialised and vulnerable. The Imperial roster is supported by a strong officer corps, lethal aces and a few standout specialist ships. Armada veterans will notice a number of significant changes as you read through the updated RRG. However, we encourage you to think of this as Armada version 1.5. It's still the same game, but with some added features to improve play and support a new era of expansions. This release article is meant to give you an overview of the changes and the thinking the design team has put into them. Revised Rules Armada balances the awesome scale of the Star Wars galaxy’s ships and space warfare with intuitive ship designs and accessible rules for issuing commands and resolving combat that make for rich, engaging, and highly tactical play experiences.
