About this deal

Sky Chasers is a great book about a family who had a dream to make the first flying machine but they come across a few bumps in the road, or – for a more accurate metaphor – the sky. Their enemy at the time, the English, had spies in France as the also wanted to be the first to send someone into the sky. Or so Magpie and the rest of France thought. This book is my favourite so far as there are some very interesting characters and parts of the story are true – which just made it more enjoyable. We’ve been looking for a cute platformer like this so we’re super happy we found this one! It’s really fun and very addictive!!

For this reason, I dislike the Montgolfier brothers even though they are meant to be liked and are the inventers of the balloon. The main characters are Magpie, an orphan; Pierre, a very posh boy; Monsieur Joseph, the one who made the hot air balloon.

The plot: There is a girl, Magpie, who is an orphan and works for Madame Delacroix. Madame Delacroix wants a box but it’s kept in a family’s house. She (Magpie) moves into the house and she tries to get the box, but she realises they are nice. She helps them build a hot air balloon so they will be the first to fly. In this story I found Pierre interesting because he is quite stubborn and what a boy was like in France 1783.

The Montgolfiers are busy inventing the world’s first hot air balloon, and Magpie swiftly decides that she wants to help them. But things are not so simple. Before she can fly, she must overcome several dangers and difficulties: English spies, the whims of Marie Antoinette, and of course, the menacing Madame Delacroix. Did you learn anything new about the past? I never knew who were the first people to design, construct, and fly a hot air balloon. At the end of the book the hot air balloon eventually got to go in the sky with Magpie and her friends and so that means her dream had come to a wonderful reality! I never knew anything about this period of time but now I know that 1783 was a big year for France in the history books and that a new way of travelling was made.Die Charaktere sind ausgesprochen bildlich und real beschrieben. Meine Tochter fühlte schnell mit Elas mit und schloss mit ihr Freundschaft. This game is excellent, Phenomenal! For one, the sprites and themes, The sprites and themes are very nostalgic of stuff like the sega genesis and SNES Second, the music The music adds a cutesy adventurous theme to the game. It is very pleasing to the ears and goes well with the music Third, the gameplay Smooth controls, almost no input lag, and the game it challenging enough not to be rage inducing but to add a fun challenge into this already great game. Overall, 5 stars, perfect game 20/10. Prepare to be swept up, up and away on this high-flying adventure from the queen of historical fiction, Emma Carroll!Winner of the Teach Primary Book Award 2018Shortlisted for the Young Quills Award 2019Nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Award 2019'Carroll, an unstoppable, natural storyteller, lets her imagination take off.' THE TIMES'Soaring flight and the power of friendship are to the fore in this gripping historical adventure.' THE GUARDIAN'Sky Chasers is a real joy: funny, energetic and, as ever, brilliantly told.' ABI ELPHINSTONE Orphan Magpie can't believe her eyes when she sees a boy swept off his feet by a kite ... or something that twists and dances in the wind. She goes to his rescue only to find herself dangling in the sky. The world looks so different from on high and suddenly Magpie knows what she wants - to be the first to fly in a balloon above the King and Queen of France ... Characters: I found orphan Magpie most interesting because she’s so sneaky. I didn’t like Madame Delacroix because she’s too expecting. Was the plot exciting, thought-provoking, serious, or light-hearted (or any combination of these?) It was exciting because Magpie was a thief but a friend to the boy she stole from. It was thought-provoking and exciting because I didn’t know when Madame Delacroix was going to strike next.

The characters: I thought Sebastian was interesting because he is rude, kind, and gets angry. I didn’t like Odette because she is arrogant and does everything urgently. This a game full of adventure and fun, but there are somethings that need to be added like more secrets more of the story and more game modes This would make the game go up to 10/10 right now its really good and stands out too right now it still is a 10/10. Sky Chasersis dedicated to "all those names that don’t make the history books",and testament to all the unsung heroes out there and is yet another fantastic offering from this superb children’s author. ~ Shelley Fallows - You can also find Shelley here. This engaging story is full of heart and adventure. Magpie is a pleasure to follow on her journey, as she goes from being an outcast to part of a loving family. The novel is based on history, and the role of the animals in the Montgolfier story is especially well handled, with all three animal aeronauts becoming vivid characters in the story. Reading this story may well encourage children to find out more about the historical events.

I now know who invented the hot air balloon – the Montpelier brothers. Read this book – not only is it fun to read, it gives you lots of facts about what happened in real life. It was both funny and thrilling. In addition, it was an amazing read. Was the plot exciting, thought-provoking, serious, light-hearted (or any combination of these?) I thought this book was quite sudden, serious, and light-hearted.
