About this deal

We’re confident you’ll love your new Shark cordless vacuum cleaner, offering a free 5-year guarantee (2 years for the battery).

There’s no on-body storage for these tools, although Shark does throw in an accessory bag for you to keep everything in. If you have the time to watch all of the demonstrations above, from a chap who’s clearly very knowledgable when it comes to vacuum cleaners, and in fact dedicated an entire week to his cleverly named “Shark Week” review of several Shark vacuum cleaners, you’ll see how impressed he is with the various features. There are some great Shark vacuums, but there are also plenty more fish in the sea – including cheaper options from alternative brands. The second was the wealth of new technologies that Shark boasted about with this vacuum when we got a first glimpse of it at IFA 2023. This vacuum has four detection technologies so that cleaning your home is more thorough than ever. When we were testing, we found dealing with high-traffic areas much easier thanks the the amped up suction and the FloorDetect technology makes transitioning into different rooms across your home much easier too. In the box, Shark has been very generous with accessories. You get a crevice tool, a multi surface brush (hard brush and upholstery tool), mini pet brush (great for carpets and sofas) and the anti-allergen brush, which you can use for dusting pretty much everything from blinds to furniture thanks to its articulated joint.

The screen is also used to show the current power mode (Eco, Standard or Boost) and, if you have the floor head attached, the floor mode (carpet or hard floor). I put the Shark IZ320UKT through my raw performance tests, measuring suction power in airwatts (AW), which uses a combination of airflow and suction. On Eco power, the vacuum runs at a basic 37.33AW, moving to 61.40AW on standard, which is about average for cordless cleaners. On Boost mode, the vacuum manages a huge 199.79AW; few cordless vacuum cleaners are this powerful, bar the Dyson V15 Detect, which manages an even higher 280.93AW. But if you have cats, dogs or other furry pets, the issue you’ll probably have is with embedded pet hair in carpets and furniture, this kind of hair can be very difficult to remove. This is where motorised pet tools come in, digging deep into the fibres to pull out embedded strands of pet fur.

Shark claims that it has all the power of a corded vacuum cleaner but in cordless form, and after testing we couldn't agree more. It's got DuoClean which makes switching modes immensely straightforward, and the controls make it easy to see how much battery you have left. To charge, simply lift out the battery on the side of the dust tank and pop it into its charging port. Like many of Shark's corded and cordless models, the IZ300UK is fitted with a flexible cleaning tube called Flexology. This means the vacuum conveniently slots underneath coffee tables and sofas, helping you clean those hard-to-reach areas. First they developed their Duo clean system, so that you could seamlessly clean hard floor and carpet without having to give it a second thought. You get two batteries in the box, plus a charger that can take both batteries, so you can keep them both topped up all of the time. If you prefer, you can just charge the battery in the vacuum’s body by plugging in the power cable at the rear.

Our tortoise (Houdini, named so because of how many times he’s escaped!) doesn’t give us any problems in this department, neither does Aristotle the Axlyotyl, he just grins at us from his tank, and even if he decided to take an excursion to do some “carpet surfing”, he’s as bald as a coot (and my father-in-law) so no worries there.I’ve reviewed the top-of-the-range model with dual batteries and the pet tool, but there are three other versions that have the same basic features: IZ320UK (dual batteries, no pet tool), IZ300UKT (single battery and pet tool) and the IZ300UK (single battery and no pet tool). Design and features As I said before, it delivers where it really counts, thanks to a powerful motor, large dust capacity and effortless movement around the house. Keeping the Shark emptied and clean is simple, too, with one button that releases the collection bin and filter unit from the device and a second button to open the trap door on the bottom to empty it. The filters can all be rinsed in running water and, since the vacuum also comes with Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap tech, you don’t need to worry about detangling regularly, either. This hasn’t transferred across to the pet tool, unfortunately, which gathered quite a bit of tangled hair during our testing. If, however, you have a larger home or you are more into doing a deep clean every time you hoover then you should go for the twin battery version and then basically you will never run out of charge and you can hoover way till your hearts content. Features and Benefits Our house has both carpet and hard floors and a staircase that harbours all manner of detritus ground in by outdoor shoes that one or both of my kids have forgotten to remove.
