About this deal

Moody, beautiful, and funny . . . Be transported to a gorgeous reimagining of Greek gods in a modern fantasy setting. Romance, drama, trauma, and goofs! You will not be able to put this down once you start! Babs Tarr, professional comic artist Again, this may be due to the fact that this has been miscategorized as something someone who enjoys regular comics would want to read. The shades of blue and pink are widely used throughout this comic to represent the worlds of Hades and Persephone (a.k.a Kore/Goddess of Spring). Then again, I assumed they (THEY?) just looked for something with a pastel cover and clapped their hands in joy. I don't personally get the hype, but I can see why this was successful as a webtoon. This full-color edition of Smythe's original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel.

the art in this is just my favorite ever. i rly don't think i'd love the webtoon as much if it weren't for the unique style and colors. there were panels that i'd straight up just buy as wall art Since coming to Olympus, Persephone has struggled to be the perfect maiden goddess. Her attraction to Hades has only complicated the intense burden of the gods' expectations. And after Apollo's assault, Persephone fears she can no longer bury the intense feelings of hurt and love that she's worked so hard to hide. The Lore Olympus books are a full-color graphic novel adaptation of the WEBTOON comic by the same name from creator Rachel Smythe. The artwork remains unaltered but has been reorganized into a graphic novel layout.Persephone, young goddess of spring, is new to Olympus. Her mother, Demeter, has raised her in the mortal realm, but after Persephone promises to train as a sacred virgin, she's allowed to live in the fast-moving, glamorous world of the gods. I started this last year but couldn't read more than 5 episodes and thanks to Lila (you're the best🥹🫶) whose review made me try this again and Lila guess what? I'm obsessed!!! Experience the propulsive love story of two Greek gods—Hades and Persephone—brought to life with lavish artwork and an irresistible contemporary voice. Witness what the gods do after dark in the second volume of a stylish and contemporary reimagining of one of the best-known stories in Greek mythology from creator Rachel Smythe. It's easy to see why the internet has fallen in love with Lore Olympus. This dazzling interpretation of the classic Greek myths is as charming as it is provocative.' Marissa Meyer, No1 New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles

The art is gorgeous and different from what I usually read in graphic novels so it just added more to my excitement. I loved the plot as it is the modern retelling of greek myths and the way the author draw the characters in this is just so unique, stylish and perfect. The story is about the myth of Persephone's abduction by Hades but in a modern world of friendships, lies and gossips and the wild parties where we get to see the different sides of greek gods.

In addition to the episodes previously published on WEBTOON, Volume One , Volume Two, and Volume Three each include one never-before-seen short story as a bonus chapter. The bonus chapter is in every edition of the book regardless of format. Yes, there is a rape scene towards the end, but this is after all based on Greek mythology, and this at least is handled with care - in the original stories rape happens regularly and it is accepted as totally normal (Zeus specifically seemingly doesn't know impregnation can also involve consent). This is a refreshingly modern and surprisingly poignant take on the Hades and Persephone myth. Not only does Rachel Smythe's talent as an illustrator shine in Lore Olympus but also her skill with weaving a steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional retelling." -Jennifer L. Armentrout, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash A refreshingly modern and surprisingly poignant take on the Hades and Persephone myth . . . steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional."-Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash sorry but minthe might be my fav character 🏃🏽‍♀️ i think she's a great example of how well-rounded the writing is. even tho she's an abusive, toxic, unlikeable character, she's not made to be one-dimensional. and episode 46 slapped i won't budge on that ☝🏽

Hi, I’m Sonia!

This edition of Rachel Smythe's original Eisner-winning webcomic Lore Olympus features exclusive behind-the-scenes content and brings the Greek pantheon into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel. This was kind of cute, I guess? I’m not sure what to say, to be honest. The plot is so painfully simple it’s barely even there, but there are definitely a few good scenes in here. Psyche: I liked her but I'm so scared for her and Eros's story and I know they got their happy ending but the way they got it was just 😭 and I'm not ready for it...

I do want to point out that the drawings for all the female characters are overly and unnecessarily sexualized, which truly annoyed me and even made me a little uncomfortable. Even though the subject matter is often heavy, this series still manages to be incredibly funny and adorable, Persephone is basically a conscious incarnation of a cinnamon roll. There’s dating, exchanging of texts, social parties, materialism, sexual tension. (Greek gods, duh) This full-color edition of Smythe's original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel.Psyche- "I love being here. It's like a dream....but I don't want to be a dream. I want to be real." Chaos reigns in Olympus as Zeus publicly declares Persephone a traitor and issues a warrant for her arrest. But Hades defies his brother’s decree, sheltering Persephone in the Underworld—and as the pair spend more time together, they are able to speak openly about their pasts. The goddess of spring admits the truth behind the bloody secret that led to Zeus’s ire, and the king of the Underworld shares the trauma he suffered at the hands of his power-hungry father, Kronos.
