The water absorption test measures the amount of water a stone can hold when fully saturated. This is expressed as a percentage of the total weight. So, a result of 1% means that when fully saturated, 1% of a stone’s weight will be water. As a guide, paving such as porcelain is usually less than 0.5% porosity, granite is around 0.5%, sandstone and limestone are in the region of 1-3% and concrete, 6% Over 2,000 m² of marble within the Palatine Chapel, also known as the Octagon for its distinctive octagonal central area, are encrusted by a stubborn layer of dirt, soot, and grease. Additionally, the combination of humidity and carbon dioxide has weathered the marble over the years. The compressive strength rating is important when deciding on stone suitable for a driveway or commercial setting where excessive weight will be applied to the paving. Paving that does not pass the required standard will not support any excessive loading. Soak the paved area in your cleaning solution and allow to settle in to the paving surface as per the manufacturer’s instructions (if applicable). Once the solution has had time to work into the paving and before it dries you should further agitate it with a stiff brush or similar. This should loosen the surface debris and remove it from the paving. Pressure Wash & Rinse First wet the surface, then apply diluted with water up to 1:10, depending on the type of dirt – and immediately spread the product evenly on the surface with a scrubbing brush. After a few minutes, scrub the surface then wash away with clean water. Do not allow the product to dry on the surface. In stubborn cases this procedure may have to be repeated. Advice: in case of extremely stubborn, repeated rust discolourations we recommend BERO. Do not allow the product to dry on the surface, if necessary add some water and brush. Please Note: we always recommend testing the product in an inconspicuous area prior to use. Please Note: Lithofin MN Builder’s Clean is not suitable for polished or finely honed surfaces which are sensitive to acid such as limestone, marble, manufactured stone, etc. Lithofin Beroisn't a cleaner you'll need unless you encounter naturally occurring rust. This is a natural phenomenon. Natural stone often contains traces of iron and these may oxidise, as a result of wet weather or cleaning, into orangey-brown marks.We recommend this for removing resin, epoxy grout and glue, which may be spilt when laying porcelain tiles. This special formulation is based on acidic reaction compounds supported by select, highly active organic solvents. This allows Resin-Ex to penetrate many substances - including sealants, paint, lacquer and plastic residues - and dissolve them from the surface. A pressure washer assists with the cleaning process but you should be sure to keep a safe distance from the paving & joins. Porcelain is very stain-resistant, but that doesn't mean it never gets stained. Allowing leaves to lie on the surface and rot and dripping grease from the barbecue are just two examples of how porcelain paving may become stained. If you have stains that need to be lifted, you will need to choose the correct solution. Bero chemically changes the rust particles in the stone, so removing the marks and keeping further occurrences under control. It also removes cement residues and similar dirt.
