About this deal

Diverse Range of Lightfast Colors: Koi watercolors offer a broad selection of lightfast colors, providing artists with a wide spectrum to choose from. This versatility allows artists to achieve their desired artistic vision while maintaining confidence in the long-term stability of the colors. Notice that I’m applying this final layer mostly on the shaded side of the fish so that the upper side which is turned towards the light remains light toned. By intensifying the colors on the underside I’m also increasing the sense of light and dark and trying to give a better illusion of three-dimensions. In celebration of Christmas, I received a new watercolor paint set: the Koi Watercolor Field 48 Color Sketch Set. Their watercolors come in eight different size sketchboxes: 12 inches by 18 inches, 24 inches by 30 inches, 36 inches by 48 inches, 60 inches by 72 inches, and so on. There are two openings on either end of the box, with a nice plastic pallet that can be screwed into. To clean the sketchbox, a Koi Watercolor brush and a small sponge are included. The paints are very bright and don’t dry chalky like the cheaper paint I used in the earlier post, despite their pigment. Because the pans are half-pans, they don’t get a lot of paint in them. This Koi Watercolor Sketchbox (the 48-count) has been a very useful tool for me as a beginner, and I’m eager to show you all of the things I can do with it. Colors are pigmented in the larger sets, and there is a nice range of options within the smaller ones. Best Quality Watercolors: Daniel Smith Quinacridone Magenta (E): Known for its intense and rich pinkish-red hue, this pigment also boasts an excellent lightfastness rating, offering artists confidence in its long-lasting color stability.

Paint the whole of the koi fish in blue, but leave the upper sides slightly lighter toned where they’re turned towards the light. I used a lifting technique to blot up some of the wet paint and lighten the upper half of the fish shape. Continue working around the fish in this way and add an extra strong viscose blur of Winsor blue and Winsor violet directly under the mouth and head to create the idea of a cast shadow in the water. Leave the left-hand and top side of the stalks lighter and make the right-hand and undersides darker. This puts light into your painting. Protecting watercolor paintings from UV light and environmental factors is vital for maintaining their longevity:I’m going to apply a similar method to the blue fish underneath by adding a few brush marks of additional texture. Some closely spaced dots are enough to suggest the idea of a scaly skin.

Finally re-touch the fin and tail lines where necessary using the French ultramarine blue and burnt umber mix. Koi watercolor is a type of painting that is done using a special type of paintbrush. This type of brush is designed to hold a lot of paint, and to release it in a controlled manner. This allows the painter to create very intricate designs and patterns. Are Koi Watercolours Good? Ultramarine Blue (L): This vibrant blue pigment holds an excellent lightfastness rating, ensuring that the color remains true and intense even after prolonged exposure to light. Using your stretched paper, wet the inside of the fish with clear water and allow the surface to become ‘satin’ (see above). It refers to how the pigment of an art material interacts with light. Under normal conditions, the ability of a pigment to resist fading and discoloration is measured. It is possible to lose pigment within weeks of it becoming available, but it may take months or even years for some pigments to become available. The loss of light is one of the primary reasons that art is doomed; in the end, light eats away at the pigments beneath the surface of the work. Because lightfast paint does not fade over time, it is the only way to paint a red square. It doesn’t matter if you’re a hobby artist if you buy lower-cost art supplies. The differences between terrible pigments and outstanding pigments are enormous.Small pans. These are much smaller than a normal 1/2 pan. So far, I’ve only used small brushes with them, but if you like a larger brush, you’re going to feel very frustrated with this paint. The colors in the watercolors are very vibrant, and the quality of the watercolors is impressive, as it is with all Koi watermarkers. They’re versatile enough to be applied generously, almost like gouache, or thinly and watered out. As a watercolor collector, I strongly advise purchasing this set. Are Koi Watercolors Toxic?
