About this deal

Its a novella, so not a lot of room for character growth, and I don't think the plot could handle much more anyway. But it works fairly well with what it has by turning a lot of the usual tropes on their head. In particular, you have a pretty great heroine who doesn't mindlessly go along with a notorious rake. (I think he's supposed to be a rake? It is supppperrrr vague. Probably notorious only in his own head.) Anyway, she has quite a bit of agency, which I liked. His Bride for the Taking is a stand alone novella by Tessa Dare that was oringinally in 2018 as a part of the Rogues Rush In: a Regency Duet. That might make marginally more sense in the context of her fighting for votes for women and actually having a wedding dress. But there is talk of young nobles joining the war which usually refers to the Napoleonic wars. So, who knows?

I devoured this novella in one sitting and can only recommend to any one who is looking for a spirited tale with an unconventional Miss and the man who worships her path. Embark in this rollercoaster of emotions. He put off the wedding once, she corrected. The other time I was in mourning. That wasn’t his fault. I finally had a Eureka! moment when I was home on maternity leave and tried my hand at writing a novel. Imagine the joy of discovering that writing was almost as much fun as reading. After years of not knowing what I wanted to do ‘when I grew up’ I suddenly knew.I know I’ve watched you cradle a sparrow hatchling in your hand and feed it from a tincture dropper. This story could have easily veered into the old He doesn’t love me, he’s just honorable/She doesn’t love me, she’s just out of choices territory, but I’m so glad it didn’t. There’s no Big Misunderstanding, but there is a big twist I didn’t see coming. I did feel the ending was a bit rushed. I wanted more! I hope we see these characters in future books, because it’s a fun and happy story, with enjoyable characters who you just love. With her trademark wit and light hand, Tessa Dare tells a delightful tale. Well, I don’t know how you propose to complete this bed without joining pieces together. Did you find a leaflet in the attic with instructions? In Swedish?" Celeste believes this so-called "legend" is just some scary fairytale her grandmother made up to scare her. But was she ever wrong when a pair of moonlit eyes stared straight at her through her bedroom window and entered her room. Next thing she knew, she was being carried out the house and into the woods by a half-naked man who called her his.

Sebastian Ives, Lord Byrne, had never been one for following rules. But promises? He took those seriously indeed. His friendship with Henry Clayton had been the anchor in his turbulent youth, too valuable to risk. So he’d made a vow to himself, and he’d steadfastly held to it—as best he could, anyhow—for years. Loved, loved, loved this short little story by Tessa Dare. It was a sweet romance with romantic gestures, beautiful setting (eventually ;) ), endearing couple, and lovers of a lifetime.Goodness. For once, she was caught without a response. He’d taken her breath away. She’d already lost her father, then her only brother.

It’s the first rule of friendship among gentlemen: Don’t even think about touching your best friend’s sister. But Sebastian, Lord Byrne, has never been one for rules. He’s thought about touching Mary Clayton—a lot—and struggled to resist temptation. But when Mary’s bridegroom leaves her waiting the altar, only Sebastian can save her from ruin. By marrying her himself.
