Guilty Gear Strive, on the other hand, is far more accessible. For starters, it's a much higher damage game than Rev 2. That is, characters have less health, and fights are generally over a lot faster. As such, there's less emphasis on complex combos — combos that require deft fingers and extensive knowledge of the game's various mechanics. Beginners can jump into Strive and immediately dish out big damage with cool looking moves that are easy to use — and that's a crucial hook for any modern fighting game. Players, particularly veterans, who want to put in work will find Guilty Gear Strive to be a wild time.Full game is required to play this content. Please make sure to get the update if the latest version of the patch is required. Guilty Gear -Strive-“ is the latest entry in the critically acclaimed Guilty Gear fighting game franchise. Created by Daisuke Ishiwatari and developed by Arc System Works, “Guilty Gear -Strive-“ upholds the series’ reputation for groundbreaking hybrid 2D/3D cell-shaded graphics and intense, rewarding gameplay. Experience the thrill of battle with the in-depth mechanics and gorgeous animations of Guilty Gear -Strive-, the latest entry in the cutting edge Guilty Gear series!

Graphical advances make for a game so beautiful it could be mistaken for hand-drawn animation. The new generation of graphics are a delight for the eyes down to the tiniest detail! Competitive online play is clearly what a game such as Guilty Gear Strive is all about. Although the servers were sometimes slow to connect, the responsiveness of battles is excellent. Players can test their mettle in a ranked system, and even watch replays of other matches. Watching high tier battles is an excellent way to nab some offensive ideas, and when the trophy for “begin assessment of target” pops, it’s clear this was Arc System’s intention for the Guilty Gear community.

Season pass 1

To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. See PlayStation.com/bc for more details. Guilty Gear Strive is, like so many of its predecessors, the pinnacle of a certain kind of fighting game. The series, known for its highly technical (read: complicated) set of systems, rewards players for investing time to master both its universal systems and the nuances of its individual characters in a way that few other series have. Strive maintains that tradition and throws in a couple new ideas that bolster its bold anime-inspired flash without making the game any harder to learn. While the core fighting experience has only improved, many of the game's less savory tendencies remain in place, including its non-playable story "mode" and yet another set of kludgy Arc System Works-style avatar-based matchmaking menus. As in most fighting games, those problems are secondary: Players, particularly veterans, who want to put in work will find Guilty Gear Strive to be a wild time.

This bundle includes an additional 5 playable characters, stages, and the story of "Guilty Gear -Strive-". For context, fighting online and levelling up your chosen character's rank nets you thousands of in-game dollars. Beating 20 opponents straight in survival mode? 30 dollars. Playing against the CPU? Zero dollars. Replaying arcade mode with your favourite character? Zero dollars. While we understand the push to play online, we don't see why players should be penalised for playing alone, and potentially learning the ins and outs of the game at their own pace. A baffling decision considering Strive's positioning as a more accessible Guilty Gear. The cutting-edge 2D/3D hybrid graphics pioneered in the Guilty Gear series have been raised to the next level in “Guilty Gear -Strive-“. The new artistic direction and improve character animations will go beyond anything you’ve seen before in a fighting game! The Guilty Gear experience here has been somewhat streamlined to really bolster the importance of signature mechanics. Rather than emphasise hit combos, you’re encouraged to learn the various “cancels” that can string otherwise unchainable moves together. The system can be complex, but offers a tremendous amount of opportunity for creativity. A total of 24 characters are available, including 15 default characters plus 9 additional characters from Season 1 and Season 2!

Latest Reviews

Indeed, Guilty Gear Strive is a ridiculously good looking game. It's easily Arc System Works' most impressive release yet, and that's saying a hell of a lot when we already have the likes of Rev 2, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Granblue Fantasy Versus to gawk at. We think it's easy to argue that Strive is the best looking fighting game ever made. From the immaculate character designs to the eye-popping graphical techniques that the developer employs, Strive is a visual marvel. Even if you have zero interest in fighting games, you can watch Strive in motion and be left in awe of its artistic accomplishments.
