Get ready for the new Tyranid codex by grabbing this Hive Mind notebook , which is perfect for jotting down your favourite Space Marines recipes. If it were me, I would take the Custom Craftworld traits “Children of Morai-Heg” and “Hunters of Ancient Relics,” because those are clearly what the designers actually had in mind narratively for my Craftworld, (Iybraesil,) and those happen to not be remotely competitive. But with this list you can really take anything that ISN’T Hail of Doom, Masterful Shots, or Children of Prophecy. As for the Farseer powers, I would swap EXECUTIONER for MIND WAR, and then decide whether or not it is reasonable to hang onto GUIDE; it probably is unless your opponent’s list is tragically squishy. You may also want to consider not starting the Guardians in the Webway if your opponent is not an experienced player. Accuracy of dating conventions may vary. Long before the Imperium of Man, when humanity was still in its infancy, the galaxy was dominated by the Aeldari Empire, who ruled over millions of worlds with incredible psychic power and wielding hyper-advanced technology that would make even Belisarius Cawl feel inadequate. However, over the aeons, their empire slowly slid into decay, with their depravity and decadence eventually causing their downfall in the birth-explosion of a new Chaos God – Slaanesh, or She Who Thirsts. The surviving Aeldari are a damned race, and they all have their own strategies for coping with that fact. After years of looking at the starter sets – I have to say I am really, really impressed with this one. Let’s Break it down: Farseers with FORTUNE and EXECUTIONER in Ulthwe or Children of Prophecy lists are a good example of this kind of versatility. They can score “Warp Ritual” or “Psychic Interogation” with fair reliability and spend a CP to either provide a defensive buff, debuff, or do some real damage with EXECUTIONER. Alternatively, they can pivot into full murder-mode throwing down SMITE and EXECUTIONER on the same target if something really needs to die. (EXECUTIONER is amazing in 500pt games by the way, for obvious reasons.) Plan your army– You’ll want to think about what sort of list you want to start with before you start buying anything: Do you want the mobile ranged firepower of the Kabals, the lightning-fast melee threat of the Wych Cults, or the deceptively-durable threat of the Haemonculus Covens? Or do you want to try to leverage the flexibility that comes with bringing a bit of each? These are all perfectly fine ways to get started. Another equally effective might be a unit of Rangers with a Shard Net using “Advanced Positions” to deploy behind an obscuring terrain piece while screening the midfield. Your Rangers can halt the enemy melee advance, giving you a turn to blast the interlopers or counter punch them with your own melee heavy hitters, like Banshees or Shining Spears. Warp Spiders also make a superior screening unit because of their ability to move 6” away from an enemy who declares a charge.Whatever you do, if you come up against a shooting army don't just shrug and say "my aspect warriors have an invulnerable save, so I'll hope for hot dice." That way lies ruin and defeat. You might have to count on doing some damage to the opposing force before making a big play for objective control. Secondly, you can form a Realspace Raid, which means that instead of designating a detachment as Kabals/Cults/Covens, you designate it as a Realspace Raid. There’s some baseline requirements for doing this – the detachment must have exactly 1 Archon, 1 Haemonculus, and 1 Succubus, and the Archon must be the Warlord, plus there must be 1 each of the appropriate Troops choices. However, as long as you have this, everything gets access to the proper Obsession and their sub-faction specific Stratagem/Relic/Warlord trait. It’s a powerful option for taking a “mixed” force that’s a little less overhead than managing different Patrols. This box arrives in April, and it’s not the only Combat Patrol coming your way. Before the Aeldari get their turn, the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are taking to the field with boxes of their own, both of which will be here in March. A: In Hail of Doom lists GUIDE is objectively better against most targets if only one unit is targeting them. Also, it has a lower Warp Charge value and only requires your psyker to be in range of the friendly unit rather than the enemy Travelling Players will allow anyone with existing Harlequin armies to supplement them with more straightforward Asuryani or Drukhari forces, it’s easier than ever to find a place in your collection for some of the wildest and most acrobatic miniatures in the Aeldari range.

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this army to a brand new player. I’m not going to lie: this list is going to be fighting an uphill battle. Until you get the hang of positioning and how to really dissect an opponent’s army it’s gonna be rough. But it’s thematic and rewarding to play! If you’re up for a challenge then have at it!Vypers and Warwalkers fight just as well with 1 wound remaining as they do with 6 wounds remaining, which makes them especially strong when you only have a small handful of heavy weapons.

In conclusion, the Aeldari Combat Patrol box earns a solid 7/7 for its harmonious unit selection and the strategic depth it offers. Though the Aeldari may not be the most durable, they more than make up for it with their psychic abilities, speed, and grace, making them a rewarding and engaging faction to master. For the Craftworlds! Building an effective 500pt list is a much like building a 2k list; it's a matter of thinking about what obstacles your list is likely to encounter and making sure it has ways to overcome them. With so few points at your disposal, however, every unit needs to offer an effective answer to one or more of these obstacles. Here are some questions you should ask yourself during list construction:Scuttling predators that can be armed with several different ranged bio-weapons, Termagants are ideal for controlling objectives in your territory – or swarming over enemy units foolish enough to try and hold them in midfield. Plus, wait until you see what their upgraded fleshborers can do.***

Since we are leaning into that Saim-Hann theme it would be appropriate to snag another Combat Patrol box. Doubling down on this core allows us to do a few things. First, we get another 10 Guardians. We can use them to fill out the previous squad or use them as two 10-man squads. Either option is useful for various reasons. Second, it gives us a total of 12 Jetbikes. We’re gonna need them. The additional Farseer and Wraithlord are less helpful here but maybe not as terrible as you might think. GW has done this so far with every codex, where they have a picture of the patrol in the book, then later reveal the box as a product. For the most part, they have always matched up and this time it does for certain as Warhammer Community just confirmed the box. To add to this boxed set, we’re going to add a few extra units that’ll give the army a bit more play (especially onto Space Marines). Yesterday, we unveiled the new Tyranid codex, as well as the Combat Patrol that’s coming out alongside it. But just who are these extra-galactic (and extra-hungry) space bugs, and why do they love eating Space Marines so much? How does the Aeldari Army Play? The Aeldari are essentially a precision force, known for their psychic capabilities, incredible speed, and agility. While they may seem fragile – akin to a ‘glass cannon’, they boast potent tank units like Wraith Constructs. The true strength of this army lies in its characters and their psychic might, combined with the speed and hit-and-run tactics of units like Windriders and Warp Spiders. The Angels Excelsis Chapter fell to the last man in Baal’s defence, the excommunicated Knights of Blood returned to lend a hand, and a whopping five Chapter Masters gave their lives to fight the Tyranid bio-horrors. Even with the Sanguinor getting involved, it looked like it could be the end for the Blood Angels – only a miracle could save them. To put it more simply: you win this game by scoring points, so when you build a list for competitive play, you should start by considering exactly how you are going to do so. I already mentioned earlier some of my own favorite secondary objective options, so I will not do so again here- just be sure you have a plan for how you can reliably get to at least 30 points for secondaries.
